The Monastery is a Grade II* listed heritage site and neo-gothic architectural treasure once listed in the world’s top 100 endangered sites alongside Pompeii and the Taj Mahal. This truly unique and inspiring venue provides a breathtakingly romantic backdrop to your special day.

The Great Nave, the main event space at The Monastery, with its spectacularly high ceilings, stained glass windows and grand altar, can cater for up to 350 guests. The atmospheric lighting can transform the space from a stunning daytime ceremonial space to a dramatic night-time party venue.

Located just outside of Manchester city centre, The Monastery offers a cathedral-like setting with an urban twist. The courtyard garden offers a beautiful and intimate space, perfect for photographs and outdoor reception drinks, and providing a peaceful retreat only a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Monastery is owned and operated by a Charitable Trust - meaning your wedding would directly contribute to the upkeep of this magnificent building, and help us support the local community through our charitable projects!

We know your wedding day is as unique as you, so here at The Monastery we build all of our weddings on a bespoke basis.

Our Perfect Day!!Our Perfect Day!!
From the first meeting with Chloe to the end of our wedding day, we couldn't have hoped for a better experience! We both had such a wonderful time and the team at The Monastery went above and beyond for us. The venue is amazing and we can't recommend it enough to anyone looking for somewhere a little less conventional. The venue was available for us exclusively from 4pm and we found this met our needs perfectly as we didn't want just a standard Church wedding or the trending Hotel based wedding as the venue wouldn't have been exclusive to us, but we wanted more than just a registry office ceremony and the Monastery was perfect in every way for what we wanted. Even though we didn't eat a lot, all of our guests were very impressed with the quality of the food and there was a very good selection of drinks at the bar.From the first meeting with Chloe to the end of our wedding day, we couldn't have hoped for a better experience! We both had such a wonderful time and the team at The Monastery went above and beyond for us. Our daughter recently got married, and having been to The Manchester Monastery for a works event, my wife and I suggested that it would be a good venue. Having visited, and spoken to Chloe, the Wedding and Special Events Coordinator, they both agreed, and thus began two years of planning! Chloe and her team could not do enough for the bride and groom, answering all of their questions promptly, and catering for all of their requests, including the catering... our daughter is one of the fussiest eaters in the world, but the monastery team took all of her requests in their stride, and were always happy to oblige. We were kept fully updated by Chloe, who was always available to answer any questions we had. There were many questions, but she was always the epitome of friendliness and professionalism. The day itself went perfectly, with Chloe and her team turning up at silly o'clock in the morning, (having started setting everything up the day before) to make sure that everything had been set up exactly as the bride and groom had requested, and they stayed until the event ended, at just gone midnight, just to make sure that everything went off without a hitch. Aside from the bride and groom, who obviously got... hitched! OK, enough rambling, let's summarise. We already knew about the Manchester Monastery, and Chloe and the team made our daughter's wedding day truly magical, and one which they, and their guests, will never forget. If you are thinking about using this as a venue for your wedding, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The building is amazing, and even though it is a big building, it did feel very intimate when the ceremony started, and they have some really nice open areas which are perfect for wedding photo's. Look not further for the ultimate venue! Chloe and her team took special care of us from beginning to the end. The guys conduct the day like a military operation (in the background) we just had to turn up and enjoy the day! It was such a professional set up and everything was seamless and perfect! Cannot praise the stunning venue accompanied by the amazing staff enough! Wouldn’t have done a thing differently! Do not hesitate, you will fall in love with this place!!! Look not further for the ultimate venue! Chloe and her team took special care of us from beginning to the end. We had such an amazing experience at the Monastery for our wedding. The venue was perfect with more than enough space for our external vendors and activities. The staff were great and the communication/ organisation in the lead up and on the day was more than what we could have imagined! Our wedding coordinator Kate was fantastic and did everything she could to ensure our wedding day was perfect and ran smoothly. We will be forever grateful to Kate and her team.We had such an amazing experience at the Monastery for our wedding. The venue was perfect with more than enough space for our external vendors and activities. I can’t praise Chloe and everyone at the Monastery enough. They were beyond superb. The setting was perfect. The staff were fabulous. The food was divine. Everyone and everything was simply awesome and utterly amazing. Everything… absolutely EVERYTHING was more than we could have imagined. And it was all down to the incredible team at the Monastery. They made magic come true for us on our wedding day.I can’t praise Chloe and everyone at the Monastery enough. They were beyond superb. The setting was perfect. The staff were fabulous. We got married at the Monastery in Aug 2024. I couldn’t believe we managed to afford such a grand venue but I am very pleased that the options were there. The catering at the venue was fantastic! Chloe was our coordinator and she patiently guided us through the whole process. We had timely meetings to provide details of what we’d envisioned so nothing was rushed. The staff perfected the balance of being there for everything we needed but also being stealthy to let us enjoy friends and family!We got married at the Monastery in Aug 2024. The team at The Monastery were simply wonderful and ensured that our day ran smoothly. We had the most amazing time with our family and friends and my instructions for the table decorations for the meal were followed perfectly. A breathtaking venue and an excellently supportive team. Fabulous. We booked our wedding before the pandemic and were meant to marry on the 1st August 2020. After rescheduling twice (the first time to April 4th 2021), we eventually tied the knot on the 12 February 2022. Nothing was too much for the team at The Monastery to do. Fran was there every step of the way and helped with every query. The day was beautiful - We provided our own table centrepieces and decorations which Fran was happy to set up before our arrival! Every member of the team was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Requests were carried out right away. We had such a fabulous day, celebrating with family and friends in a stunning building with an amazing team to cater for us. It could not have been better. Fabulous. From the moment we first viewed the Monastery we fell in love with it, it really does sell itself. Like many who’ve married over recent months, we’d had to postpone our original date but it was worth the wait to have the prefect day with all of our family and friends there. The whole process from the first meetings and booking, dealing with the postponement and rearranging everything and also dealing with some special requirements we had for a disabled family member was dealt with perfectly by Fran and the team. Fran made everything much easier and less stressful than it could have been especially in the current climate, we were always put at ease and felt confident that everything would come together when the day finally arrived! The amazing architecture at the main church doors

Do you prefer a DJ or a live band?

It's totally dependent on the couple and their guests! DJs always bring the energy and can more easily accommodate requests (although they may not always take them!)... whereas bands are always very engaging and really get people up and dancing.

What’s your favourite canapé?

Cauliflower bang bang, chilli & sesame (plant based!)

Nearly 100ft (that's taller than Westminster Abbey)!
