Haylands Barn is a true dry hire barn wedding venue in Graffham, West Sussex, at the foot of the South Downs. A traditional flint barn restored in 2021, it sits at the end of a half-mile private drive with a large south-facing patio and two acres of lawn looking straight at the Downs.
Dry hire means you choose any caterer, run your own bar with no corkage and style the barn however you like. Venue hire is £6,400 for any day from Monday to Saturday, April to September, in 2027 and 2028, with no VAT. We host one wedding at a time, never back to back, so a midweek wedding costs the same as a Saturday. It covers exclusive use of the barn, patio and lawn, an on-site manager, the patio bar and soft furniture, a 5m x 5m marquee, a covered prep tent and generator for your caterers, a changing room, lighting, parking and cleaning. Tables, chairs and a luxury toilet trailer are booked directly with Tents n' Events at published Haylands rates, so you see the whole cost of the day before you book.
The barn seats up to 200 at trestle tables, or around 150 with a large dance floor and band. It is approved for civil ceremonies, inside or outdoors under the Downs, with St Giles Church in the village for church weddings. You have the barn from 8am the day before for the build, your wedding day with music until 11:30pm, and collection the morning after. There is no accommodation on site; The Foresters Arms in Graffham is the closest place to stay, with inns and hotels in Petworth, Midhurst, Fittleworth and Bepton.

Yes, there is a spacious south-facing patio complete with an outdoor bar, perfect for receptions and enjoying breathtaking views of the South Downs.
When can we get into Haylands Barn to set up?
From 8am on the day before your wedding. Your suppliers and build team have the barn until 5pm that day, your wedding day runs from 8am with music until 11:30pm, and everything is collected by 11am the day after. For a Saturday wedding that is Friday to Sunday. There is no other event the day before or after yours, whichever day you choose.
Is there accommodation at Haylands Barn?
No. There is no accommodation or camping on site, and nobody can stay overnight. The Foresters Arms in Graffham is the closest place to stay, and there are inns and hotels in Petworth (The Angel Inn, The Welldiggers Arms), Midhurst (The Spread Eagle), Fittleworth (The Swan Inn) and Bepton (Park House Hotel), with The Goodwood Hotel for larger groups. Book early for summer weekends and anything near a Goodwood event.
