Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding. Planning a wedding is a very exciting time and we are delighted that you are considering holding your special day with us.
Our aim is to ensure that your special day is as special as it can be and to alleviate the stresses along the way. The hotel is proud to offer a genuinely personal service that you can rely on right from the start, through to the end of the day itself.
Catering from 20 up to 180 wedding breakfast guests, and up to 250 evening guests.
There are plenty of wedding venues in Somerset to choose from, so what makes our hotel a fantastic choice?
This 3 star Edwardian Country House is a great venue for small intimate weddings, large receptions and civil wedding ceremonies. The hotel's ballroom (the largest in the area) can seat up to 250 guests for a wedding reception venue and there are 4 licensed rooms where a civil wedding ceremony can take place. Guests can stay in one of our 23 individually furnished en-suite bedrooms.
We understand that every wedding is different. What doesn't change is the amount of planning that goes into a successful wedding day. Our experienced staff are here to help.
We'll get involved from the initial planning stages right through to the big day itself. Our aim is to make your wedding day as special as it can be while alleviating some of the stresses along the way.
The Ballroom has a built in music system. Musical preferences can be catered for throughout your ceremony. We would be delighted to recommend a local harpist or musicians for your guests' enjoyment.
Civil wedding ceremonies usually last around 20 minutes. To help your day run smoothly, the hotel offers a complimentary master of ceremonies. Once your ceremony is over, the Ballroom is re-set for the wedding breakfast.

- TThe New Mr & Mrs Prior28/06/2025Fab VenueFab VenueWe had our ceremony at the Church and needed a venue to host our reception we were on a tight budget and looked around. the Shrubbery was our perfect fit, no stupid amount just to hire before everything else on top. They had enough rooms to cater for our guests as we had family travel as far as the US to attend the wedding. Everyone couldn't fault the food and the portions were so good. From Start to finish no question was too stupid and Ashley and Annie made us feel so relaxed occasionally saying "not heard of that before, but sure go ahead". The only "criticism" would be the room we got ready in (had my bridesmaids stay with me so we needed a big family room) was on the top floor and the lighting wasn't the best but luckily the girls wore flats and I was able to get changed in the bridal suite as I was concerned I'd trip in my dress down the stairs. Our makeup artist had a ring light to assist with the makeup but of course if a bride had an inexperienced MUA or doing it themselves they may struggle with the lighting. The day flowed so well and that was due to the staff! All so helpful and attentive. Everything was completely perfect. I would completely recommend The Shrubbery Hotel. Any questions I would email her (which ended up most days towards the end) and she would get right back to me. I wasn't able to set up the morning of the day so the staff did it for me and it was perfect!! It looked a million times better than I had imagined! Me and my husband had the best day ever and would highly recommend anyone to get married here. The food, the drink, the staff, the atmosphere, everything was spot on! All my guests have felt the same. Thank you Julia to you and all your staff. I still can't believe what an amazing day we had!! XxxxGot married here on the 8th July and it was perfect!
