The Famous Blacksmiths Shop, located in Gretna Green, boasts over 270 years of rich heritage, uniting runaway couples since 1754. This historic budling stands virtually unchanged and today you can carry on the tradition. Hosting two to 50 guests over three wedding rooms, with packaged all-inclusive wedding offers including two 4-star hotels, Smiths Hotel and Gretna Hall Hotel, to choose from.

At Gretna Green Ltd, we proudly own three iconic sites: the Famous Blacksmiths Shop, Gretna Hall, and Smiths Hotel. These venues are the only authentic Gretna Green venues where you can get 'Gretna Green' on your wedding certificate!

It's too hard to pick one, but one of the most memorable moments was when we lent a couple a staff member's ring as they had forgotten theirs! It was a small gesture, but it meant the world to them!
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Absolutely, stick to your budget! It's easy to get carried away with all the bells and whistles of wedding planning, but keeping a close eye on your budget makes sure that you enjoy the journey of booking your dream day without the stress!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Again, too many great ideas to name - one that warms our hearts was a photo of the bride's grandma in a locket was wrapped around her bouquet so that she walked her down the aisle - as she promised.

We've had the pleasure of hosting several renowned celebrity guests at our venue, including the charismatic Jack Harkness, the talented Dean Andrews, the hilarious Sarah Millican, and the formidable Ollie Ollerton. Each of these personalities brought their unique charm and energy, making every event a memorable experience for all attendees. We're proud to have been the chosen venue for such distinguished figures and look forward to welcoming more stars in the future.
