Auchen Castle is a Scottish fairytale wedding venue, nestled in rolling hills just 30 minutes north of Gretna Green, and only an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh. Every single wedding here, no matter how big or how small, is original and unique. Whether you’re planning from afar or have some special details in mind, we're here to bring your love story to life. The castle, with its romantic turret, is the perfect fit for elopements, while our majestic reception rooms are more suited to larger, exclusive-use weddings. As a wedding-only venue, our expert team are on hand to help you every step of the way. - BBrandon and Jordan20/09/2025The Wedding of our DreamsThe Wedding of our DreamsWe had our wedding at Auchen Castle back in May and it was everything we could have hoped for and more. We're from the United States, and because we were having a destination wedding, we had to place a lot of trust in the venue. Thankfully the entire Auchen staff, led by Fiona, Sarah, and Lynne, are world-class at their job. Communication with Auchen was always simple, and every request, big or small, was accommodated. They translated our vision perfectly. We chose the "All Taken Care Of" package, so nearly everything was included, from the flowers to the cake to the owl delivering our rings and more. And for the pieces not part of the package (officiant, photographer, etc.) -- the Auchen staff had wonderful recommendations for us. Our family and wedding party all stayed in the castle for the weekend – it doesn’t get better than that. We added on the "Linger Longer" package to stay both Friday and Saturday night in the castle. As a result, we were able to stretch out our time with guests and really savor the wedding weekend, despite it still rushing by! The meal plating was some of the most beautiful we’d seen at a wedding, and it tasted great too! Guests are still talking about the banoffee pie and late-night bites. Auchen also allowed everyone to find something to do during their stay – whether it was enjoy a cocktail at the bar, wander the grounds for a quiet moment, or simply take in the beautiful architecture and details of the castle exterior, it was truly a magical place for a wedding! When we first found Auchen Castle through an online search, we knew there was something special about this venue. After spending the best weekend there, we can confidently say that anyone looking to get married in Scotland (local or destination) should not think twice about booking Auchen. The entire experience exceeded both of our expectations, and I could not have imagined anything going any better. We did the Petite Package with a linger longer so my husband and I and all of our guests were able to stay 2 nights. We traveled from the United States and there was never a problem wedding planning with the Auchen team during the year before the wedding. They were extremely thorough and responded to all of my emails with detail. The castle grounds were absolutely stunning, with flowers blooming everywhere and lush green everywhere. We were able to explore the grounds during our time there, and I know that the everyone loved talking walks around. It added to the magic of Auchen! We loved staying in the Isla suite, and the other rooms were perfect for our guests as well. All meals served were so delicious, from the night before to wedding day. The wedding day 4 course meal was AMAZING. Food was displayed beautifully and was served hot and delicious. The Auchen team was extremely attentive and served us so well. I appreciate the extra care and attention to detail for our guests with allergies and dietary restrictions. I will think about all the delicious food on our special day for a LONG time. On wedding day, I had many check ins from different people to make sure I was doing well. Everyone was so kind! Everything came together seamlessly- they truly worked out all the details and I had zero stress as the bride so I was just able to enjoy the day with my loved ones. There was a wonderful balance of wedding day activities and time to just relax and enjoy time with the guests. Everyone loved the time after the ceremony drinking champagne in the gardens. They have a fantastic team of suppliers that they work with, which made planning so easy and each supplier was amazing on our day, including Bells Florist for flowers, Mark the DJ, elegant bridal for hair, and Sweets by Ola for our cake and sweetie table. In sum, our wedding day and the night before were absolutely perfect. We are so grateful that we were able to be married here, and so thankful to the amazing Auchen team for making it possible and being so kind. The staff were all so accommodating and friendly and nothing was a bother - special mention to Sarah, Lynn and Rob! The rooms are all ensuite and finished to a high standard. Quite a number of our guests had dietary requirements and allergies and one remarked he had never been so well looked after by a wedding venue which was lovely. All of the food was delicious and presented beautifully. We had our wedding at Auchen Castle earlier this year and had the most wonderful day. The staff were all so accommodating and friendly and nothing was a bother - special mention to Sarah, Lynn and Rob! The rooms are all ensuite and finished to a high standard. We went in pretty blind and it could not of turned out better and the cost was so reasonable! But it's not just the architecture and interiors that make it impressive - the staff there are extremely impressive, too. The 'all taken care of' package really was a joy and made complete sense for our budget, party size and needs - all at amazing value. It was wonderful to have so many of our guests stay with us at the castle, too. When it came to the wedding weekend itself, we knew that we'd be in completely safe hands and we were not wrong. Auchen Castle is a beautiful venue. But it's not just the architecture and interiors that make it impressive - the staff there are extremely impressive, too. The grounds were beautiful and our guests had an enjoyable and relaxing time. It really is the perfect venue for a wedding and the Auchen Castle team are experts in their field. The venue is stunning but I have to say the staff really made it something special. They couldn’t do enough for you. Special mention to Abi who put up with a few drunk people the night before the wedding and had a late night and then was on for breakfast early the next morning. But to be honest all the staff were excellent. Would highly recommend.What a fantastic venue for my niece’s wedding. - SShall05/05/2025A magical wedding venue.A magical wedding venue.My daughter very recently got married at this wonderful venue and I would have no hesitation in recommending Auchen Castle to any prospective couples. The setting is absolutely magical and I imagine would be so at any time of the year. As parents of the bride we splashed out on a suite complete with four poster bed and had 3 wonderful nights' sleep in our stunning room. The food was excellent - even the pickiest among us were catered for. The wedding itself ran seamlessly. My daughter very recently got married at this wonderful venue and I would have no hesitation in recommending Auchen Castle to any prospective couples. What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Please remember it's your day. Do what makes you feel comfortable and happy – keeping it simple with personal touches generally works best.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Using the table numbers to decorate the tables with a photo of the couple at that the same age. E.g. table 1 had a photo of them at a year old, table 2 when they were two year's old, and so on. I hadn't seen that before and thought it was such a cute and unique idea!

There are so many to choose from. Down by the lake, we love the wildly romantic backdrop of the castle overlooking the water. Inside the castle, our turret rooms offer a very different, but iconic setting.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Yes we have, but we can't talk about it!
What’s your favourite canapé?
Mini baked potatoes filled with our heritage tomato salsa and Lockerbie cheddar.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
The chicken pakoras are a team favourite.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
For a memorable and magical moment during the ceremony, you can have your wedding rings flown in by our resident owl.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
We love hosting weddings and understand that every couple is different. We're proud to say we get to know our couples really well throughout the planning process, and host deeply personal celebrations that feel true to them and how they want to celebrate their love.
