Hidden in the Hertfordshire countryside, Tewinbury is a place where romance, nature and celebration come together. Rolling fields, riverside gardens and rustic barns set the scene for a wedding that feels effortlessly timeless and deeply personal.
This is more than a venue, it’s a family legacy.
Our story began in 1931, when our grandfather arrived from Wales with 50 cows and a dream. Three generations later, our family and over 200 local friends keep that spirit alive, caring for the land and welcoming couples from near and far.
From the warmth of the Tythe Barn to the elegance of Kingsbridge House or a relaxed gathering by the water, every corner of Tewinbury offers something unique. With 53 bedrooms on-site, you and your guests can celebrate, stay, and make a weekend of it, filled with laughter, joy and dancing under the stars.
The Tythe Barn
Full of 17th-century character, The Tythe Barn combines rustic charm with understated luxury. Its oak beams, soft natural light and maisonette balcony create a magical backdrop for “I do.”
Outside, riverside gardens add a touch of countryside romance, perfect for drinks, photos or quiet moments away together. With space for up to 160 guests for your ceremony and wedding breakfast, and 250 for the evening, it’s designed for celebrations that flow from day to night.
KINGSBRIDGE
Hidden at the edge of the farm with its own private entrance, Kingsbridge House is your own country retreat for the day.
Ceremony in the garden, champagne on the lawn, a marquee dinner that flows into dancing under the stars. Inside, the house is yours to enjoy with bedrooms for you and your guests so the celebration carries on long after the last song.
With exclusive use of the house, gardens and surrounding fields plus the freedom to wander the wider estate, a wedding here feels like you have the whole place to yourselves. The setting is timeless, the atmosphere is relaxed and the day is entirely your own.

- CClare & Jake04/06/2025Fantastic venue and great planning teamFantastic venue and great planning teamWe had our wedding at Tewinbury in July 2024 and it was a magical day at a fantastic venue. We chose it because we loved the country setting, the barn and the option of having the ceremony inside or outside. The team were all very professional and special shout-outs to Ethan, who helped us with all the planning, and Charlotte who managed the day for us. Both were very knowledgeable, flexible and patient with all our questions. The food was also delicious and we had many compliments about both the wedding breakfast and the evening pizza buffet. We decided to hold the ceremony in the barn so we didn’t have to stress about the weather, but we were lucky that we mostly avoided any rain so we could have the drinks reception out on the lawn with all our younger guests having a great time running around. One small point to watch out for is to be very clear on your expectations if you are having a bar tab. We agreed a set amount to be used by guests for soft drinks but when we checked out the next morning we were asked to pay for additional drinks costs that had been incurred. It wasn’t a huge amount so didn’t present an issue for us but we would have preferred someone to let us know on the day once the tab had been exhausted so we could decided whether to increase it or not. In truth, it was the only venue we looked around as we fell in love straight away, and so glad we followed our hearts. You couldn't meet a better wedding planning team, always being on hand to help with organising the day, and doing so with the biggest smiles on their faces. As for the day itself, we weren't blessed with the best weather, but the Tewinbury team took it all in their stride and ensured we still had the best day. The food on the day was INCREDIBLE, with all of our guests commenting on just how delicious it was. to quote "the best food we have ever had at a wedding", as well as the amazing pizza that went down an absolute storm! With the bride being a coeliac, we cannot stress how refreshing it is having complete faith in the chef and their team to ensure she isn't unwell from the food. Its fair to say, we were devastated in the week run-up to the wedding with the weather forecast, typically picking the wettest day in August, but honestly it didn't matter. Tewin is just a gorgeous venue, with the Tythe Barn looking just glorious come rain or shine. Everyone just embraced the weather with us, joining us outside with umbrellas up, and honestly we wouldn't have changed it for the world. We have had so many guests tell us it was the best wedding they have ever been to, and how perfect the venue, the setting, and the staff were. And even more, they said the day perfectly reflected us as a couple, which is the biggest compliment and we cannot thank you ALL enough for allowing our dream wedding to come to life. I think anyone that I have spoken to (family and friends) about our wedding kept saying to us “things will go wrong, you cant control it” that couldn’t be further from the truth. Unless your staff are that good at keeping secrets, I honestly cannot think and are aware of anything going wrong. It was truly the most wonderful and perfect day in every sense! Ah, where do i start? I think anyone that I have spoken to (family and friends) about our wedding kept saying to us “things will go wrong, you cant control it” that couldn’t be further from the truth. Unless your staff are that good at keeping secrets, I honestly cannot think and are aware of anything going wrong. It was truly the most wonderful and perfect day in every sense!
