Every wedding at Windmill Farm Hotel is special in its own unique way, so it’s difficult to choose just one! We’ve hosted everything from intimate, romantic ceremonies to vibrant celebrations with 250 guests filling the dancefloor. One particularly memorable wedding combined a heartfelt ceremony in our licensed room with a delicious three-course wedding breakfast and a lively evening reception featuring a live band — the couple’s personalities shone through every detail. What made it truly the “best” was seeing how stress-free and joyful the day felt for them, thanks to our team taking care of all the details behind the scenes.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Our top tip is to stay true to yourselves as a couple and plan a day that feels meaningful to you, rather than trying to please everyone else. Focus on the elements that matter most — whether that’s the food, the music, or creating a relaxed atmosphere for your guests. Everything else will fall into place, and your friends and family will simply enjoy celebrating your love with you. And of course, lean on your wedding coordinator — we’re here to take the stress out of the planning so you can enjoy the journey as much as the big day itself.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
We’ve been lucky to see so many wonderful personal touches over the years, but one of our favourites has to be when a couple created a “memory table” filled with photos of their journey together — from childhood snapshots to their first holiday as a couple. It brought so much joy and laughter as guests shared stories and reminisced. Personal touches like these always make a wedding feel extra special, as they add a layer of warmth and meaning that everyone can connect with.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
We’re lucky to have a few stunning photo spots at Windmill Farm Hotel. The elegant spiral staircase always makes for a dramatic and romantic backdrop — perfect for capturing those just-married moments. For couples who love the outdoors, our spacious function garden is ideal for group shots, natural candid photos, and golden-hour portraits as the sun sets. Together, they offer the best of both worlds for timeless wedding photography.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We’ve had our fair share of star-studded moments… though we like to keep the details under wraps! While we can’t name names, we can promise that every couple and their guests are treated like VIPs, and no matter who walks through our doors, every wedding feels truly special and unforgettable.
What’s your favourite canapé?
It’s hard to pick just one, as our canapé menu is full of crowd-pleasers! If we had to choose, the prawn cocktail crostinis are always a favourite — fresh, light, and full of flavour. The roast beef on a parsnip crisp with horseradish also gets a lot of love for something a little indulgent, and the goat’s cheese & caramelised red onion crostinis are perfect for guests who enjoy a rich, vegetarian option. Honestly, every canapé is designed to impress and give a delicious taste of what’s to come at your wedding breakfast!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
We love our dessert platter for those late-night sweet cravings! It’s a delicious mix of cookie dough cheesecake, triple-chocolate brownies, chocolate-chip cookies, fresh strawberries, raspberry coulis, and double cream — the perfect way to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth and keep the celebrations going into the early hours.

From the very first enquiry to the last dance of the day, our dedicated wedding coordinator ensures every detail is planned and perfect. Seeing couples relax, enjoy their day, and create memories with their loved ones is what makes our team truly proud — it’s more than a venue, it’s about creating experiences that couples will cherish forever.
