Whether you are looking to host an intimate gathering for 15 guests or a larger reception for up to 150, you will find a truly spectacular venue coupled with all the warmth of a family home at Cowdray House.
Buck Hall with its vaulted ceiling, arched minstrels gallery and splendid fireplace takes centre stage at the heart of the house, and is ideally suited for the wedding breakfast. Drinks receptions can be held on the manicured croquet lawn with far reaching views of the South Downs or in two elegant reception rooms – the Library and Drawing Room – which open onto the front terrace. Buck Hall, the wood-panelled Dining Room, and the Summer Pavilion are all licensed for civil ceremonies.
The house has 22 lavish bedrooms – each individually designed with opulent bathrooms with stunning views across the 110-acres of private gardens and parkland. Additional accommodation is available at the Lodge, which can accommodate 16 guests, and four pretty holiday cottages that sleep 13. In addition to this are two recently refurbished luxury holiday cottages, Challens Yarde and Apsley Cottage.
Guests can enjoy the amazing facilities when staying at Cowdray House including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, bowling alley and tennis court. There is also the opportunity to make use of the activities on the wider Estate from a round of golf on the 18-hole championship course, to fly fishing for brown trout on the River Rother, wildlife tours and clay pigeon shooting. Cowdray is the home of British polo and the sport is played throughout the summer months. Lessons and tickets to polo matches can also be arranged.
