If you’ve dreamed about an extra special wedding day by the sea surrounded by cliffs, rolling countryside and some amazing local wildlife, Pembrokeshire might just be your perfect wedding spot. Tucked away in the south-west corner of Wales, Pembrokeshire is a coastal county known for its breathtaking beauty and relaxed vibes, including as one of the UK’s most scenic national parks, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
Our 2025 Wedding Report found that 4% of all UK weddings take place in Pembrokeshire (along with the rest of Wales), with more than four out of five (83%) local couples staying close by on their special day. The average cost of a wedding in the region is £18,368, which is over £2,000 less than the UK average. This makes Pembrokeshire not only a great place to tie the knot with so much choice on offer, but one which is also suitable if you have a smaller budget.
From twilight beach parties to cosy countryside celebrations, Pembrokeshire is a favourite for couples looking to combine natural beauty with a personal, down-to-earth feel, and have a wedding day no one will forget in a hurry.
Thanks to its unbeatable coastal views and miles of open countryside, Pembrokeshire weddings tend to lean into relaxed, nature-inspired styling. Outdoor weddings are a big draw, especially in the summer months, with couples going for tipi and marquee receptions, as well as photoshoots with natural backdrops, like the cliffs or beach.
Rustic and boho themes are especially popular with the use of dried flowers, seasonal foliage, statement-making hats and barefoot brides, especially at beach locations. Local produce and sustainability are also high on the list of priorities, with many couples choosing farm-to-table menus filled with local cuisine (Welsh cakes are a common addition), ethical suppliers and upcycled decor to reduce waste and support local businesses.
Intimate micro-weddings are also a growing trend, with many couples heading to this part of Wales for a small celebration with only their nearest and dearest. This helps couples keep their spending down and opens up their options to practically every type of venue going.
As ever, traditional Welsh touches are also a must-do for many local couples in particular, with love spoons, bilingual signage and local musicians paying homage to local life and longstanding traditions.
Pembrokeshire’s venues are as varied and characterful as the region itself. You’ll find everything from ancient castles to garden spots tucked away in the countryside.
To honour local history, you could choose a venue which has been a part of the Pembrokeshire landscape for centuries. Pembroke Castle is an iconic Pembrokeshire landmark on the banks of Mill Pond and was the birthplace of King Henry VII. If your vibes are more suited to a country manor, Pembrokeshire also has a fantastic selection for you to choose from. Orielton Field Centre is a smart Georgian mansion set within 100 acres of countryside; Gellifawr Woodland Retreat is a stone farmhouse right in the centre of Pembrokeshire’s National Park; and The Grove Country House has an array of indoor and outdoor options, offering you plenty of customisation.
If you love the thought of getting married outdoors, Pembrokeshire is a great area to do just that, with a selection of venues, including Slebech Park and Cardeeth, letting you take things outside and be at one with nature.
Pembrokeshire is a county with loads of unique places to see and visit, such as Skomer Island, which is home to various seabird species, including puffins and kittiwakes. And some of these standout places make for brilliant wedding venues, some of which you can even tie to your passions and interests. Serenity Garden is, as the name suggests, a peaceful and serene garden tucked away in the middle of nowhere. Imperial Hall is an award-winning venue with bags of character. And for golf fans, Newport Links Golf Club offers views like nowhere else.
Wales already stands out as a hugely affordable wedding destination, but Pembrokeshire in particular is a great option if you have a smaller budget to work with. Venues including Crug Glâs, Beggars Reach Hotel and Wolfscastle Country Hotel are all great lower-cost options.
The average cost of a wedding venue in Pembrokeshire and Wales as a whole is £5,924, which is in line with the overall UK average. But, it’s important to remember that this is just an average, and there’s a wide variety of venues available around Pembrokeshire which are suitable for all types of budgets.
Pembrokeshire is a wonderful place to host your wedding – a sentiment shared by so many couples. The popularity of the area means many venues have a booking lead time of between 12 and 18 months. But, some of the more popular venues can have a lead time of around two years, especially during the summer or on highly sought-after weekend dates.
If you’re looking for a date much sooner than this, you could consider either a winter wedding or choosing a date in the middle of the week – this can cut the lead time down to six months or less. Not only this, but it can also save you some money, as many venues have off-peak rates to try and tempt couples to book at the less popular times.
Pembrokeshire’s coastal climate means it experiences lots of rain, lots of sun and lots of wind at various times throughout the year. But these dramatic differences can also play a big role in your wedding day, depending on what you’re looking for.
Spring (March – May) is fresh and green in the countryside, and crisp and cool along the coast, with average highs county-wide of 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F). It’s a great time for a ceremony with fewer tourists and unspoilt views, especially if you want a wedding in nature.
Summer (June – August) is when most Pembrokeshire weddings take place, with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 21°C (63°F to 70°F) and long daylight hours are perfect for outdoor ceremonies at venues such as Fforest and Rhosygilwen - A Pembrokeshire Country Retreat.
Autumn (September – November) is for fans of golden hour, earthy colours and a cosy atmosphere, with highs between 11°C and 16°C (52°F to 61°F). It’s a great time for venues with both indoor and outdoor space, like Warpool Court Hotel.
Winter (December – February) is quiet and atmospheric in Pembrokeshire, with cooler temperatures that can occasionally drop below freezing. This means you’ll need to go with a venue like Trefloyne Manor, which looks amazing when decked out in festive lights but has some big indoor spaces so you can keep warm.
While it may feel like a long way from the nearest major town or city (Swansea is more than 50 miles away), Pembrokeshire is surprisingly easy to reach. The M4 motorway runs right along the southern coast of Wales, which then becomes the A40 and runs through the county, so it’s really just one road to the likes of Cardiff, Bristol and Greater London.
It can be a little trickier by rail, because while the West Wales lines do run through Pembrokeshire, the services aren’t all that frequent and won’t get you to some of the more remote parts of the county. A train from London Paddington to Pembroke will take a little over five hours and will involve one transfer.
The closest airport is Cardiff (CWL), which offers a range of daily flights, and then your next best bet is Bristol Airport (BRS) if you have guests coming from overseas.
Because Pembrokeshire is a popular destination for tourists, there’s a great selection of places to stay, including hotels and B&Bs. There are even plenty of hotels that have event spaces, so you can have a cost-effective and convenient wedding day all in one location. Take a look at Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Fourcroft Hotel, Cleddau Bridge Hotel, Castlemead Hotel and Llys Meddyg, which are all lovely wedding venues in their own right.
