From the start we were blown away with the fantastic customer service we received from every member of staff at the hotel, our first viewing was incredible and highly organised. The planning part I thought was going to be a challenge with us living nearly 100miles away, but Daisy was excellent at answering all our random queries and helping to plan our intimate family occasion. We visited a few times to go over some details which included an incredible menu tasting experience which we will never forget. The little details like serving the meals on the same plates we would get at our wedding was mind blowing. We stayed the night before in the suite, the staff were very helpful with unloading the car of all the items we had brought for the wedding. They even brought everything to our room and left a cute present of a selection of chocolates. On the morning we had a few hiccups such as not having the tablecloths ironed before the stylist arrived to dress the room but the reception staff were quick to help sort it. They also helped my hair and makeup person with their stuff and park their car. We got married at the registry office in York and then made our way back to the hotel for drinks reception and meal in the Chairman’s suite. Again the small details were sorted, such as putting my bouquet in a vase and bringing it to our room before we ended the night. The food was amazing and all our parties dietaries were considered. We returned to a celebratory bottle of Prosecco waiting in our room and even more chocolates. Honestly could not have even dreamed for a better day for our celebration, everything was amazing and I would highly recommend The Grand to anyone considering getting married in the beautifully historic setting of York. We cannot express how well we were treated, from the moment we arrived the day before our wedding to when we left the day after. We were absolutely stunned by the suite we were booked into for both nights – by far the most luxurious hotel room we have ever stayed in and it was a dream to get ready in on the wedding morning. We would have to write a very long review to list all of the ways The Grand made our stay so special, but to list a few: Sandro and Nigel the doormen were exceedingly friendly and helpful, Eslam made the check-in process completely relaxing and efficient (offering us mulled wine while we waited for our room), James was always quick to offer assistance and came to our room to transport our wedding cake to the kitchen when we had expected to take it ourselves, and Daisy, Callum and Simon in the events team worked incredibly hard before and on our wedding day to make sure it ran smoothly and our guests were all happy throughout. What really impressed us was how much care every single member of staff at The Grand seemed to show towards making our wedding as wonderful as possible for us. Even if something didn’t quite go to plan (as happens with every wedding day), it felt like the team genuinely wanted to help and provide the best solution.
