Co-ordinator Lauren and the Grand Villa Height’s team are incredible wedding daymakers!We had booked our wedding when this venue was Raven Hall Hotel, however when The Apartment Group had purchased the business, we were apprehensive about what changes would occur. From January onwards, we saw the wonderful transformation, which elevated this venue, made it an amazing and even better place to get married! We had a twilight wedding and got married on 31 July at Grand Villa Heights. We loved that we could get married on the grounds looking out onto Ravenscar and Robin Hood’s Bay. We also loved that the wedding meal and evening events was in the large, spacious function room which looked out onto Robin Hood’s Bay. The Grand Villa Height’s team were extremely accommodating, supportive and ran the evening’s ceremony with precision and ease. Wedding co-ordinator Lauren and the team met our guests’ dietary needs and accessibility requirements for individuals staying overnight at the hotel. Lauren also did a brilliant job of hiding the delightful, talented and iconic New York Brass Band from our guests, until it was time for them to gatecrash the end of the speeches and get the party started, which they did with gusto! Thank you, Lauren, Rachelle, MC Andrew, John, the chefs, Andy as well as the hotel and bar staff for making it an extremely fun, relaxed and memorable wedding for us! Despite the uncertainty that came with the changeover, putting our trust in the staff at Grand Villa Heights turned out to be one of the best decisions we ever made. They not only delivered they exceeded all expectations and made our day truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond. Our guests were full of praise for the breathtaking venue, even with the weather playing its unpredictable part. The dramatic views still shone through, adding a magical backdrop to our celebration. One standout highlight that was mentioned time and time again. The food! From the elegant canapés to the exquisite wedding breakfast and the mouthwatering evening BBQ leaving everyone full, happy, and thoroughly impressed. We were genuinely treated like royalty, and that is no exaggeration. Our incredible Master of Ceremonies, Andrew, deserves special recognition. His attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism were exceptional. He ensured everything ran flawlessly, and his poignant words during our first dance will stay with us forever. All of our guests said the same thing too – it was just a fabulous day and no one could get over the scenery! The views are unmatched, the decor and design of the place is beautiful and all of the staff are incredibly lovely. The catering was fabulous (thanks guys) and our band was a real hit so thank you for allowing for the smooth running of all that. John was a superstar in the running of the day, and Andrew our master of ceremonies was wonderful. Lauren, Evie and Donna were all so lovely in the build up and couldn't so enough for us. Also Evie did amazingly to cope with some of our more demanding guests during the wedding (thank you and sorry!)! Ben was a lovely host for the night before, and Bernard did all he could to help us throughout. Then just a shout out to all of the bar, waiting and catering staff who were fab too. Lauren Hutchings was out wedding coordinator, and she did an amazing job from start to finish. She helped put us at ease when the renovations ran over, and reassured us that everything would be ready for our big day - and it was! Andrew and I were married in the great hall - a stunning place to hold the ceremony. It looked magical with the fairy lights and lanterns. We had our welcome drinks in the outdoor courtyard, the decor and the weather made it feel as though we were somewhere in the Med. We then had our wedding breakfast in the brand new function room which was just stunning, especially given the view of the bay. The food was delicious and we were so well taken care of by all of the staff, who even helped us arrange a last minute request for my nephew to sing at the end of the meal. We moved back into the great hall for the evening reception, which worked really well. The evening food of a wok noodle bar was also delicious! John the master of ceremonies was wonderful, and a great addition to our day who kept everything moving brilliantly, as did the the other John and all of the bar/ waiting staff. Lauren was friendly, professional, and always available to answer what felt like my thousands of questions! Breakfast is really good and fresh with lovely coffee. Hotel is situated between Whitby and Scarborough handy for visiting. The best bit about the hotel is you can bring your pet. They are some great walks around hotel. A popular one is from hotel to Robin Hood Bay which is about 4 or 5 miles along the coast. Would recommend this hotel. Returning next year.Lovely homely hotel.
