It’s always hard to choose just one memory, but one that shines brightly is when we lent a couple a staff member’s ring because they had forgotten theirs. A small gesture, yet in the Famous Blacksmiths Shop, it carried the weight of centuries of love and tradition. Their joy was unforgettable, and in that moment, the clang of the anvil and the sparks of Gretna Green’s history made their wedding feel even more magical.

Absolutely, stick to your budget. It is easy to get carried away with all the sparks and ceremony extras, but keeping a close eye on your spending ensures you can enjoy every moment of planning your runaway wedding at Gretna Green. That way, your dream day, from the clang of the anvil to the cheers of your guests, remains magical without the stress.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
There are too many wonderful moments to choose from, but one that warms our hearts is when a bride had a photo of her grandmother in a locket wrapped around her bouquet. It allowed her grandmother to walk her down the aisle as she had promised, adding a touch of love and family tradition to their Gretna Green wedding that made the day even more unforgettable.

Each brought their own charm and energy, making every visit unforgettable. Hosting such distinguished guests adds to the magic of our legendary runaway wedding tradition, and we look forward to welcoming more stars in the years to come.
