Description

Whatever your requirements, from elopements to large weddings, we are very confident we can accommodate them. The options at the Cow Shed are limitless but are with you every step of the way to ensure your wedding is exactly how you want it. When you hire the The Cow Shed you have exclusive use of the venue from 10am the day before the wedding until 3pm the day after, allowing you plenty of time to set up and the day after for tidy up. If you don't want to do the tidy up then don't worry as we offer an add on service to do this for you. That way you can enjoy the post wedding de-brief chat in the farmhouse just next door. Depending on the size of your wedding we offer the following options for hire. Both of the below have the option to add on our accommodation options which include the modern farmhouse next to the venue, self catering cottages and our converted shipping containers with outside heated baths know as our Cow Pads. EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE WHOLE VENUE INCLUDING STEADING MARQUEE, BARN, WORKSHOP, ROUNDAL, COURTYARD, PATIO AND LAWN This option allows you the ultimate in flexibility and any number of guests. You could use the barn for the wedding ceremony with drinks in the courtyard and then dinner and dancing in the steading marquee. Whatever you want goes. The steading marquee can seat up to 200 guests and is a unique space combining a marquee roof with exposed steading walls. The venue is suitable to use in the summer and the winter months. The barn can seat 150 for a ceremony and the workshop can seat 10 for a ceremony. Our beautiful roundal room will also be able to seat a maximum of 90 for a ceremony however this will be quite a squeeze. THE COW SHED BARN, WORKSHOP, ROUNDAL, COURTYARD, PATIO AND LAWN ONLY Use of these spaces is perfect for a wedding of 20 and up to a maximum of 60. You have plenty of inside and outdoor space with large bifold doors to help you bring the outside or get cosy with the fire on.

Message from the team

Name of Wedding Contact: Joanna Trust
Hi, I'm Jo and set up the venue with my sister Gill and brother in law Mike back in 2015. The Cow Shed Crail is part of working farm and is located in the old steading which was a Cow Shed in days gone by. You can still see plenty of original features which we thinks adds to the charm. I have been involved in the planning of nearly 500 weddings so am very happy to help advise you no matter if your budget is big or small and party size intimate or a full scale festival theme.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

It is a close call between my brother in law's wedding where it was great to see all the family enjoying the venue and getting to enjoy it myself, from fish and fizz in the farmhouse the night before to an impromtu conga in the courtyard just after the ceremony when the sun came out. The other very memorable wedding was in the middle of Beast from the East, the couple built snowmen under the arches in the courtyard and had the best knees up with friends who had made an incredible effort to get there. We also had to rescue the bride and groom with a tractor as they got stuck in the snow about 5 miles from the venue.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Remember it is about you, your family and friends. If you feed them, water them and play some good music it will be a great day. You don't need to spend a fortune to make sure they have a good memorable day.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

I love when the place names have the couples favourite photo of the guest sitting at that place. Very personal and makes the guest feel very welcome.

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Flexible, Beautiful, Rustic, Coastal, Charming

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

That really depends on the time of year. I do love it when the barley fields are due to be cut and the couple walks through the fields with sea views. Down at the harbour in Crail or on nearby Kingsbarns beach also provides great photos. The courtyard has a lovely warm coloured stone so that also makes for a great backdrop.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

Yes, Mark Beaumont who has the record for cycling round the world in under 80 days.

What’s your favourite canapé?

Haggis Bon Bons

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

A hog roast roll!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

The flexibility it offers from small to large weddings and to look different every week.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Starting it from scratch and seeing it grow.
