Description

Built well over a century ago, the Rhynd has been owned by the Foster family since the early 1950s, and up until the late 1990s the space was a working farm. The event space was a cattle shed and has been lovingly restored keeping all the unique features in place, creating a truly romantic rustic barn feel. Access to the venue is from Thursday through to Sunday, or Monday to Wednesday - we don't want you to feel rushed! All heating and lighting is included for the day and you are free to choose whichever suppliers you love the most! The venue can hold up to 180 seated and up to 230 for your evening. We also have a gorgeous Farmhouse onsite that can sleep up to 10 people, the venue is situated just 15 minutes from St Andrews and Dundee. With ever changing fields in crop, Tentsmuir forest and Kinshaldy beach only 5minutes away there are plenty of photo opportunities! Your wedding coordinator is happy to be as involved as you like and can be there on your big day to give you peace of mind if required.

When Lisa first showed us around the Rhynd, we were instantly taken by it's gorgeous rustic charm and blank canvas for us to make it our own. Lisa was brilliant through the whole planning process, getting back to us quickly through email and always there to answer our (many) questions. On the days running up to the wedding she would pop in while we were setting up and just made us feel so relaxed. The venue itself is beautiful, and then you see the garden! We were lucky enough to have an outdoor ceremony and I'm so glad we chose a place with a great garden and indoor area. If it had rained all day, we wouldn't have cared, as the inside of the barn has loads of space and charm, you wouldn't mind being indoors all day. It's also close to Tentsmuir Forrest and Beach, which we used for our photos. Just a 10 minute drive away, it made for a great backdrop. We also decided to take the farmhouse property next to the venue, which just worked perfectly. You are close by for setting up, the cafe is there for food, and the interior is amazing for photo's. My photographer was loving the staircase and all the beautiful rooms and features. On the morning of the wedding, I got ready in the main room, and my husband-to-be got ready downstairs, as our friends and family came to help us, making breakfast and just having a wonderful time together. There was space for all. A and D bar services were OUTSTANDING! We used them for the bar and catering and couldn't be more happy with the service and food. I have more than a few guests come and tell me it was the best wedding food they have ever had, and Alyson, David and their whole team were amazing at taking care of everything you could ever want. After meeting them as we were setting up, I got a great feeling of knowing everything was going to be fine, because they had it sorted. We cannot thank them enough! I would recommend the Rhynd, the farmhouse and A and D services to anyone planning to get married, you will not regret it! We had the most wonderful twilight wedding at The Rhynd on Saturday and are so happy we got to have our celebrations there. The venue couldn't have worked any better for the ceremony, food and dancing and having the farmhouse to stagger back to at the end was ideal. A&D Catering were fantastic and everyone looked after us so well throughout some rather nerve-wracking months of planning. Thanks especially to Lisa. We just wish we could do it all over again!We had the most wonderful twilight wedding at The Rhynd on Saturday and are so happy we got to have our celebrations there. We have been dealing with Lisa for a wedding booking and she has been amazing from start to finish. Extremely helpful and available to answer any questions we have had. The venue itself is stunning for a wedding and the side cafe and staff are great too! Where to start?! 😍 We booked The Rhynd for our wedding, which was meant to be in August 2020 but we ended up postponing for over a year due to the pandemic. Lisa was incredible! Not only was she understanding, she was sympathetic and accommodating and made the whole process significantly easier by going out of her way to ensure we had what we wanted and needed at all times. The Rhynd is simply stunning. We’ve lost count of how many compliments we’ve had from guests on the venue itself and it’s setting. It comes as a blank canvas, giving you full control with no limits or hidden catches. Whilst this may feel daunting, Lisa gave help and advice the whole way through which made the process much more manageable. We are thrilled with how it looked and feel such a sense of achievement that we created that setting for our wedding ourselves. It means it was truly unique to our wedding and fully reflective of us. The Rhynd is also easily accessible from various locations - our guests staying in Dundee, St Andrews or Leuchars meaning there was a wide range of accommodation options. Our wedding party staying in the farmhouse on site and it was amazing! It was fantastic to be so close to the venue, it took any stress of travel completely out of the day and was lovely to get ready in such a beautiful setting. I cannot wait to see the photos! As well as going above and beyond leading up to our wedding, Lisa was an unsung hero during the day too. She ensured everything and everyone was where they needed to be and that the day ran smoothly, which it did. She even carried my dress for me and stood picking confetti out of my hair at one stage!! She had a huge smile on her face all day and genuinely helped make our day what it was. I’d urge anyone considering a wedding venue to book a visit to The Rhynd and I guarantee you’ll fall in love with it as much as we did. We held a wedding here. The Rhynd was a superb venue. The service was outstanding, and they were very flexible as we had to repeatedly rejig our dates and plans due to Covid. The venue itself is beautiful, and a perfect space to customise for your requirements. Reviewing as a wedding guest. Beautiful venue. It's got a rustic look which is right up my street. I attended a wedding there on a Saturday and the venue was simply gorgeous; so nicely decorated. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

One of our couples had a mega party, we had a super pro lighting company come into the venue and set up some amazing uplighters, even more fairy lights, lazers outside and speakers everywhere. The place was ALIVE! They even had their own logo for the wedding shining onto one of our walls. The venue looked stunning, the couple were THE most amazingly well suited pair (and we see alot of couples!) and the atmosphere was electric!

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Take your time to enjoy being engaged and have a proper think about what YOU as a couple want. It's so easy to be swayed by family but ultimitely its your day, so make sure that you are doing things your way.

Get the big ones ticked off the list, venue (and date), band, florist, photographer and catering team, then relax and dream for a while. It's so important to keep the buzz and excitement, don't sweat the small stuff!

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Hot air balloon! Our couple got engaged in a hot air balloon and they had the basket shipped into the venue for couples to climb into and take photographs in.

I love a good courtyard dance under the fairylights outside at sunset!

We also have gorgeous gardens, and a romantic forest surrounding the venue.

The beach is also just a 5 minute drive from the barn

Not yet!

What’s your favourite canapé?

I love a grazing table! Give people a chance to stuff their faces with meats and cheeses rather than having to wait for the small canapes to pass by!

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

Pizza truck...or maybe a proper Italian pasta van....

What is your venue's most unique feature?

I think its the photo opportunities - beach, forest, farm fields in crop, poly tunnels of fruit, stone walled back drops, amazing gardens....there is a little bit of everything in there!

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Honestly...our team, and how they look after every couple from start to finish! We are always on the phone, email, there in person. We treat each couple like our own family and really try to look after them on the set up days (endless coffees) on the day itself (bringing you that glass of champagne when needed, helping you into the loo before you walk down the aisle or picking confetti out of your hair and fixing you dress for those important photos) and on the day after (paracetamol and a fry-up?).
