At Backhouse Rossie Estate you are completely spoiled for choice on a Tuesday and Saturday! Often described as a 'hidden gem' this magical space with beautiful grounds, romantic Walled Garden, sweeping lawns overlooking the Lomond Hills and historic Mansion House surrounded by ancient woodland offer you a variety of options for your ceremony and reception outdoors or indoors in the restored barn. The venue is yours - exclusive use. Dinner and dancing take place in our beautiful, light, barn with a fairy light canopy which can seat up to 150 guests. A welcomed breakout area provides extra seating for your evening guests. Dedicated ceremony area, and bar with some seating allows guests to flow easily through the adjoining spaces. A courtyard lit by festoon lighting and handcrafted fire pit creates an intimate outdoor area for after dark. With a wonderful flexible approach we'd love to help you plan the day of your dreams.

The rooms in the main building are stunningly restored using timber from surrounding woods. The business is open to the public who can enjoy walks, a coffee or a bite to eat. You can also hire the event rooms for weddings, meetings and social gatherings. The family who own and run the estate do so with passion and commitment which clearly shows. Both the ceremony and reception were held here and t’s and exceptionally beautiful space and was perfect for the 75 people we had there. Caroline and Andrew were amazing and ensured that the little things weren’t missed and were on hand for any questions the day before when we set up and on the wedding day itself. The gardens and woodland are beautiful and the photos outside have made an already perfect day even more beautiful.My daughter and her husband chose this as a venue for their wedding. Both the ceremony and reception were held here and t’s and exceptionally beautiful space and was perfect for the 75 people we had there. We wanted a combination of a barn style wedding but with picturesque gardens and the grounds of a country house and started to think that maybe this place didn’t exist; but Backhouse Rossie delivered this in abundance and topped it off with the kindest owners to guide us through everything too. Caroline and Andrew made everything so relaxed and easy. We were welcomed back multiple times to view the grounds with both our families and they shared so much information to help us in the planning process, ensuring we had everything for our day to go as planned. We struck gold and Backhouse will forever be a place we go to relax, find peace and reminisce. Sunshine, Roses, Beautiful Walled Garden ceremony, relaxed drinks by the old stables, mature trees and wild flowers, dinner enjoying stunning sharing platters with friends & family chilling out by the fire-pit lit by festoon lights twinkling in the moonlight.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
The barn has great rustic vibes with 4 fantastic indoor spaces - so you don't have to worry about the weather.
The grounds and walled garden are award winning for your outdoor ceremony and drinks plus wonderful photo opportunities just a step away from the barn.
We even have wonderful oak rustic tables made from fallen estates trees and chairs included in the hire price!
So top tip is relax come and have a chat - its not our first rodeo.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Drinks reception by the apple trees with Backhouse Rossie's own apple and pear juice based cocktails. Some couples even try to blend their own with the help of our bar staff.

What is your venue's most unique feature?
The Sculptural Wooden Wall called 'Forest'. Created for us by the international Sculptor Allan Watson made from fallen trees on the Estate in the main barn - stunning and a one-off.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Bringing people together to share and celebrate their love in a venue created by our loving family.
We are really proud of the estate restoration project, spanning nearly 20 years, and can't wait for more couples to continue to create lasting memories here, adding to the estate's history.
