Description

The Laigh Hall with vaulted ceiling seats up to 80 guests for a civil wedding ceremony. Religious and humanist ceremonies can also take place. The Laigh Hall can be set for a seated meal for approximately 80 people and is a great space for having a ceilidh. Upstairs is the Great Hall, which can be set for a seated meal for approximately 60 people. It is also the perfect place for a buffet, or a quieter space for guests, whilst having dancing downstairs. The extraordinary Batiks, tell the story of Mary Queen of Scots, and infuse the Hall with a colourful sense of drama and history. The Guard Room is an atmospheric bar or place to sit, with it's roaring fire and 'long drop'. The Dungeon has been used as a cinema, and Queen Mary's Room is a charming space to prepare in, and to stay for a blissful wedding night. On the top floor you can have a drinks reception or night club, for those intrepid guests who like exploring. For larger weddings, a marquee can be sited in the grounds. A booking at Neidpath Castle is for the venue only, although our team are on hand to help organise your day if you should wish.

We hold two weddings a week, one arriving Tuesday and departing Thursday, the other arriving Friday and departing Sunday. The venue hire rates do change throughout the year, here is what is included in the costs for a weekend wedding: - Two nights’ accommodation for you both in the luxurious Queen Mary’s Chamber - Two nights in the adjacent Neidpath Barmkin, sleeping up to 6 guests - Exclusive use of the Castle and grounds for you to relax and enjoy your day privately with your guests - Dedicated support from one of our experienced Event Designers to help plan your day at the castle and co-ordinate with your suppliers - Luxury Continental Breakfast Hamper in Queen Mary’s Chamber for you to enjoy - A candle-lit ceremony as standard - Roaring log fires inside the Castle and Courtyard braziers for your guests to cosy round - A selection of outdoor traditional lawn games - PA system and portable speakers - Use of the family sword to cut your cake!

Most Epic Wedding Ever! Most Epic Wedding Ever!
We had such a great experience with Sandy and the entire team at Neidpath. From the beginning, Sandy and her team were incredibly available, responsive, and communicative. Since we live in the US, they were always willing to make time for calls during odd hours and checked in regularly over the many months leading up to our wedding. They answered all of our questions quickly and thoroughly, which gave us a lot of peace of mind throughout the planning process. Sandy even met with us the day before the wedding to walk through the entire ceremony. Rehearsals aren't particularly common in Scotland, so we really appreciated her taking the time to do this. It made the ceremony feel seamless and helped everything run smoothly on the day. The day-of team was attentive and kept everything moving without us having to think about what was happening behind the scenes. Kimberly, who was part of the day-of team, even stepped in to help take care of our two-year-old ring bearer when he was getting fussy during the ceremony (the dad forgot he was on baby duty!). The team made sure we were well fed and checked in with us throughout the day, making sure we built in moments of connection, hydration, reflection and rest throughout to ensure we appreciated the momentous occasion. The whole day was very well coordinated and stayed pretty much on schedule. We didn't have to worry about timing, vendors, or anything happening in the background—we were able to just enjoy the day. The venue is also very well staffed, with the day-of team, bar staff, dinner staff, and coordinators all working together really well. There were lots of thoughtful touches throughout the day. Since we were coming in from another country, we were able to order items and have them delivered beforehand, and the team helped us put everything together for the reception. The dessert table was beautifully arranged, and the bar team did a great job. Our his-and-hers cocktails were particularly popular, but there were still no lines for drinks and the open bar menu is quite extensive and customizable. We loved having access to the entire castle and grounds. Neidpath is such a unique venue, and being able to have our guests explore the castle and take part in our scavenger hunt made the day feel even more personal. We also completely forgot about our cake, but Rachel from the event team had packed it up and made sure we got to have a slice the next day along with plenty of other packed desserts. We really fell in love with Neidpath—the venue, the atmosphere, and the location were exactly what we were looking for. It was a great fit for the size of our wedding, and our guests had so many positive things to say. We heard more than once that it was the most epic wedding they'd ever been to! Wedding of a Lifetime Wedding of a Lifetime
My fiancé and I are from the US and never imagined a wedding in a different country. We never thought we’d have a small wedding until we decided on Neidpath. I had some back and forth on whether it was what I wanted or not. It turned out to be the best day ever. Everyone at Neidpath made our day wonderful. Mary, Sophie, Sandy, Ian and everyone we’ve talked to on our journey or planning was nothing short of amazingly wonderful. I vow to comeback again someday whether it is to stay or for a big anniversary of mine. It place is magical and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to feel like a princess or experience a day like no other. I always hear wedding regrets but I have absolutely none. From the very beginning, Sandy helped us plan all of the details, answered every question and gave us expert guidance tailored to our wedding at the castle. We had Mary and Sophie managing the venue on the day, and they were also amazing! They went above and beyond, making sure our day was perfect, paying attention to the little details, and helping our guests have the best time. The castle is a very special place for us, and we already can't wait to go back. It has so much to explore across all levels and adapts so well to being a wedding venue, thanks to the hard work of all the staff. We can’t say enough about our experience with Neidpath from beginning to end. Planning a wedding from overseas could have felt impossible, but from our very first Zoom tour, the team made it so easy for us to picture our day and start planning with total confidence, even from thousands of miles away. What struck us right away was how perfectly authentic, historic and “Scottish medieval castle” Neidpath was. It’s not all new, shiny, and fancy and that is what makes it unique and so special. As well, we loved Neidpath’s wedding packages and what they included to make our planning so much easier. We had the castle to ourselves for the whole weekend, along with the Barmkin cottage on-site. The rustic, character-filled castle gave our wedding a warmth and history we couldn’t have found anywhere else. From decorative candles and flowers throughout to food/catering planning and coordination, so many of the details most couples have to piece together themselves were already thoughtfully built in. And because they work so closely with trusted local vendors, everything came together seamlessly, even from overseas. At the center of it all was our wedding coordinator, Sandy. She was amazing and fun, and working with her felt less like hiring a vendor and more like having a family member running the show. She personalized every detail, right down to tracking down our favorite American bourbon in Scotland for us. Sandy and the team also took wonderful care of the little things that matter most: our daughters’ allergies were handled without a second thought, and their recommendations throughout the planning process made us feel completely taken care of. Our ceremony in the breathtaking Laigh Hall was more magical than we ever imagined, and it felt like something out of a fairytale. Neidpath Castle is also a photographers dream -the stone walls,light and shadows, curved walls and surrounding landscape along the River Tweed all just make for THE most stunning wedding photos. Location wise, travel to the castle from Edinburgh or Glasgow is easily arranged for out of town guests. Bonus is the adorable wee town of Peebles which is a mile from the castle and has shops, pubs, lodging and restaurants. We were both completely blown away and so were our guests. The venue is so beautiful, even better than we imagined. We had a member of staff all day to help us make sure everything was running smoothly, and they were so kind and helpful the whole time. One of a kindOne of a kind
This magical place deserves 10 stars! My husband and I stayed at Neidpath Castle for 3 nights. It was truly an enchanted experience! It is like taking a step back in time to a medieval fancy (with modern amenities). You will feel like the laird and lady of the castle. It is a wee little walk to the charming little town of Peebles with unique shops and great restaurants. It is close enough to Edinburgh and Sterling for a day trip and be able to return to the comfort and serenity of a country estate. The staff at the castle are wonderful. Sandy helped coordinate a surprise vow renewal ceremony for my husband. Though it was just us, Sandy helped make it almost as memorable as our actual wedding. I highly recommend reserving the private dinner while there. It is worth every cent. Their private chef is incredibly talented. It was the best meal we had while in Scotland. If you are a nerd like me, the castle makes for an amazing photo shoot. Is it haunted, maybe. Just show it respect and it will respect you. This magical place deserves 10 stars! Travel Notes

From Edinburgh and the north, go to Peebles. Go right at the roundabout towards ‘Town Centre’ and ‘Glasgow’. Go through the High Street and at the end of it, turn right in front of the church steps. Follow this road out of Peebles and up a hill. Neidpath Castle is about 100 yards from the end of the speed limit, on your left. From the south, take the M6 to the A74M. At Exit 15, take the A701 to Moffat. Carry on through Moffat on the A701 and continue for about 22 miles. Just before Broughton, take the right turn onto the B712 to Peebles. Go through Drumelzier and Stobo and then turn right at the T junction, onto the A72 towards Peebles. Pass a quarry on your left and then a white cottage on your right. The road then does a series of sharp bends after which Neidpath is on your right (there is a sign for it just before).
