The Great Drawing Room, completed in 1863, provides an elegant escape in picturesque Victorian surroundings and is ideal for those seeking classic sophistication. With spectacular views of the north-west gardens, it is the picture-perfect setting for an intimate wedding breakfast and can accommodate up to 80 guests. In the evening you can continue your day with additional guests (up to 100 total) for a buffet. If you opt for one of our wedding packages, you will enjoy exclusive use of the venue including the Lounge area and Orangery Bar with French doors leading out on to the manicured country lawns.
At Rothamsted Manor, we take pride in offering you our undivided attention. Our in-house catering team will create a sustainable, locally-sourced wedding breakfast menu that echo the rural grandeur of the location.

We simply couldn’t fault the attention to detail from the team, the seemless organisation (they arranged almost everything for us), fantastic food and drink (even ordering certain items on particular request). The team at Rothamsted from start to finish were very accommodating and helped us organise this special day down to the very last detail. The guests loved the venue and I had so many of them mention how nice the staff were during the day. Highly highly recommend. THE AMAZING STAFF From Rebecca who’ll assist with your booking to Ivana, Grace and Daria the day coordinators, you’ll be in amazing hands throughout. Nothing is too much trouble for this super helpful and friendly team. I meet a lot of venue coordinators and meeting Rebecca and Ivana was such a breath of fresh air – they are so welcoming and friendly; you’ll be in great hands! Furthermore, they’ve thought of every last detail such as not allowing cars to park in front of the venue during your day so that the frontage remains clear for photos and it’s the attention to detail like this that is sorely lacking at a lot of venues. They’ve got other fab suppliers on hand that they can recommend to you as well. I know their toastmaster in particular is one of their absolute favourites! 2. Rebecca was very informative, helpful and friendly throughout the whole process. No question was too much and we were even able to visit the Manor House a couple of times! Rebecca really made us feel comfortable and therefore made our decision much easier. I am just emailing you with feedback of our process booking the lovely Rothamsted Manor for our wedding venue on 20 May 2023. Ivana was instrumental in organising the day and we can't thank her enough for all her hard work, the day was more than we could have hoped. The food is incredible! Jez and his team did an amazing job on the day and on the tasting before the day (so glad we got to eat our wedding food twice!). - GGuest feedback14/06/2022They delivered outstanding service on every levelThey delivered outstanding service on every levelBefore I retired I was responsible for a very large "Wedding Venue and Conference Centre" seating up to 600 people, and I know from first hand experience the level of hard work and commitment necessary to deliver a first class product, especially when providing a hot meal for a large number of guests. Your staff were wonderful. They delivered outstanding service on every level. The lady who I believe was in charge on the day, whose name I think was Steph, went out of her way to make sure everything went according to plan. She gave assistance to my wife who is severely disabled, she organised seating and seating locations for the musicians, she made sure all guests were familiar with the building layout and location of loos, cloakroom facilities etc; etc. I cannot praise Steph highly enough, she was just brilliant and with a welcoming and cheerful personality, she is a credit to your business. The meal was of very high quality, congratulations to your Chef and the kitchen staff, and staff service was excellent. If it was yourself who recruited and trained your staff you are to be congratulated. You have a great team. I tried to speak to most of the staff who looked after us on the day and thanked them, but I obviously did not manage to speak to everyone, especially those behind the scenes in the kitchen etc. You have a wonderful location, an outstanding product, and wonderful staff. Please thank everyone for making the day so enjoyable. Ivana was phenomenal and so detailed and thorough during the planning process, always suggesting brilliant ideas and being so accommodating and excited to help. Especially the canapés were amazing, thank you so much for being so accommodating in finding me a HMC certified meat supplier, we really appreciated it so much. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
We remember with awe a particularly dazzling wedding from last summer, on a steamy summer day, that very well suited the magical Alice in Wonderland themed extravaganza. Self-supporting floral displays adorned the huge picture windows of the Great Drawing Room - appearing to be growing organically from the historical architecture. Guests enjoyed miniature bottle party favours of the couples signature tipple and of course there was croquet on the lawn! A wonderful couple and an unforgettable day for the guests and also our staff.

Remember the day is for you - make sure it is everything that you dreamed of and more. Speak to our highly experienced wedding coordinator about the schedule for your day. They really are the experts and will never steer you wrong!

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Our extensive grounds make for the perfect outdoor photo spot, whether you prefer the rose archway, our sculptures and statues, or in front of the ivy-clad gables.
The photographer can also access the second-floor window to take a photo from above of all the guests on the front lawn.
The other two areas that are popular with brides are the beautiful staircase and the orangery with the gardens in the background.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Yes, but we never reveal that!
What’s your favourite canapé?
It depends on our mood, but we are very fond of the crayfish and lemon mayonnaise canapes, or the avocado smash and roasted cherry tomato crostini for a fresh summer treat. Alternatively, our pork and sage bon bon with apple chutney is a great winter warmer!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
The ever popular fish and chip cones!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The historical significance of the estate and our unique place in the history of agriculture is felt when you gaze out over the sweeping landscape. Who wouldn't want that to be the backdrop to the best day of their lives?!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
We are especially proud of the fact that our venue is based on strong sustainability principles. Our income is invested back into the ground-breaking and world-renowned agricultural research that takes place at Rothamsted, into tackling climate change and focuses on food security to help feed the world from less land.
