The Union Club

Why I love photographing weddings at The Union Club: - It’s a unique and intimate venue in the heart of Soho - Interesting decor, lots of colours, textures and quirky features - Two very different dining areas, both with bags of personality - Eclectic artwork provides a great backdrop and layering for documentary photography Nestled in the heart of Soho, The Union Club is a hidden gem. Built in 1736, it has been a brothel, a gambling and drinking den, and no doubt its walls have many stories to tell. It’s a Bohemian and eclectic private member’s club that hosts intimate weddings. It’s packed full of eclectic artwork, blue plaques, and antique furniture. It’s a great London wedding venue for a laid back, intimate celebration, and I love photographing weddings there.

It was the third venue we looked. We decided immediately that the Union Club in Soho was perfect for what we wanted. Everything could be held at the venue, and the whole building is yours for the day. We loved everything about the club. The look, the location, the open fires and the fact that Gordon sat us down for a chat and offered us a drink rather than rushing us around and kicking us out! One of the most important things to us was the day felt totally relaxed.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the atmos, the attentiveness and friendliness of the club team, the terrific wine list, and not least the fantastic food and fare. I hope we didn't overstay our welcome, a reflection of the comfortable hard-to-leave bon homie exuded by the club.

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and all the team at the Union Club for Saturday. It was such a special day. Our friends said you were so helpful in the morning and getting everything set up. The idea to have the reception out on the terrace was inspired and I think it just made the day so thank you for that. The food was amazing, the booze was flowing and everyone commented on your staff and the venue generally. So thank you again, we're so pleased to have been able to have one of the best days of our lives in your club. Please pass on our huge thanks to the team.

Thanks so much for all your help. We had such a lovely celebration for Ethan and Zhenya’s wedding. Carolyn and all the kitchen team did such a great job with the food. Pete, your choice of wines, champagne and Prosecco was perfect. Ben and Olga were great and fab with our guests. And what a result that Olga could speak with the bride and her sister. A truly memorable event. Thank you so much! And I did cry a bit during my speech. Please pass on our thanks to the Union team.

It was an amazing day and made such by you and your amazing staff who never failed to smile and assist at all times…They were so lovely. The perfect setting, perfectly arranged and so smoothly orchestrated… Thank you, thank you, thank you from us both.

Everything about it was spot on and perfect, we have had lots of comments on the high quality of the food and the professionalism of the entire team, dining and bar staff. Thank you also to your continuing support and flexibility in the planning. We are so relieved and pleased that we chose Union Club to host our special day.

Our venue, the Union Club, is a really cool members-only club in Soho on Greek Street that is also legally and emotionally equipped for weddings. I kept saying to my friends that it’s like if Soho House was designed by Miss Havisham, but that doesn’t really do it justice.
