Here at The West Mill we pride ourselves on our professionalism, enthusiasm and passion for creating memorable weddings and a seamless service to our couples and their guests. Since launching in 2015, the venue has enjoyed considerable success and together with our unique venue, we believe that our team is behind those achievements. From our Event Managers, to our Housekeepers we strive to create the most exceptional wedding experience for our couples. From the initial viewing to the day itself, we’re here to take care of you and you not only leave as newlyweds but friends too. The West Mill is a magnificent Grade I Listed former industrial mill dating back to the early 1800’s. The mill has been restored and converted into a beautiful wedding venue creating a magnificent setting for your wedding day. Originally built as a cotton spinning mill, the building played an important part in the history of the Industrial Revolution. Having laid empty and derelict the four-storey building has been lovingly restored back to life. The mill’s renovation has retained all of the industrial architecture of the 1800’s and is positioned in a superb setting on the riverbanks of the River Derwent. Inside, think barrel-vaulted ceilings, exposed brick walls, cast iron columns and beams, with breath-taking views of the weir. The West Mill Venue is an exclusive use venue, licensed for civil weddings and wedding receptions. This means that The West Mill is yours for the day from 11am right the way through to midnight. You and your guests will have exclusive use of our Venue and we guarantee that the only people on the grounds of The West Mill will be your guests and our wedding team.

The West Mill truly is a flawless venue. It is beautiful inside and out. It is authentic Derbyshire in this beautifully restored cotton mill. The service given is amazing. Our wedding coordinator Hayley was so helpful and the catering team were also incredible. I'm coeliac and we decided early on that we wanted a gluten free wedding and they sure delivered. Everything was truly perfect. We did have some rain on our wedding day and we had to do the confetti indoors but it just made our wedding all the more unique. We wouldn't have changed a thing. Where do I begin… we married on the 24th March 2018 and the day was perfect from start to finish all thanks to Emily (our events manager) and the rest of the team. The venue is just spectacular and we knew after our first visit that the West Mill was the right venue for us. We loved the industrial and original features and the fact that we were able to use the whole building. Moving from floor to floor ensured that the day was seamless and our guests commented on how relaxed the day felt and how much they loved the venue and setting. The caterers were fantastic and the food was delicious, again we received many compliments from our guests about the quality of the food and the portion sizes. The evening celebrations took place in The Spinning Room and we danced the night away. We stayed at the Mill House which was so convenient as it’s just across from the venue. As well as being convenient it was truly stunning inside and is decorated and furnished to the same high standard as the venue. The bridal suite was so luxurious; I could have stayed there for a few days! We have such amazing memories of our wedding day and the West Mill and the team played such a big part in our special day. The West Mill stood out for us as there’s no where else like it! The team were so good with us, from viewing the venue to our meetings to the day!
