Description

Castle Goring has been called the UK's best-kept secret wedding venue and is famous for its magnificent dual facades. We offer two stunning locations to hold wedding ceremonies, including the magnificent Ceremonial Hall with its double height ceiling, and the South Lawn with Castle Goring's Italian Terrace and famous and magnificent horse-shoe staircase as its backdrop. On the first floor within the main building sit 3 large interconnecting opulent State Rooms, perfect for enjoying reception drinks and canapes, plus the Castle's State Dining Room with its table formally at Buckingham Palace. There are two further interconnecting rooms on the first floor consisting of Queen Victoria's Drawing Room and Queen Victoria's Bedroom which can be used in addition to the main State Rooms. The Castle's marquee is ideal for large receptions and is situated on the South Lawns of the Castle. It has a fully clear wall to the front to allow guests to enjoy the elegant façade of the building as well as letting in lots of natural light. The setting is very neutral with ivory lining and light carpet allowing the wedding couple to style it as they wish. The structure can accommodate up to 180 guests for dining. For small to medium sized weddings couples are invited to use the State Dining Room, Entrasol or Ceremonial Hall for dining. The romantic Percy and Mary Shelley Bridal Suite is perfect for brides for getting ready in the morning. The Castle has two rooms that can be converted for dancing in the evening, including the Entrasol, allowing guests to spill out on to the lawns. Our award-winning caterers also cater for the Castle's private functions and royal guests. Set in 8 acres of private parkland in the South Downs National Park, with views over the countryside and often roaming deer, Castle Goring is arguable the most romantic Castle in the Land. Lord Byron, one of the country's most famous ever poets, said that Castle Goring was "The most romantic Castle in the Land." The Castle has a wonderful history and was originally built for Percy Shelley (the great romantic poet) and Mary Shelley, his wife, and author of the book, Frankenstein. This unique double fronted, Grade 1 listed Castle is nestled within the South Downs National Park in its own park of approximately 8 acres. When you hire Castle Goring for your wedding, you hire the whole Castle for yourselves and your guests for the day. This includes its many rooms including the Grand Hall with its famous glass domed ceiling, 3 Intercepting Staterooms, the State Dining Room with its stunning table from Buckingham Palace, the Grand Ceremonial Hall, which can be used for wedding ceremonies, the Entresol which can be converted into a dance hall, and the Castle's vast grounds with its sweeping driveway that leads up to its imposing fairy tale façade. For larger weddings we also have a beautiful carpeted marquee that seats up to 180 guests. For a small additional cost, Brides can take advantage of the magnificent Percy and Mary Shelley Bridal Suite for their personal use throughout day. From first enquiry to the delivery of your day, our events coordinators will offer expert advice and ensure that everything is perfect. At Castle Goring we exceed expectations and nothing is too much trouble when it comes to ensuring our couples get their dream day.

Castle Goring is a lovely venue, the contact is good, every one of our guests absolutely loved the venue. There are many places to explore and there's options for people to find somewhere quiet and comfortable if they want to take a break from the event. We were lucky with the weather and able to have our wedding on the terrace on the back side, which was absolutely wonderful. The catering & organizing team which is to be booked along with the castle, know the place very well and are very efficient. The food was excellent. Our experience at Castle Goring was nothing short of magical. From the moment we set foot on the grounds, we were transported to a fairy tale world of elegance and charm. The castle itself is a breath taking masterpiece, a true gem with its historic architecture and beautifully maintained gardens. Our guests were in awe as they arrived and the sense of wonder continued throughout the entire day. The staff at Castle Goring went above and beyond to make our wedding day truly unforgettable.Our experience at Castle Goring was nothing short of magical. From the moment we set foot on the grounds, we were transported to a fairy tale world of elegance and charm. We wanted to marry somewhere unique and where our guests would also enjoy being part of something special. Having sole use of the castle for just David and I and our families and friends was incredible. We honestly both felt like royalty. The day couldn't have been any more perfect. Everybody loved the castle and the food and service was superb. Some of our guests even managed to get a cheeky selfie with Lady C! Highly recommend this as a wedding venue - it looks spectacular, great team and you have exclusive use to shape the day specifically how you want it. Gary and I had our wedding at this beautiful venue last July. We had the most extraordinary day, and now it seems like a dream. Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to change venues last minute and we’re so glad that we did. From the moment we visited the castle we knew it was the place for us. Everything we wished was catered for: picture perfect venue, space inside and out, disabled access, a piano, attentive and caring staff, wonderful food, plenty of toilet facilities and a truly memorable experience. I cannot praise this venue or the staff highly enough. As per normal challenges occurred during the wedding that can change the mood of the day, (such as the weather hindering the wedding breakfast service) we however were blissfully unaware due to the highly professional staff. Nothing was too much trouble for Sophie the venue manager, who made sure personal touches to the day were perfectly executed, and to top it all off Lady C and her son Dima were a pleasure to meet. If you are considering Castle Goring and reading through reviews my suggestion would be, don’t hesitate just book it. This venue has everything you could possibly need and the staff ensure your day really is perfect.Gary and I had our wedding at this beautiful venue last July. Having seen this beautiful venue completely come to life throughout its renovation; it was truly amazing to be the first to get married there! We had countless compliments from our guests about how ideal the Castle was for our big day. It really did feel like true luxury having the whole place to ourselves. The flexibility of the space was brilliant - we were able to pick which parts of our day happened where. The castle has some real wow features. We love the pictures we got on the wonderful staircase. Lady C was attentive from start to finish, and an all round lovely host. Sophie was the perfect wedding planner and made the day effortless. A huge thank you to you both, and all who worked hard on getting the renovations done in time! I'd highly recommend this beautiful Castle to anyone considering a venue for their special day.
