Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

One of the most memorable weddings we’ve hosted was full of personality, laughter, and a few surprises that made it truly unforgettable.

The couple opted for a relaxed outdoor ceremony in our riverside gardens, complete with their dog as the ring bearer (dressed in a tiny tartan bow tie, of course). Guests arrived in vintage campervans, and the bride made her entrance to a live acoustic cover of a classic rock song — a personal favourite of the couple.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a gin-tasting station featuring local Perthshire spirits, followed by lawn games like giant Jenga and welly-throwing — a nod to the couple’s fun-loving spirit. Dinner was a laid-back BBQ feast under festoon lights, with speeches that had everyone in stitches.

Instead of a traditional cake, they went for a doughnut tower to keep the dancing fuelled. It was unique, joyful, and very them — exactly what we love to see at Dunkeld House Hotel.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Focus on what truly matters to you as a couple.

With so many options, trends, and opinions, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or pressured to please everyone. But the most memorable weddings are the ones that reflect the couple’s unique story, style, and priorities—whether that’s a cosy fireside ceremony, a relaxed garden party, or a formal evening celebration.

Build your day around the moments that mean the most to you, and everything else will fall beautifully into place. And remember—you don’t have to do it all alone. Trust your venue team and suppliers; we’re here to make your vision feel effortless.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

One couple wrote letters to each other and tucked them into glass bottles, placing them along a short woodland trail near the river. Guests walked the path before the ceremony, reading the letters and feeling part of the couple’s journey.
