Fitzleroi Barn is a private, family-run wedding venue set in the heart of the South Downs, offering exclusive two-day hire for weddings that feel calm, personal and beautifully unhurried. With over 25 years of experience, the barn has been thoughtfully restored to create a setting where countryside character meets relaxed, modern elegance.
Couples enjoy exclusive use of the barn and grounds, with access the day before the wedding to prepare, style and settle in at an easy pace. This additional time allows celebrations to unfold naturally, with no rush and no pressure - something that couples and suppliers alike value.
At the heart of Fitzleroi Barn is a hands-on, experienced team led by Julia, who works closely with each couple throughout the planning process. From multiple planning meetings to supplier guidance and on-the-day coordination, you’ll be supported from your first visit through to the final moments of your celebration.
Ceremony Spaces
Fitzleroi Barn is fully licensed for civil ceremonies and offers a choice of indoor and outdoor settings, each with its own atmosphere while remaining closely connected within one private venue.
- The Long Room - Light-filled and intimate, ideal for smaller ceremonies for up to 70 guests
- The Main Barn - A historic timber-framed space with original beams for up to 130 guests
- The Courtyard - A rose-lined outdoor setting framed by barn doors for up to 130 guests
- The Meadow - An open-air ceremony space with sweeping South Downs views for up to 130 guests
Celebrant-led and humanist ceremonies are also warmly welcomed.
Receptions & Dining
Following your ceremony, drinks receptions are typically enjoyed in the Courtyard - a relaxed outdoor space with seating, parasols, an outdoor bar and plenty of opportunities for photographs.
For your wedding breakfast, the Main Barn can be styled with round tables, long feasting tables or a combination of both. Couples may also choose alfresco dining or street food trucks, using the courtyard and grounds to create a more informal, sociable feel. As evening arrives, the barn transforms into a warm, atmospheric space for music and dancing beneath the fairy lights.
Accommodation & Getting Ready
The Hayloft is a private, newly renovated maisonette located alongside the barn, designed for the couple’s stay. It also serves as a dedicated hair and make-up preparation space earlier in the day, before transforming into a romantic retreat to enjoy after the celebrations.
There is also a wide choice of local accommodation nearby for guests.
Freedom & Flexibility
Fitzleroi Barn offers couples genuine freedom when planning their day. There is no corkage on drinks, and couples can choose from a trusted network of recommended caterers covering a wide range of styles and budgets. Alternative caterers may also be considered, subject to approval.
With unlimited parking, complimentary Wi-Fi and thoughtful inclusions throughout, everything is designed to make planning straightforward and the experience seamless.

Name of Wedding Contact: Julia McDavid
Fitzleroi Barn has been part of my family for over 80 years, and I grew up with cows wintering in the barn and time spent in the courtyard. Over the years the farm has evolved, and the barn and courtyard have been carefully restored into the wedding venue you see today.
I have been running Fitzleroi Barn since marrying my husband Mark here 25 years ago, and it remains incredibly special to share this place with couples beginning their own story.

The venue is beautiful as it is but also they were very accommodating and helpful with us adding our own decorations. Julia and Martina at Fitzleroi were helpful and responsive from the very first e-mail. We felt there was plenty of communication throughout the entire process, from enquiry to booking and planning to the actual day itself. We appreciated that we were able to visit Fitzleroi multiple times leading up to the day, whether that was for an official meeting or just to show one of our parents around. We also feel the price of hire, particularly for a Saturday wedding in summer, was incredibly competitive, and was made even more attractive when we realised how much flexibility we had with vendors and other bits and pieces compared to other venues we looked at. The venue itself is beautiful. We liked that it felt secluded and quiet. The barn was lovely with the exposed beams and fairy lights. We felt it required minimal extra decor because of how it looks on its own. The whole site was very clean and well taken care of. The flowers in the courtyard during summer were gorgeous too, and again saved us on having to put extra effort in with decorations! Some of our older guests commented on the plentiful seating, both in the barn and in the courtyard, which was much appreciated (particularly after the ceilidh!). Plus, the plentiful parking and the option to leave cars overnight was very helpful. Everyone was able to let loose and not worry about needing to drive back. Extra special thanks to Martina for being absolutely brilliant on the day of and the day before. She helped us time our successive aisle walks perfectly. The practice the day before really helped ease the minds of us and our bridal parties. She also answered all of my endless questions upon setting up and printed off signs for me that I had forgotten to do. On the day of, Lizzie and I barely saw her after the ceremony, but we were assured by our mums that she was working incredibly hard to make sure all was running smoothly. For example, updating our personalised cupcake signs when there was a mix up with icing colours and cake flavours. She quickly replicated the sign exactly, matched the flavours to the icing colours, and printed it off without us even noticing. We really appreciated this considering the number of dietary requirements we had! Finally, we praise both Julia and Martina for how warm and welcoming they were. The team are so helpful and the running of the day is seamless. The team are always warm and welcoming and the barn itself is beautiful. All the weddings we have worked there have been perfectly executed with attention to detail. Do you offer exclusive-use hire of the venue?
We only ever allow one wedding at a time. You will have exclusive use of all the venue areas and buildings. In addition, you will have full access the day before so you can set up and prepare for your special day in a relaxed and unrushed way.
Do you charge corkage? Can we bring our own alcohol?
As a venue we are strongly opposed to corkage and do not allow any of our suppliers to charge corkage. You can bring in as much alcohol as you wish.
Do you have recommended suppliers, or can we bring our own?
We understand that every wedding is unique. We therefore have a selection of recommended caterers for you to work with.
Is there on-site accommodation for the wedding party and guests?
On site we have the hayloft which is our bridal and prepping suite. Locally there are many local hotels and pubs. In addition, there are local B&Bs and self catering houses.
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Oh we have so many! They include the front field overlooking the South Downs, the Rose Wall, the huge barn doors in the courtyard and inside the Barn itself.
Is there parking available for guests, and can coaches access the venue?
We have plenty or hard standing parking and access for coaches/double decker buses is easy.
What happens if it rains? Are there indoor alternatives for photos and ceremonies?
There are lots of covered areas and ceremonies can be moved inside if needed.
Do you offer wedding coordination or an on-the-day coordinator?
Yes, A member of our small team will be onsite throughout your day and we will do all we can to help with your planning.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The natural beauty and oak structure of the barn.
How accessible is the venue for a wheel chair user?
The whole venue is accessible for wheel chair users. The venue and accessible toilets are completely step free.
