The staff were organised, helpful and friendly. The food was amazing, great portion sizes and very tasty. It was a great atmosphere in the conservatory and my family enjoyed the privacy in such a lovely setting. My mums 80th birthday lunch was a memorable experience thanks to all the fab staff. Highly recommended.I was very impressed with the whole experience. The staff were organised, helpful and friendly. The food was amazing, great portion sizes and very tasty. Initially contacted the team a couple of months ago for an after wedding meal for our large group & although they had a baby shower booked in they were able to accommodate us. The tables were ready & food came out promptly. There was time between each course for the smaller children to stretch their legs & adults to chat. The food was delicious. Would highly recommend the roast dinner to anyone going. Excellent, friendly service. What a fantastic team of people at the Knife and Cleaver. Set in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside, The Knife & Cleaver offers a charming village setting, exceptional food and warm hospitality, making it the perfect place to celebrate with family and friends after your ceremony.
How many guests can you accommodate for a wedding celebration?
We can host both smaller, intimate weddings and larger celebrations. Our marquee accommodates up to 120 guests, with additional space available in the garden during the summer months for up to a further 150.
With flexible spaces that can be adapted to suit your guest numbers, our team will work closely with you to create the perfect layout for your reception.
Are you close to any churches or ceremony venues?
Yes, we are ideally located for couples getting married locally. The Knife & Cleaver sits directly opposite the gorgeous Grade I listed 14th-century All Saints Church in Houghton Conquest, making it the perfect place to continue the celebrations after your ceremony. Many couples enjoy the short walk across to the venue with their guests before settling in for drinks, food and a relaxed wedding reception.
We are also close to several other popular ceremony venues including St Mary the Virgin in Haynes, All Saints Church in Cople, and St Peter’s Church in Milton Bryan, as well as Ampthill and Bedford Register Offices for civil ceremonies.
Is there parking available for guests?
Yes, we offer ample on-site parking for wedding guests.
Can we decorate the venue for our wedding reception?
Yes, couples are very welcome to decorate the space to reflect their style and vision for their celebration. Many couples choose to add personal touches such as flowers, table décor, signage or styling elements to make the space their own.
To make planning easier, we can also provide a preferred supplier list of trusted local suppliers who regularly work with us and can assist with décor and styling. These suppliers can help bring your ideas to life, or if you prefer, our team can help coordinate arrangements with them on your behalf.
Do you offer accommodation for wedding guests?
Yes, we have comfortable boutique bedrooms on site, making it easy for couples and guests travelling to the wedding to stay overnight.
