Part of the Longbow Venues family, this independent hospitality business has won both the East Midlands Wedding Venue of the Year twice and was awarded overall UK winner of Best Wedding Venue in 2022. The dedicated wedding team, led by Katie Angrave, are obsessed with ensuring you make cherished memories to last a lifetime. With notable awards for weddings, customer service, commitment to people, teamwork and food in regional and national awards, expect exceptional service as standard, care and impeccable attention to detail.
Awarded Bronze and Silver in the Taste of the Peak District Awards, wedding menus are expertly crafted by executive chef, Adrian Gagea, who trained under Raymond Blanc with all produce sourced by local suppliers and artisan producers for the finest, freshest flavours.
There are 19 individually styled boutique bedrooms along with the Sir Don Bradman Suite complete with roll top bath and panoramic views of The Hope Valley for the wedding couple to stay on the wedding night (subject to availability). Discounted accommodation rates are applied for your guests wishing to stay over, inclusive of breakfast. Once you have confirmed your wedding with a deposit, we will block book all of the available bedrooms for you to be able to allocate to your nearest and dearest.

We had the most magical wedding day, full of love, happiness, dancing and laughter. The Maynard is a beautiful venue. The Chatsworth suite is just stunning. The views from the windows and gardens provide a perfect backdrop for any wedding day and with places like Padley Gorge on the doorstep for photos, it has everything you could dream of! From our first visit, we just knew The Maynard was the venue for us and the whole process of booking and planning the wedding was made simple and fun by the exceptional wedding coordinating team. The level of care and attention from the team was outstanding. They were with us throughout the entire process and made real effort to get to know us and our vision for the day. We were made to feel so welcome every time we went to visit. We highly recommend the menu tasting... sensational!!! The food is just "chef's kiss" and was such a fun part of the wedding planning process. All of our guests raved about the food on the day, many are planning to return for meals in the future! Isabella and Jess deserve a special mention. They are both amazing!! Isabella was with us throughout the day and everything went perfectly to plan. The transitions were seamless. We felt so supported and could 100% put our trust in her to execute all of our plans and ideas. Inside was beautiful and we could immediately see our vision. We booked the Maynard the same year we got married there, Jess made the whole process easy. Considering it was just over 6months from booking to the day, we had constant communication and also 3 or 4 meetings to ensure everything is sorted. Jess gave us all the relevant information on how the day would go as well as giving a list of recommended suppliers. We had the option to do a menu taster event too, that we declined as we knew what we wanted. The food was 5* worthy and is still being spoken about a month on. All waiting staff were approachable and had smiles. We got to set up the day prior as there wasn't any functions, this was a massive bonus for us as we did a DIY wedding. Nothing was a problem for the staff while setting up as no event organisers were there that day. I booked the suite the night before what was a perfect fit for me and 4 bridesmaids. Do be aware you will have to go down and let anyone in (hair and makeup) if its before opening hours. Our dog Rosie got to be there with us for the whole day, and was apart of the ceremony what was amazing. She did have to go in the car for the meal, what was not an issue for us. We was told about a few issues the next day, but the guests quickly reassured us that Jess managed to sort out all of them without us knowing! We loved that our day wasn't interrupted , if anything we wished it felt longer as it went by so fast. With the rooms all of our guest, adored the rooms that we know of. The room given to us for the night of our wedding was beautiful too. Although if you are a light sleeper ask if there is a wedding the day after yours as you may be woken up at 5am by the next bridal group. We had breakfast the next morning what was slightly disappointing. We told our guests it will be at 9am and we would be sitting altogether, what wasn't the case. Also staff acknowledging us as the newly weds was a little disheartening, especially after all the money given for the day and guests paying for many rooms. When asked about getting a juice we got told to go to someone else's table. (This is obviously a hotel staff issue not the wedding staff team) The day ran perfectly with the wedding side the only snag I would say is we asked for no entrance music while being introduced into the wedding breakfast - the music the maynard picked wasn't on any of our playlists and was actually a was meaningful song from an ex partner, and having to find someone to get our room key at the end of night was a pain. We cannot thank Jess enough she was always enthusiastic and nothing was ever an issue. The team were with us all the way from planning to executing to take us to what I can only describe as a dream a wonderful dream. I planned te wedding while living abroad which made the meetings even more important and The team knew this and looked after us. I can describe the Maynard as the full package, an exquisite elegant beautiful gem in the Peak District that myself and my husband have been so lucky to be able to call our wedding venue. The rooms, both for getting ready and the honeymoon suite were gorgeous and it was so incredible to have everything in one place! We want to extend a special thanks and recommendation to Jess, who was just an absolute godsend throughout the whole process, took so much stress off of us, helped with any little query we had, and was just the perfect compliment to the day. The venue itself is lovely, with our own private garden, terrace and bar our guests were able to mingle whilst enjoying the views down the valley from the Chatsworth suite. From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect, and we couldn’t have chosen a better venue to celebrate our wedding day. On the day itself, she made sure everything ran seamlessly and calmly, taking so much of the stress away from us. Nothing was ever too much to ask, and we genuinely felt looked after every step of the way. She went above and beyond to make sure our day was everything we had dreamed of. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean and provided the most perfect setting for our wedding. All of the reception staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful, which made both us and our guests feel so comfortable. And the food… absolutely amazing! We received so many compliments from our guests about how delicious everything was. Breakfast the following morning was also lovely and the perfect way to finish such a special weekend. The rooms were spacious, beautifully presented and spotlessly clean, and the bridal suite deserves a special mention — WOW! It was absolutely incredible! We had our wedding on the 13th of August, and the venue and all staff were incredible. The best of these was the final meeting 1 month prior to the big day, where we met our wedding coordinator Jess and went through all of the final details and precise things we wanted to happen throughout the day. Jess was a highlight of working with this venue for the wedding, as she was so helpful, friendly and attentive both leading up to the wedding and throughout the entirety of the wedding day. She was very communicative via email when discussing plans and little last minute changes that we needed to make, and was super open and willing to make our day perfect. No request or question from us was too much, and Jess was an important part of the day being so perfect. The venue is a beautiful space, and the staff were amazing at setting up both of the wedding breakfast and later the reception whilst guests were outside enjoying the drinks and the sunshine. Everything was set up exactly how we had envisioned it, and we were so happy with the tons of hard work that the staff put in throughout the whole day. Zoe and Jess coordinated everything for us and were super helpful from the beginning. We had our celebrations at the hotel over two days and the end product felt very personal and just how we wanted it. We had a small formal wedding day and a casual party on the following day; the venue was ideal for both and the Chatsworth Suite is really beautiful. The outside space is great and the setting of the hotel is stunning. Would definitely recommend autumn weddings in the Peak District; the scenery is phenomenal. The food on both days was delicious and a big hit with our guests. I had really hoped for pie at the party and whilst it wasn't on their list of options, we ended up with three amazing pie options with chips, mushy peas and gravy. The pies were 10/10! No stone was left unturned with Zoe and Jess' attention to detail for both days and it really paid off. The hotel rooms are also beautiful and turning it into a 'wedding weekend' helped to make it feel like it didn't go in a flash. Would thoroughly recommend as a venue. What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
There are so many! - we love personal touches. We very much enjoyed the cardboard cut outs of a bride and groom at a wedding recently so they were always available for a selfie.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The views from our private garden are simply stunning so the grounds lend themselves for perfect photo opportunities. We are so lucky to be in heart of the Peak District so you can even nip off to the local view points for some special couple shots.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
shhhh - That would be telling!
What’s your favourite canapé?
It's not a typical one but our Sweet potato Paö de queijo's (Brasilein cheese balls) are so delicious! Our wonderful chef always makes sure to make a couple extra for the team which is always a treat!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
You may be the first to be told but, coming soon... Pizza's at The Maynard!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our sprung dance floor? one to really get the party going.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Without a doubt - The team!! We are all about the people and having the right people in the right places. From your wedding coordinator to the house keepers, bar staff and floor staff all the way through to the chefs creating the delicious dishes. Everyone is there to make your day special.
