Describe the best wedding that happened at Madeira in Fife?
Thats difficult to say but I'm going to cheat and give you two! We held a Festival Wedding for 120 from all over the UK, many were in the drinks and creative business. We had a cocktail bar, real ale bar, wine bar and street food. everyone had such a good time. Rachel and Liam got married on Friday in the Garden, had nibbles and fizz before going off site for a party in the nearby distillery/bar/venue. They then had their big celebration on Saturday before wild swimming and brunch on Sunday. Such fun and great music.
By contrast we had Neil and Simons intimate wedding, just 12 people at the ceremony. They were married in the garden, had a chef made lunch in The Bothy and a party for 35 in the evening. They made their wedding even more special by inviting their family and close friends to stay at Madeira for the week and enjoy their holiday together.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Let the venue organiser do as much as they can on the day to support you. Friends and family are a great help but the venue can do so much and take away any stress.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
It was a weird one and the chef hatted it but one couple presented each person with their favorite dish at the wedding lunch....such a mishmash but very charming
Describe Madeira in Fife in 5 adjectives
Rustic, romantic, serene, versatile, fun
Where’s the best photo spot at Madeira in Fife?
So many photo opportunities. Must be either under the huge copper beach, on the tree swing or on a Tree House deck
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Madeira in Fife?
WE get a lot of pro golfers, The Hairy Bikers spent a week here cooking in our kitchen (see Fife edition), we had Jimmy Johnstone's nephew here 3 weeks ago but not sure that counts :)
What’s your favourite canapé?
Definitely Asian, probably with prawns, spice and lettuce. Loads of great seafood around here of course
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Crepes I had them at my wedding with a cheese board and they went down brilliantly. Also artisan pies on a napkin with sauce...yum
What is Madeira in Fife most unique feature?
Our ethos...we don't do packages and try to make every wedding unique. Of course they are because every couple is unique but we don't do 'cookie cutter'
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Kate and Chris who are brilliant at loads of things help make an event at Madeira fizz. They are responsible for the gardens but more than that Chris is an artist and Kate was in fashion so they love the aesthetic. Madeira is the backdrop but what happens with flowers (Kate does wild flower arrangements and the arch), tables, chairs, picnic baskets, clothes, style etc etc makes the event unique. I am proud of my tiny but massively willing and talented team.
