From start to finish we have had an excellent experience. We were shown around the venue by Karis in December 2023 and were surprised with a bottle of Bombay Sapphire and a Christmas ornament! We attended an open day and booked our date (sadly you didn't have our preferred day but not much you could do about that). Karis remembered us from our previous visit and arranged the booking for us, explaining all the options and helping us to choose the right one for us. We then attended our planning meetings with Becky who was excellent throughout. She was helpful and informative throughout the planning stages, happy to make adjustments and suggestions to make our day ours. We were lucky enough to also have Becky as our events coordinator as well as she had all the context from the prior meetings to help make our day just as we envisioned. On the day, she was completely in control and happy to help with anything that cropped up. We felt totally relaxed leaving the running of our day in her capable hands. We were also grateful for her personal touch looking after us; she personally handed us our reception drinks, arranged a quiet place for just us two in the conservatory to enjoy our canapes in between photos and greeting guests, made sure we were happy with everything in the banqueting suite prior to inviting everyone through for breakfast; there are too many instances to count! At the end of the night, Becky wished us a good night and personally introduced us to our point of contact for the evening, which we were grateful for. The day team have been excellent; the waiting staff have always been more than happy to help with anything on each visit. I believe there was an unexpected dietary requirement for one of our guests on the day, but the team handled it and resolved the issue immediately without needing to query with us - we were very grateful that it was a non issue and we could focus on enjoying our day. The food was superb on each of our visits, and our guests were complementing both the quality and the portions of the meals during and after the breakfast. Spectacular! The evening team were just as approachable and helpful as the day team, and were willing to accommodate unusual requests like having jugs of water sent to our room ready for our arrival. We also appreciated the hot bath and cold bottle of wine being ready for us when retired for the night - what a lovely and thoughtful surprise! We had such a wonderful time, and we are so grateful that we could entrust the Southdowns Manor team with the minutiae of running the day so that we could enjoy every second of it! We honestly couldn’t have asked for more. Anything and everything we could ask for, Lia and the team did, plus even more. Lia is so thoughtful and professional. There were so many things I had planned to micromanage, but I didn’t need to at all. I came downstairs and Lia and the team had put all my thoughts into real life - maybe even better! The booking process and planning with them was easy. The day went perfectly because of them. Any issues, we weren’t aware of because Lia and the team dealt with it for us. Everything was perfect, and there were so many little details and things they do for you that goes way beyond what is probably expected. I honestly couldn’t recommend Southdowns Manor enough. On our wedding day, the whole team of staff were very professional and helpful, and they seamlessly attended to everyone's needs ensuring the day flowed smoothly. The venue itself is beautiful, and we were grateful to have the opportunity to decorate and put our own stamp on the day so that it could be how we wanted it. What made it all even more special was being able to have our dog with us for the day and overnight stay. She was very welcome by all the staff and it made it the best day ever! We cannot recommend Southdowns Manor enough to anyone considering booking. It is exceptional value for money, spacious, beautiful, secluded and exclusive. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
Every wedding at Southdowns Manor is unique and special, but one that truly stands out was a late-summer celebration for a couple who wanted an intimate, countryside-inspired day with all their closest friends and family. The ceremony took place in our sunlit Conservatory, followed by drinks and canapés on the lawns as the golden-hour light bathed the gardens. Guests danced under the starlight celling in our Grand Banqueting Suite, and the newlyweds stayed in the honeymoon suite overlooking the rolling South Downs.
What made it unforgettable was how seamlessly the day flowed — every detail, from flowers and décor to food and timings everything came together perfectly. Seeing the couple’s joy and their guests’ smiles reminded us why we love what we do: creating weddings that feel personal, relaxed, and utterly magical.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Our No.1 tip for couples is to focus on what truly matters to you both. It’s easy to get caught up in trends or what “looks perfect” on social media, but your wedding should reflect your personalities, your love story, and the moments you’ll remember forever.
Plan the big things first — venue, guest list, and key suppliers — and then add the personal touches that make your day feel uniquely yours. And most importantly, don’t forget to pause, take it all in, and enjoy the journey together. After all, it’s your day, and it should be wonderful from start to finish!

I love an ice cream van...especially for a summer wedding!
