Description

Enfolded by the peace of this rural oasis with sheep and horses grazing quietly in the ancient parkland, the Ballroom looks out to one side over the 18th century cobbled gothic courtyard, with its unique pagoda doocot, and to the other over the formal Castle gardens where the Camelia House allows the perfect romantic and beautiful setting for your ceremony – with just the sound of the fountains and birdsong outside. For religious ceremonies, there is the charming small secluded family chapel in the wooded grounds, where the current generation of the family was married. Or on sunny days some may want to venture out amongst the gnarled old apple and pear trees in the heritage orchard to take their vows – or perhaps overlooking the Tea Plantation within the ancient walls of the kitchen garden. But as the sun goes down everything changes! With the Castle’s west façade and courtyard glowing gently in the background, Let the Party Begin! Turn on the music, the latest in LED lighting, and truly celebrate your most special day! Please contact us if you would like your wedding ceremony to become part of the history of this magical Castle of Dreams.

The most incredible venue

Megginch truly is a fairytale venue! The most beautiful castle, surrounded by incredible grounds that provide endless photo opportunities. Giles, Catherine and Jan were wonderful, from our first meeting right through to our big day. No ask was too big, nor too small. We could not recommend Megginch more. As soon as you set foot on the grounds, you’ll know it’s the perfect venue for you!

Lovely castle with lovely people - April 2024

The team at Megginch Castle make you feel like you're apart of their family throughout the whole planning process and the day of the wedding. We organised our wedding from Australia through video calls, emails, tours by Fraser's family and we were fortunate enough to have a Christmas trip to Scotland where we got to visit in person. One thing that I really appreciated was when Fraser's grandparents requested to visit the castle prior to the day, Giles and Catherine happily took them on a full tour. They were so happy to see the place we would be getting married, and both agreed that it was lovely. Unfortunately, Fraser's grandmother passed away and his grandad became ill before the wedding so could not attend. It was nice to know that they had at least had the chance to see the castle in person. In the days leading to the wedding the team were great to work with. Jan is great at calming your nerves, she answered all my questions before I even asked them. She even laughed at my Dad's terrible jokes. Catherine and Giles add a touch of magic to all interactions. For our final meeting we took my 8 yr old daughter, Fraser's 9 yr old niece and my two parents from Australia. My parents absolutely loved hearing about the history of the castle and the two young girls were delighted when Catherine informed them that the 'easter bunny' had left eggs all over the bridal suite for them to find. It was such a sweet touch and I am sure they will always remember doing an easter egg hunt in a castle. I absolutely loved staying in the bridal suite with my bridal party. We were able to have a few drinks out by the fire pit to relax. The day of the wedding ran perfectly. I had chosen to use the chapel as my ceremony space. It is absolutely gorgeous! Our humanist commented on how unique it was. It is small but we were able to fit 46 guests in there. The soft lighting from the candles and the intimate size made it feel so special. The conservatory was lovely to have our drinks reception before moving into the ballroom for our meal and party. We had an amazing day!

A fairytale come true

The team at Megginch castle could not have been anymore accommodating! We were so well looked after and nothing was a problem. The day ran so smoothly thanks to them and I didn't have a thing to worry about. They listen, they care and they are very generous and compassionate and kind hearted people. We will forever be grateful to them all. Megginch castle is stunning and holds a very special place in our hearts now. We hope to visit again!

"felt like interacting with a distant relative"

We couldn't have chosen a better place to get married. We looked at various different venues but, in the end, what set Megginch Castle apart from everywhere else we saw was the warmth and hospitality received from Catherine and Giles. Rather than feeling at all like interacting with a corporate entity with employees, the entire process felt like interacting with a distant relative who genuinely wanted to welcome you into their home and make sure that you had the best possible time.

Such a unique setting like no other in Perthshire

We booked after a few days of visiting as it is such a unique setting like no other in Perthshire. Included is use of the grounds for the weekend and an en-suite apartment for 2 nights in the castle. This was so helpful as there is not any back to back weddings which gives you the exclusive use of the castle and grounds for the weekend without being pushed out so the next wedding can take place. They were so helpful on the day and were accommodating when we asked for any last minute changes

" you allowed us to have the day we wanted.."

We chose Megginch Castle as our preferred venue because of the stunning castle and grounds but also because of the warm welcome we felt from you and your family. The fact you and Catherine were open minded and allowed us to have the day we wanted, made it so easy to organise and enjoy. Jan's coordination experience really proved it's worth on the day itself. Her calm demeaner put Caitlin and I at ease so we did not have to worry about things at all and all made our day perfect.

Photo opportunities were endless - perfect wedding

We had the most perfect wedding at Megginch Castle, we had our ceremony on the lawn and our guests absolutely loved the backdrop. The bridal suite was spacious and had everything we needed, with plenty of room for all the bridesmaids to get ready. The location was perfect for guests, coming from all over Scotland and further afield! The photo opportunities were endless and having our first look in the rose garden was magical. Thank you Giles, Catherine and Jan the for a wonderful weekend

"It's the perfect place to get married"

Megginch Castle is a unique setting like no other in Perthshire and we booked up after a few days of visiting. Jan (the wedding planner) and Giles were meticulous with all the details to ensure a smooth running order and accommodating for our requests. The grounds were maintained to a high standard, the ballroom is the perfect size for a sit down meal and loads of space for the afterparty. We would highly recommend Megginch castle - its the prefect place to get married.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at Megginch Castle Weddings ?

Our own wedding! Very romantic with a completely unique family castle as a backdrop. It made us realise that others may like to share their wedding vows here so we began extensive refurbishment of the ballroom in 2020 to make your day a truly 5 star experience. We have at last finished meaning that unlike most venues we still have some availability later in 2023 (including Saturdays).

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Make sure you have a good wedding planner to help you. We have Jan who has organised scores of luxury weddings in this area over the last 10 years and will ensure your day goes smoothy from start to finish...

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

A bride using our holly avenue as her aisle with a piper leading her down towards the guests and the ceremony

Describe Megginch Castle Weddings in 5 adjectives

Romantic, unique, luxurious, rustic, fun.

Where’s the best photo spot at Megginch Castle Weddings ?

The castle as a backdrop from the ponds in the formal garden. Standing on the balcony of the castle looking out over the Victorian formal garden and ponds. Coming down the castle's tartan clad spiral staircase Next to the small rustic chapel in the woods In the ancient orchard with the castle as a backdrop. In the walled garden - maybe next to our new tea planation? The options go on and on!

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at Megginch Castle Weddings ?

Yes! Will tell you who when you come over!

What is Megginch Castle Weddings most unique feature?

The castle itself - with the endless photo opportunities in the extensive surrounding grounds

What part of your business are you most proud of?

I think probably the way we have mixed the old with the new... Whilst the castle is from the 15th century and the gothic courtyard has some of the first ever bricks used in Scotland, we have installed the very latest LED lighting technology in the ballroom and the ladies' loo takes luxury to a new level!
