Description

One of the finest Edwardian mansion houses in Scotland, Hill of Tarvit nestles in the Fife countryside, just 12 miles west of St Andrews. Designed by Sir Robert Lorimer to showcase F B Sharp’s famous collection of art and antiques - including masterpieces by Raeburn and Ramsay - it is a wonderful location for weddings. Adorned with 16th-century Flemish tapestries, warm oak panelling and intricate carvings, the Great Hall is an impressive setting for intimate civil, religious and humanist ceremonies. Throughout spring and summer, guests can stroll out through the open French windows, champagne flute in hand, on to the terrace with its sweeping stone staircase and uninterrupted views across the rolling Fife hills, before being seated to dinner. The Lorimer-designed gardens, with yew hedging, sumptuous mixed borders and sunken rose garden, make a spectacular backdrop for wedding photography and alfresco receptions. For larger weddings, a marquee can be accommodated on the formal lawns. The Upper West Wing Flat , within the mansion house and three beautiful cottages (East, West and Middle Cottage) within the grounds, offer excellent self-catering accommodation for up to 18 guests.
