Dating back to 1582, Lauderdale House is an impressive Grade II* listed building known for its vibrant gardens and stunning views in Camden, North London.
Rich in history and culture, Lauderdale House counts actress Nell Gwyn, King Charles II and diarist Samuel Pepys among its distinguished visitors.
The venue is licensed for marriages and civil partnerships, with ample room for ceremonies and receptions (or both!) of up to 120 guests. Our friendly and experienced events team will be available from your first enquiry to help you plan your celebration of love.
The perfect place to exchange your vows, our location in Waterlow Park offers a tranquil atmosphere while remaining close to local tube stations and public transport. Here, with the terraced gardens forming a scenic backdrop, you can focus on celebrating your special day with loved ones. Once you have said 'I do,' enjoy a special confetti moment out on the terrace and take photos on the grounds, creating lasting memories to cherish forever. Dine in our Tudor galleries before dancing the night away in the uniquely romantic atmosphere of this fabulous country house in the city.
Lauderdale House is a flexible arts space, with exhibitions by local artists adorning our Lower and Upper Galleries. With a sumptuous blend of historic features, including sash windows, original beams and Georgian columns, and modern amenities, such as tasteful furniture, the House exudes elegance, style and comfort. While we think the House is beautiful as is, you are more than welcome to bring in flowers, bunting and free-standing decorations to reflect your unique style and vision.
We have trestle tables, bistro tables, chairs, fairy lights in the Long Gallery, a projector and screen, easels for signage / photo boards, and a microphone and small speaker for speeches, all on site. You can also hire in furniture, uplighters, etc if you prefer. We will have a minimum of 2 stewards on hand to help ensure your special day runs smoothly (no one wants to put away chairs at the end of the night!).
Lauderdale House partners with Pink Food, our in-house catering company, to deliver a delicious culinary experience. Our Events Manager and Pink Food’s Event Director will work together to assist you in planning your big day, paying attention to the smallest details for a seamless experience for you and your guests.
Lauderdale House is a registered charity and runs as an arts and education centre for the local community. The income made from weddings is invested back into the House to preserve its unique heritage, offer low-cost and free creative activities for the local community and run our weekly youth programme.
With such a versatile space, every wedding here is beautiful and unique in its own right! We love to see seeing how each couple transform the space to create their perfect wedding.
Picture your perfect day and we'll do our best to make your dreams come true.
It's hard to choose - anything that takes real advantage of our space is lovely. We have two grand pianos (one upstairs and one downstairs) that can make for a real romantic backdrop when covered in flowers and photographs of the happy couple.
Romantic, unique, historic, artistic, charming
Waterlow Park is full of wonderful photo spots, including the amazing eagle steps, a gorgeous brick alcove, and our lovely side terrace which is the perfect place for a confetti moment.
Yes we have!
Anything with cheese, but our Mushroom, mozzarella and parmesan arancini with truffle mayo is delicious!
We absolutely love a dark chocolate pot with salted caramel mousse. It's best served around 10pm to keep up the energy levels on the dance floor.
Our building is filled with unique features! From our original 16th century beams to the bas relief in the Entrance Hall, from the cupola on the first floor to the ornate ceiling panel in the Long Gallery, Lauderdale House hosts a unique combination of both Tudor and Victorian styles and offers a sumptuous blend of historic details and modern comforts.
We are very proud to be a charity providing arts and educational opportunities for our local communities. The money we make from weddings goes back to support our amazing arts, heritage and education programmes.
