Gretna Green Famous Blacksmith's Shop

Brilliant day, we’d organised everything in South Wales, the Piper, photographer, Minister , flowers etc.. Each & everyone including everyone in the Gretna Hall Hotel couldn’t do enough for us. Absolutely amazing. It was 23 years ago which my daughter & son in law celebrate next month. Thank you.

we got married in December '99 as a young bride, lovely little place with the anvil and gorgeous setting for pictures. fast forward 20 years later, we revisited it. we just dropped in as we was passing by, the staff were so kind, they let take a little peak round allowing us to reminisce, seeing other couples just married is so gorgeous 😍 the pippers are fantastic, true cherry on top. we'll be 25 years December' 24, who knows maybe we'll be back again 🤞

Booked 11 weeks in advance for a small wedding with 11 guests & it could not have been more perfect! Stress free, happy to answer questions, the most lovely bunch of people you will ever meet who make you feel as though you are in the perfect wedding bubble. Everything on hand to make the day run smoothly & so well organised. We have been back many times as Gretna will hold a piece of our hearts forevermore. We have since had a handfasting on our 7th anniversary & this year good friends have chosen to marry at Gretna & we will be wedding guests to experience a different side to the day, can’t wait to be back & relive the memories! One top tip - book Alan the piper, it was a last minute decision for us & it really brought the meaning of Gretna Green to life being piped into our wedding, everyone loved the day & said it was the best wedding they had ever been too & definately not what they expected, they couldn’t believe how personalised it was! Such a fantastic day & it’s true what they say, once you marry at Gretna Green you will have a secret ambition to be asked to witness a wedding there when you next visit!

Firstly I would like to say that Grenta Green was always my wedding venue from being a small child and it did not disappoint. In fact it was even more incredible that I could of ever wished for. The customer service was impeccable and they went above and beyond from the get go. It was such a person service with the most amazing hair and make up from gorgeously talented @complete Bride and photos from the outstanding @elite photography. I was made to feel the most comfortable I have ever felt and the most beautiful I've ever felt in my life. Highly recommend Gretna Green for your wedding and the alcove package for the meal, just exquisite x

From the moment we arrived at Smiths hotel we were truly spoilt, everyone was so attentive and everything was absolutely perfect.. There were only the two of us so it was kinda like we were eloping.. Keeping in with the tradition of Gretna Green,the room was lovely, the food was amazing, and the ladies in the salon did exactly as I'd asked on our big day,the photographer was so professional, the minister put us both at ease.. the sun was shining all day..everything was perfect

We were teenage sweethearts but married other people .. when we got back together 27 years later we chose to marry at Gretna green on 1st sept 2017 with each of our grown up children as witnesses and my grandson as ring bearer 🥰 It was an absolutely perfect day , so personal and relaxed ! Everyone was so friendly and makes you so welcome..we bought a package from hotel, venue and photographer and it took the stress out of our day with everything being organised for us ! We chose the blacksmiths shop because of its history and how lovely it looked and it didn’t disappoint I cannot recommend marrying here enough ❤️

We got married at Gretna Green May 2018 at the old blacksmiths. And then a reception for 8 people at the smiths Hotel.The whole day was amazing from the staff at the smiths hotel to Blacksmiths Anvil and our photographer and the weather and last but not least our Wedding Party

We eloped to Gretna Green with our 2 dogs and pet house bunny on Halloween 2023. We have a very intimate service, held at the old blacksmith which was just perfect, followed by dinner in the Smiths hotel, in our own private room. The staff went above and beyond in looking after us, even capturing our wedding for social media and looking after our dogs and rabbit on the day. They even went the extra mile and helped us surprise our family with an extra special announcement the day before at the old blacksmith where we revealed to our family we are excepting our first baby.🎃🖤🤍

Our wedding day was the best day ever for both of us ! You see we met at the tender age of 10yrs old and dated till we were 17.Although still knowing we loved each other ,we went our separate ways and married other partners.After 35 years of unhappiness, fb offered us the opportunity to be reconnected by me asking if he was OK after reading he was now separated. I was by this time already separated. Anyway after a few weeks of reminiscing over fb we agreed to meet for coffee at his house.well 5 times I drove by his home,my heart pounding out my chest ,not daring to stop for of us not feeling the same after all these years, but on the 6th drive by he caught me driving by.I stopped and stared at him ,his words were "My Mel", 4hours of stumbled conversation and catching each other looking at the other ,the moment came to say goodbye !! The Kiss !!! My whole body melted into him, the smell of our breaths together, the tenderness of our lips meeting ,there and then sealed the deal for me ,"I was home " back where I belonged ,back with my first and only real love,back in the arms of a man that had loved me since June 1976.Nothing had ever changed for either of us ,none of had found in someone else what we had with each other.we were now 48 yrs old and felt like we had never been apart .Neither of us wanted to waste anymore time apart so we looked at intimate venues and Gretna became our first choice for location ,package and intamacy. Our magical stay started with a night at The Gables Hotel, their were just 13 close family members with us ,we all had breakfast together then hubby left our company with our parents while my daughters set to work on the bride .The time came to go to get my man .My dad's face when he saw me looking so happy was a look ill never forget.The beautiful car arrived to take us to the Blacksmiths shop,we were met by the wonderful piper who played us in to the tune of amazing grace. Mine and Wayne's eyes met we were both beaming from ear to ear. Again he mouthed " My princess" .Finally both our dreams became reality, we were finally married !!! Everything about that day was magical, a day we both still talk about often ,a day that made us the happy couple we still are today.A true love story ending.

Myself & my beautiful wife decided we wanted a small wedding so off we went to Gretna, just us two! We didn’t tell a single person we were going and I’m so glad we chose to do it this way. The staff were amazing, the social media team were involved. Wilson was our registrar he was fab! We had some smoke flares for our wedding photos, and we needed a hand setting them off, the staff were more than happy to help us achieve our amazing wedding photos.
