Description

Wedderburn offers the choice of a stylish Scottish castle or an atmospheric rustic barn wedding venue. It is possible to use either venue on its own, or both venues together. If you choose to stay at the castle you and your guests can enjoy a relaxing exclusive-use country house experience. Castle weddings include the use of all of our magnificent reception rooms and comfortable bedrooms to enjoy with family and friends. We can host ceremonies, weddings and parties for up to 80 at the castle and up to 150 at our barn wedding space, which is just a short walk from the castle. The barns offer a more informal, rustic space that is a blank canvas for you to let your imagination run wild. You can hold a religious, humanist or civil ceremony in the courtyard at the barns or in the light, character-filled Cartshed. There are also several pretty local churches just a few miles away if you would like a church ceremony. If you would like to hold your ceremony at the barns but also use the castle during the day, the castle drawing room, gallery space and lawns are fantastic places for a drinks reception for up to 150, while your wedding photography takes place in the hall or outdoors. Dinner can then be served in the atmospheric Provender Barn, before returning to the cartshed space for a ceilidh, DJ or other entertainment. Accommodation for up to 26 people is available in the castle on either a full rental or B&B basis. This is useful if you would like to either stay for several days, or if you would like to book the barns for your wedding but also use the castle as a convenient and luxurious place to rest your head after your party. We also have space for a further 16 people in the stylish cottages and lodges around the estate. In addition, there are a number of excellent hotels and B&Bs in the local area. We offer the opportunity to rent the barns only, castle only or the castle and barns combined. Please contact us for details Core barn rental options include day before set-up from midday and day-after take-down until midday. We are now offering a Twilight wedding package for 2024 that gives use of the barns only from 5pm until midnight. We offer castle rental options with all bedrooms included and the option to rent the four estate cottages for a supplement. It is possible to rent the barns with two cottages or with castle and cottage accommodation.

Amazing venue and lovely peopleAmazing venue and lovely people
We loved holding our wedding at Wedderburn. We combined the barns and the castle on the wedding day and our guests also loved both. We really liked having the first bit of the day at the castle and then going to the barns for dinner and to party afterwards. Both the castle and the barns are absolutely gorgeous and we couldn't decide between them so we chose both! The grounds are very well kept and we got some lovely woodland and countryside shots as well as the ones with the buildings in them. We also loved the castle bedrooms and the estate cottages which were perfect as we had guests who were travelling from a distance to our wedding. Cat was so lovely to work with. Full of good advice and sensible and helpful. Our event manager on the day was also great - a perfect mix of discrete and helpful and between her and our caterers we didn't need to think about doing anything ourselves. We fell in love with Wedderburn Castle and Barns the moment we pulled up and we knew straight away it was the venue we wanted for our wedding. We always wanted a barn-style wedding but when we saw the castle we were completely blown away and delighted at the option to have our drinks reception there. We all stayed onsite in the cottages for the weekend and we even had a couple of campervans in the field. Cat was a dream to work with – she let us visit often, helped our plans come to a reality and onboarded a supplier we really wanted to work with. She suggested photo locations and was professional and warm through the planning. Her knowledge and expertise added to our perfect day. All the staff on the day and during the set up were helpful, kind and attentive. We had guests from all over the world – England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, the USA, Europe – and the location was so easy for everyone to get to, find accommodation and explore. The barns are a beautiful blank canvas so we have full creative control. No two weddings will be the same. There is plenty of space for dancing (we had a Ceilidh), a real bar, long banquet tables and personal touches (for example we had a pick and mix sweetie station). We wanted to get in touch to say thank you very much for all your help and support in the run-up to and for our wedding. We had an absolutely incredible day, and our guests commented throughout the day about how beautiful the venue is. Our weather wasn’t the best, but our photographers still managed to find some picture-perfect spots around the grounds! We’ll be sure to send you some shots when they come through. I just wish we could do it all again! I just wish we could do it all again!
Thank you so very much for all your help in ensuring that the 3 days were such a success. We loved the Castle and it suited us perfectly from the large domestic kitchen for informal Thursday supper to the elegant ballroom and dining room and warm, cosy drawing room to the enormous bedrooms & bathtub (with a seemingly endless supply of hot water - bliss!). Aside from that, the organisation and attention to detail were spot on. I felt very comfortable through our phone conversations and emails that this would be the case but it was exemplified by the phone call on Thursday checking about the pizzas in the Tesco delivery - so thoughtful. The staff were all so friendly and there was a lot of “behind-the-scenes” organisation that I know must have gone on only because I know I didn’t have to worry about things e.g. people being shown to their rooms, a copy of the marriage schedule being presented to us straight after the ceremony etc. No task was too big or too small. I know what a lot of organisation and briefing must have gone in on your side for things to have gone so smoothly which is very much appreciated. I just wish we could do it all again!Thank you so very much for all your help in ensuring that the 3 days were such a success.
