Set in the heart of the city of Southampton, The grand is the perfect setting for all of your wedding celebrations. The stylish interior with high ceilings, beautiful chandeliers and elegant furniture, creates an impressive venue to hold your wedding breakfast and/or reception. Downstairs we have an additional venue, Ruby's, which offers a slightly smaller, romantic and luxurious space for couples looking to create a more intimate wedding. Alternatively, the option of using both spaces for your day, can add elements of surprise for your guests.
We are proud to offer a beautiful setting and exceptional service for your special day, which can be personalised and made bespoke to your wishes. We appreciate that every couple is unique, so we make it our priority to get to know our couples and help tailor the occasion for how you wish to celebrate with your loved ones.
Our highly skilled in-house chefs have created exquisite menus, using the finest seasonal produce, sourced locally and ensure the highest quality ingredients are used in providing you and your guests delicious food for your celebrations.

We had the whole wedding (ceremony, wedding breakfast and reception) there, and it was faultless. The organisation, effort and attention to detail was incredible. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful. We partied until 2am in Ruby’s, the whole venue is just fantastic. Thank you to the whole team, it was the most special day! If you are thinking of getting married at The Grand, or holding any event there -do it! The venue itself is impressive and is a perfect place to hold a wedding reception. The staff were amazing, extremely attentive and welcoming. The service they each provided was exceptional. We had a 3 course meal for 65 guests, the food was absolutely delicious - hats off to the chef! Jonny was extremely helpful and attentive throughout the whole process, always replying promptly and going the extra mile. I would definitely recommend The Grand as a wedding reception or for any other event for that matter.I recently had my wedding reception at The Grand and I couldn't have wished for a better venue. Emma introduced us to the team and gave us lots of ideas on how we could create lots of different experiences for our guests. The best part of the day was when we surprised our guests with singing waiters, this was just amazing, they had everyone up on the chairs!! The team were fantastic and my husband and I didn't have to worry about anything at all!! What is your venue's most unique feature?
Located inside the iconic, Grade II listed South Western House, The Grand is steeped in history dating back to 1872, where it was originally the Wedgwood Ballroom. Many of the building’s original features can still be seen today; including the original marble pillars in the former hotel lobby.
There are only a couple of these rooms still to be seen in the UK, and most of them are in London. We are very fortunate to be connected to this part of history.
The building played host to many distinguished guests, two very notable ones were Winston Churchill and Dwight Eisenhower during the Second World War. The men planned the D Day invasion in one of the small public rooms on the first floor.
There is also photographic evidence that the Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mother visited the Hotel and indeed danced in the Wedgwood Ballroom.
