Situated in the centre of Manchester, Hallé St Peter’s is a Grade-II listed former Anglican church now used by The Hallé orchestra for its recordings and rehearsals. The state-of-the-art venue has won multiple architecture awards, including the RIBA National Award and the Architects Journal’ Cultural Building of the Year. Officially opened by HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh in 2013, the venue has kept the original features of the church and added two modern and elegant reception spaces.
St Peter's, the site of the old church of the same name, boasts high ceilings and beautiful stained glass windows. Your wedding will take place in the original apse from the church's consecration in 1860. Tall windows surround the room and let in lots of light from the surrounding Ancoats area, meaning your day will be bright whether you marry in June or January.
The extension completed in 2019 adds two breath-taking reception spaces to the venue. On the ground floor, the Café looks out onto the bustling Cutting Room Square, and makes a beautiful reception space come rain or shine. Upstairs, the Victoria Wood Hall offers an expansive view of the square and out onto Ancoats. The hall is elegantly wood-panelled, with high ceilings allowing in lots of light on the darkest of days.
Hallé St Peter’s combines tradition with modernity to create a truly unique setting for your wedding. Its historic use as a former church and contemporary use as a home for The Hallé’s orchestra and choirs makes it a poignant venue steeped in Manchester’s history.

It is a beautiful building and we felt it offered just the right balance of formality and warmth. All of our friends and family commented on the setting and we felt a really special atmosphere there. The weather that day was pretty awful (classic Manchester rain in August!) but it meant we spent longer in the Halle following the ceremony taking some fantastic photos with our guests. We will always remember our experience at Halle St Peter's with the best memories. We just wish we could do it all again! As my husband, Tom, and I live in London, I asked my mother and father to visit along with a few other hotels in Manchester and let us know their initial thoughts. We weren't keen on the idea of a hotel wedding as we wanted something a little different. My mother knew as soon as she walked in that we were going to love it so we quickly made a booking to visit it for ourselves. The building is beautiful and full of character and I loved reading about the history of it. The surrounding area, while undergoing a dramatic regeneration, is somewhat 'urban' but we instantly fell in love and knew we would need a great photographer to help capture the uniqueness of the venue and the surrounding area. From cobbled streets to run down pubs they all add to the charm and vintage feel we were looking for our wedding. JPEvents were there for us every step of the way suggesting caterers, bands, photographers and florists. We chose to go with the recommended florists - Springbank and caterers - Chapman Holmes both were equally fabulous and we had so many people on the day praising the food and the flowers. The day ran exactly to plan with flawless transitions from Halle St Peters to our drinks reception in Halle St Michaels and back again. I really wanted our guests to fall in love with Halle St. Peters just like we did and when our guests arrived back after the drinks reception I could tell that they had. The candles and the lighting cast a magical glow over the whole room. Thank you to all involved. It was a day we will never forget.
