Our gardens offer views of the city and make an ideal location for an intimate wedding ceremony. We cater for wedding receptions from 45 to 100 people, and whether you choose to hold a formal reception, with all the trimmings, or a more casual affair you can be assured of our friendly and professional service.
Restaurant & Wedding Reception Venue Dandenong Ranges
Fortnums is set in the heart of the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, in the quaint village of Sassafras, a short drive from iconic attractions such as Puffing Billy and the Rhododendron Gardens. Fortnums overlooks the spectacular nearby ranges and is set amongst picturesque gardens.
Fortnums has the bright airy look and feel of an English conservatory with a charming atmosphere created by warm friendly staff and relaxing music.
Our menu draws its inspiration from a variety of good honest comfort food and modern Australian cuisine. We are known near and far for our high quality lunch, desserts and High Teas, not to forget our famous traditional scones served with a variety of jams and conserves all made on our premises.
We serve a selection of local wines from the Yarra Valley and other Australian regions, and also stock a wide variety of local and imported beers and spirits.
Wedding Reception
Our beautiful venue will be decorated with your colour theme and many other special touches .
Your package can include:
four course meal selected from our extensive function menu,
cocktail party or buffet high tea,
soft drinks, tea and coffee,
organza table runners,
chair covers and sashes, linen napkins,
fresh flower arrangements.
Our exclusive meals are all prepared on our premises using produce from around the region. We can also cater for vegetarian options, special dietry requirements such as gluten free, and special childrens meals.

The service and food was excellent and the Conservatorium style restaurant is inviting. All of our food items in the high tea were delicious and all of the wait staff were extremely friendly. Canβt fault anything. We were lucky enough to be sitting near the window observing the rosellas on the bird feeder. Will definitely go again on our next trip to Melbourne.We had the best high tea at Fortnums Sassafras on Sunday 14 July. I loved the fact that it has windows all over and gives a beautiful vintage vibe to dine in. The food was good as well. I would highly recommend to have a booking on public holidays or weekends. Otherwise might have to wait for a while. If they are busy, food might take around 20 minutes to arrive. Strawberry milkshake recommended.
