Brought to you by the same family team that ran the very popular Old Grammar School for the last fifteen years, The Old School Rooms blend rustic arts and crafts with elegant art nouveau styles, and are a must-see for architecture lovers, attracting visitors from around the world. Civil weddings ceremonies can be held in the the main hall, with it's lofty beamed ceilings, comfortably accommodating up to 150 guests, or for smaller weddings a separate ceremony room can host civil weddings for up to 60 guests. Both of these rooms, separated by a reception area, can be transformed after a ceremony to create spacious dining and dancing areas. These rooms are set around a beautiful private courtyard garden with an impressive arched gateway, ideal for summertime drinks receptions, evening BBQs or marshmallow toasting, or if the Manchester weather allows, outdoor wedding ceremonies as this area is also Licensed for weddings. The striking Middleton Methodist Church forms one side of the courtyard, and can open directly into it. Marriage ceremonies at the church itself are possible in consultation with the vicar. The main hall itself can be set out for the wedding breakfast with round tables seating up to ten guests, or long tables refectory style is it's more of a 'Hogwarts' feel that's required. The hall boasts an original late Victorian stage ideal for live evening entertainment and also has an impressive choir loft ideal for anything from string quartets to full Gospel Choirs. It also houses our impressively stocked bar with speciality gins, rums, cocktails, draught beer as well as bottles, and lashing of the fizzy stuff. Our Chefs concentrate on providing food that is fresh, plentiful and delicious, presented tastefully but without the pretentions of other venues. They are flexible too ... with all the traditional favourites on the list, they are still more than delighted to discuss special requests from Hog Roasts to Curried Goat, Vegan Kofta to Pie and Peas!
