Amazing!!Amazing!!
From the very first appointment, our experience with Balbirnie House was absolutely incredible. Every meeting felt personal, and we always felt truly listened to. Everything we requested was noted carefully, included, and discussed thoroughly. Our meal tasting was handled with the same care, one of the dishes wasn’t served quite right as the meat was particularly dry. Initially we were blamed for this and we were told this was because we were late for the menu tasting (however we were not, and were actually 10 minutes early). This could’ve been easily checked before we were accused of being late, however once we explained that we were not late, Balbirnie did apologise for their error, advising there had been a mix-up, and kindly invited us back for a complementary second tasting to make sure everything was perfect. Their customer service and communication throughout were excellent, with friendly staff who were always happy to answer any questions or clear up any confusion. They were very accommodating, allowing us to discuss things in person or over the phone rather than relying solely on email, which made everything feel much more personal and reassuring. The only constructive feedback we would offer is regarding the table plan. It would be helpful if the final version showed the exact layout as it would appear on the day, including where each guest would be seated, as this part was a little confusing. Aside from that, everything was handled beautifully. Additionally, the gratuity was added to our final bill before the wedding day, so if you’d prefer to settle this afterwards, it’s worth mentioning that in advance. Our wedding coordinator, Rachel, was incredibly helpful. She kept us up to date, let us know when anything was needed, and was always patient, polite and supportive. Rachel always had the kindest words for us in every email, which made the whole planning process feel so much nicer. She was incredibly attentive, truly listened to everything we needed, and helped make the entire journey so much easier. On the day itself, our Master of Ceremonies, David, was absolutely outstanding. He worked seamlessly with all of our vendors, including our photographer, and had every detail down to a T. He truly is the best in the business and knows weddings like the back of his hand. He knew exactly what needed to happen, where we needed to be, and how we wanted things done. You could tell how much effort and care he put into our wedding day and just how experienced he is. He met every need while keeping the day running smoothly, efficiently and perfectly on time. Our vendors also told us how brilliantly David worked with them, which made the entire day seamless. You could instantly tell that David is an absolute expert at what he does, everything ran with such ease and confidence. Any little issue that cropped up was handled immediately and effortlessly. He is a natural and it shows in every moment. David is not only professional and presentable, but also such a lovely, calming and reassuring presence. He eased my nerves, supported me throughout the day, and genuinely felt like a true friend. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough. Balbirnie House itself is a beautiful venue, and we had the most perfect wedding day there. The gardens were maintained so beautifully and made the perfect backdrop for our wedding and added such a magical feel to the day. Balbirnie is truly a stunning venue, and one of the things we loved most is that, with so many gorgeous areas, both indoors and outdoors available, you’re guaranteed an amazing wedding no matter the weather. Each space has its own charm, and gives such a polished and classy atmosphere that feels incredibly special. On our own wedding day the weather was very unpredictable, but the team handled it flawlessly. As soon as the skies cleared, Balbirnie were straight on it and moved our drinks reception outside without hesitation, which we absolutely loved. Their quick thinking and attention to detail made the moment feel effortless and allowed us to enjoy the gardens exactly as we’d hoped. The rooms were absolutely amazing, beautifully kept, spotless, and so spacious. They were genuinely stunning and made our stay feel incredibly special. The food was also exceptional. The Balbirnie House Team is the dream team any groom and bride deserve! They are the most organized, accommodating, and passionate team ever, hands down. They for sure have exceeded our expectations. We have all the praises in the world for Leah, Lewis, Robyn, and everyone who helped us from the first day, sometime two years ago ~during the planning stage of our wedding, up until the day we have left the wonderful property. Communication. From the first email exchange with Leah in 2024 - every email, broschure, and agreement, is well written. And in some cases when we have any further question, we do appreciate that a member of the team is quick to answer any email or queries, some even cover for anyone that is on their days off. This feels very special for us who were planning our wedding from overseas. Menu Tasting and Walk around. It was lovely to finally meet Leah. Such a warm and a jolly lady. She walked us around the house and we fell in love more with the place. It is more beautiful in person and we are so happy we chose Balbirnie House. The walk around was immediately followed by our menu tasting. A table was beautifully prepared for us. Leah was there to introduce us to the lady who looked after us. The food tasted very good and the service was impeccable. Rehearsal and Pre-wedding dinner. Leah introduced us to Lewis who looked after us during the rehearsal. Lewis is such a fun and easy going guy that hypes us up. He made the rehearsal easy and fun. Our wedding party and family love the property. They got more excited for our big day. At 7:30pm, Robyn looked after us for our private dinner. She is excellent. Our dinner service was for sure 10/10. Wedding Day. Lewis was back at it making sure everything and everyone is good. He is very organized in an easy going type of way, which we appreciate. Leah left us with little notes that made us really special. Her and Lewis really looked after us that day. I was walking down the aisle by myself. Just before that, there were only Lewis in a room guiding me to walk, and Leah was fluffing my dress. I appreciate that a lot. It was fun and emotional. Wedding Breakfast and After Party. The food was excellent, our guests were raving about it. They came in hot, and guests were served at the same time. The team headed by Robyn came synchonized from dish in and out ~ 10/10. The chef ~ 10/10. The after party was fun. The Ballroom is beautiful and the lights are awesome. Rooms. The pearl and bridal suite are both beautiful. We had a chance to see the Balfour Suite also, where our family members stayed. They are simple elegant. Garden. Clean and well-maintained. We love a beautiful garden and lawn - and Balbirnie has it. The morning of our wedding, we saw a gentleman cleaning/ maintaining the lawn. Katy our wedding organiser was so helpful throughout the whole process, very quick with responding to all of our questions and queries and made sure every small detail was included in the planning. Lewis our Master of ceremony couldn’t have done more for us on the day of the wedding. He made us feel so at ease all day, brought positive energy and was running around for us to make sure everything was going as planned. He really did help make the day feel so special. From the second we viewed Balbirnie we were made to feel special! Every person we ever had contact with after booking was so incredibly nice and professional. We were assigned Shannon as our wedding planner and she was absolutely amazing! She made everything so easy and kept us up to date with what needed done and when. She was always so quick to answer any questions and nothing was a bother for her. Now onto David our Master of Ceremonies… he is worth his weight in absolute gold. We stayed the night before the wedding and he met us at the front door on his day off and helped us in with our things and introduced himself. Fast forward to the wedding morning, he was anlways checking on us annd made everyone feel so relaxed! He made sure everyone knew what they were doing and that no one felt stressed. He is a man of many talents and even saved the day when I had a small dress emergency , aswell as keeping me calm and reassured the whole time. He was so attentive he was always making sure we had a drink in our hand or had eaten during the morning and drinks reception. Anything we asked it was never a bother! We cannot thank David enough for absolutely everything he did for us and our guests! Thank you to all staff at Balbirnie, every single person at the bar, front desk and servers all made us feel so special and always had a smile on their face. From the moment we had our first meeting with Katy at Balbirnie House we knew it was the venue for us! The decor inside is stunning, the grounds are incredible, the attention from staff is unparalleled. Our team on the day at reception, our night porters, all the behind the scenes staff, our master of ceremonies David, our co-ordinator Leah, and our ballroom manager Robyn were all incredibly helpful and made the day flow smoothly. Whatever you needed, they would instantly get you. If you had any problems or needed advice they would sort it out without hesitation. Our guests could not stop commenting on how stunning the venue was and how amazingly the day went. Not to mention the very affordable room pricing, and package deals. The food was equally incredible and guests said they were very well fed and attended to throughout. We want to say an extra special thank you to David, who went above and beyond for us, ensuring that everything went perfectly, including fitting my bustle and fluffing my dress and veil, helping us pose for photos, and running the day for us. He constantly checked in with us to see how we were doing and jumped into action when our Nana fell ill during dinner. I honestly can’t believe the day has come and gone......we’re married! 💍✨ I just wanted to send a HUGE thank you to everyone at Balbirnie House Hotel. Our wedding day was everything we dreamed of and more. If we could relive it every day, we absolutely would! 🤍 The venue and surrounding grounds speak for themselves and can confirm there is absolutely reason why this wedding venue wins multiple awards! Katy Ronaldson, our wedding planner, Thank you for being the person who brought it all together from the very beginning right through to the big day. You were so efficient, responsive, and incredibly organised. Your calm approach made such a difference, and you handled all my (slightly obsessive 😅) tendencies so well. A Huge thanks to the team on the day ....everything ran so smoothly, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder or more attentive. The meal was amazing too, so huge compliments to the chef! 👏🍽️ And to David, our Master of Ceremonies ......wow! Can we hire him for everyday life? 😂 From the moment we met him the night before, he was incredible. On the day, he went above and beyond ....running around, handling any little blips effortlessly, making sure I always had a drink 🥂, fixing my dress, bustling it in the evening… he truly did it all. Everyone commented on how fantastic he was .....and we won’t forget that catwalk moment either! 💃✨ We genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better team. 🙌. We will be back for more special moments in the future, but in meantime, and prospective bride, do not hesitate! get booked in! Thank you all again. Cannot recommend Balbirnie House enough. Stunning grounds, stunning hotel and outstanding team of people. A beautiful wedding venue in every sense of the word. We got married at Balbirnie on 5th April 2026 and it was nothing short of magical. From our very first viewing, Gaynor made the experience everything we had hoped for from a venue. She put us at ease straight away, showed a genuine interest in our story and our vision. From that moment we were set on Balbirnie house as our dream venue. Each member of staff at Balbirnie greet all guests with kindness, warmth and go over and above to help. This truly made the whole experience such a joy. We worked with Shannon during the initial stages of wedding planning who went over and above to answer all queries we had. We were then assigned the lovely Katy as our designated wedding coordinator. Katy’s professionalism and attention to detail made the whole planning process seamless and stress free which was so greatly appreciated. I couldn’t have asked for better! David was our master of ceremonies on the wedding day and I cannot thank him enough for making our day as special as it was. From first thing in the morning til last thing at night he was by my side. He knew exactly what I needed without saying a word and was ten steps ahead at all times. You are a gift to any couple lucky enough to have you as their MoC. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, spotless clean and very spacious. The food at Balbirnie is exquisite. Dining in both the orangery and for our wedding, every meal was delicious. Balbirnie House will have a special place in our hearts for the rest of our lives. Thank you to all staff, from the bottom of our hearts, for giving us the most perfect wedding of our dreams. We had our wedding at Balbirnie, and from start to finish the team were amazing! Everything ran so flawlessly and was so nice to not have to worry about anything during the day, which allowed us to just have the best time! Katy, our coordinator, was so helpful and organised in the lead up to the wedding, always on hand for any questions we had! And we always received a very quick response from her, or another coordinator when she was on leave! David, our MC, was fantastic on the day! He was on hand helping us get ready in the morning, fixed part of my dress before the ceremony, and helped other guests with any issues they had! He took so many lovely photos of us which was great to see the day after whilst waiting on our photos from the photographer. The venue was so beautiful too, we had so many of our guests mention how nice it was! The whole day was brilliant and we are so glad we booked Balbirnie! Myself and my now my wife first viewed this venue for our wedding for the 2nd of April 2026 and we fell in love with it straight away! We booked it as soon as we saw it! From day one of planning with the team to the day of our wedding, it was nothing but first class service!! Leah/Angela & Katy where extremely helpful and always on hand to help with all questions an enquires. On the day of our wedding itself, the full team where on hand for absolutely everything from start to finish, we stayed the night before our wedding and if anybody gets the chance I would highly recommend this! The location was brilliant for us to and easy to access with it being out the way and being private. We even had our dogs there with us to share our special day! There was no noise apart from our dogs which we didn’t mind The rooms where massive whether it was a suite, double or even single room, which had more than enough space for everything we needed. The full venue was spotless from top to bottom with staff constantly on the go with cleaning and keeping on top of everything. The value and the amenities on site was well worth the money as well The venue and staff are first class and you now know why they have won so many awards and continue to do so! Our maximum wedding breakfast count for guests is 216 and up to 250 for the evening reception.

Do you offer outdoor wedding ceremonies?

Weather permitting, our beautiful landscaped gardens provide a wonderfully romantic setting for an outdoor ceremony. Surrounded by mature parkland and stunning views, it's an unforgettable way to say "I do" while enjoying one of Scotland's most picturesque wedding venues. We do not rule this off until 12noon - Scottish weather can turn very quickly after all!

When should we book our wedding?

Popular dates, particularly weekends and summer months, can book up well in advance. We recommend arranging a consultation as early as possible to secure your preferred date. If you're planning a shorter engagement, it's always worth asking about our late availability dates too - you may discover an exceptional package!
