The Old Vicarage is an award-winning, boutique wedding venue set within a restored Victorian country house in the historic town of Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Female-founded and family-owned, the venue is led by a mother-and-daughter team who host a limited number of weddings each year, ensuring every celebration feels personal, calm and thoughtfully delivered.
Offered on an exclusive-use basis, The Old Vicarage becomes entirely yours, allowing your wedding to unfold at an unhurried pace. The house and gardens provide an elegant yet relaxed setting, ideal for couples who value atmosphere, privacy and meaningful details over scale.
The venue is best suited to intimate weddings, welcoming up to 70 guests during the day and up to 90 in the evening. Ceremonies can take place indoors or outdoors, followed by drinks and dining within the house or gardens. All catering is prepared in-house by our full-time executive head chef and his team, giving couples the choice between a relaxed, sociable dining style or a more refined fine-dining experience, both centred around seasonal ingredients and beautifully considered presentation.
Accommodation is an integral part of the experience. The Old Vicarage offers eight individually designed en-suite bedrooms, included within the venue hire and reserved exclusively for you and your guests on the night of your wedding. A freshly prepared breakfast is served the following morning, allowing space for a slow and meaningful close to the celebration.
The Old Vicarage is ideal for couples seeking an intimate, design-led wedding in a private house setting - where exceptional food, genuine hospitality and a sense of ease are at the heart of the day.

Our venue hire reflects the exclusive use of The Old Vicarage — a restored Victorian country house offered as a private home for the day. From the moment you arrive, the house and grounds are yours alone, allowing your celebration to unfold at an unhurried, considered pace.
Venue hire includes full access to the house and gardens, use of our beautifully designed ceremony and reception spaces, and the support of our experienced in-house team throughout your planning journey and on the day itself. We host only a limited number of weddings each year, ensuring every couple receives a highly personal, attentive experience.
Also included within the venue hire are our eight boutique en-suite bedrooms for overnight accommodation, reserved exclusively for you and your guests on the night of your wedding, along with a freshly prepared breakfast served the following morning.
Our venue hire fee reflects the privacy, care and attention we offer, as well as the flexibility to make the house entirely your own.

The food was fantastic. The day was so well run and organised. We didn’t need to think about a thing. All our family and friends commented on how beautiful the venue is, how lovely the rooms are, how good the food was, and how lovely the team were and how hard they all worked. It all came together to create a very special day. I highly recommend this venue. I wish I could go back and do it all again. This venue is absolutely stunning and the team are amazing. I cannot thank Laura and the team enough for all of their hard work. The food was fantastic. The day was so well run and organised. We didn’t need to think about a thing. All our family and friends commented on how beautiful the venue is, how lovely the rooms are, how good the food was, and how lovely the team were and how hard they all worked. The venue is absolutely beautiful both inside and out. Laura is amazing from making the booking nearly 2 years before our wedding day right up until the day after she was extremely responsive and helpful in answering many questions via email and was unbelievable when we arrived for our exclusivity the night before our wedding all the way through to us leaving the morning after our wedding-she is a machine! Always smiling, guides the team around her with expertise and professionalism so that everything just runs so smoothly. All our guests commented on the amazing venue, the rooms and the food. The food was so tasty and presented beautifully. There really is no need to worry about anything on the day Laura and her team guide you every step of the way and whatever you are unsure of they have the answer and reassurance needed. The only downside was it was all over too quickly. - SStacy and Dan11/04/2023Terrible terms and conditions Terrible terms and conditionsJust so there are no crossed wires about the whereabouts of this venue this review is based on my dealings and service regarding our wedding booking at the Old Vicarage in Southwell, Nottingham. Laura, who is the only lady I have met at this venue due to her showing my fiancée and I around for our viewing for a potential wedding there , she was lovely, open, friendly and honest, we spent just over an hour with her one Sunday afternoon (end of Jan 2023) whilst she beamed about the venue, showed us around all of the wonderful bedrooms and she was proud to let us know she got married there. All was well and within a few days we were keen to get a booking in (paid early Feb for a wedding on a Saturday in June 2024. The old vicarage was the only venue we had viewed, we looked at various venues online so we felt the Old Vicarage was right for us due to the decor, the location and the layout of the venue plus having Laura alongside to work with. We handed over 1K to lock in a wedding date via bank transfer (should have noticed a red flag here as only bank transfer and cash were accepted) After reading all of the pages of the contract thoroughly (and there were a few) we felt really concerned. We didn’t expect such harsh and unrealistic terms and conditions. I would advise if you are planning to get married here these are the terms you and your partner need to agree with- 1. The total cost given is with and without VAT in the contract so with some and without in other parts of it so you need to work it out and read very carefully 2. Be prepared to NOT be able to taste the food they will be presenting to your guests for the wedding breakfast as they just don’t offer that piece of mind 3. No draught beer!!! Terrible for the chaps. Min card payment of £10 and no cash accepted at the bar (doesn’t matter if you were planning on paying for all but in case you decide to have a fixed figure behind the ‘bar’ this could be an issue for the odd guest 4. There are 8 bedrooms at the old vicarage, each being £195 per room (without VAT and including breakfast) so that’s £1870 total. If you would like to stay the night before your wedding (which I wanted to, you are penalised for it) so you can but for over double as much as the night of your wedding (£4200 that’s including the VAT of which I did the Math for) with zero negotiation even them not having a wedding at the venue the day before. 5. You can only arrive at the venue 1 hour before the wedding ceremony (no earlier!!) and you are limited to who comes in the bridal suite with you. So if you would like photos arriving and time to get into your wedding dress and have a glass so you are feeling nice and relaxed forget it! 6. No fridges available for your cake or flowers 7. Any staff member are within their rights to enter any of our guests bedrooms at any time and take any alcohol that has been purchased outside of the venue and will charge £50 for EACH item found. Wow! (Not that any of our guests would consider this but the old vicarage is very keen to keep the money coming in) 8. If you do for whatever reason decide to cancel you will be charged £120 per hour based on the time the wedding planner/s have spent to date 9. Further, once we had paid the £19.900 for this (of which we had to add the canapés because they forgot that cost) we get the pleasure of being charged a further ‘non-discretionary’ 3% of the whole balance to pay the staff that are on shift for our wedding day to cover their wages. 10. If you would like an outside wedding you can have it for an additional fee, that was fine with us however we were not allowed to chance it up until the day before but make a decision a week before Once I flagged all of our concerns I was told there will not be any refund of our £1000 despite them having a ‘14 day change of mind policy’ and they did not deem it necessary to even explain why. Suzanne Fitzpatrick (the owner of the venue) who I dealt with via email whilst asking if it was possible for our deposit back was a hard person and really difficult, not even an alternative or half based on the wedding being in a year and a half was even considered. The whole contract had holes in. I spoke with Suzanne for the first time over the phone today. Terribly patronising. Timeline- Paid the deposit 2nd Feb 2023 Sent back the signed event order schedule 20th Feb 2023 Cancelled the 24th having not wanted to send the terms and conditions back signed and based on all noted above she didn’t offer a compromise just said she didn’t have to give it back. I really wasn’t expecting to read all the agreements required this is why I am leaving a review to urge others to read thoroughly. - DDave & Hannah04/01/2023The perfect dayThe perfect dayWhere do we start with The Old Vicarage Boutique..it was complete perfection. Before we went to our first meeting, we knew that we wanted this beautiful venue for our wedding, however, we could have never imagined how exceptional it was actually going to be. Before and during the wedding, the organisation of the team and their attention to detail was outstanding. Chelsea spent time going through every little detail with us in our pre wedding meetings, making sure every aspect of the day was covered. The day itself was incredible, the team were so well co-ordinated, and it ran so smoothly. Laura and Helen were always on hand to talk us through what was next and keeping us completely organised throughout. Every aspect was catered for, such as setting up the indoor ceremony area should we have needed to move our outdoor ceremony inside last minute. It is only now looking back, we realise how many jobs were being done in the background to ensure we and all our guests had everything they needed. The choice of food available is fantastic. Each of the options we selected were delicious and perfectly portioned, all our guests loved it too. The wine was superb and the service top notch. The venue itself is incredible with the modern chic décor, it has such a homely warmth about it whilst being so stylish. We loved being able to wake up there the next day too, in the beautiful bridal suite. We can’t thank you all enough for the best day! We are struggling to sum up how perfect our whole journey was with TOV but we’ve tried our best with this. Every single detail was faultless, everyone commented on how the service and the day was seamless. This is all thanks to the team and especially Laura. Having gone to school with Laura it felt like we had come full circle having her help plan our wedding, her friendly nature put everyone at ease and she certainly did that with us. Without Laura on the morning of my wedding I would have been a nervous wreck (however I still cried the whole way down the isle) never the less your calming nature and infectious smile helped exactly when I needed it the most. From the initial meeting through to the morning of our wedding, nothing was ever too much. The food, the beautiful venue, the team .. just everything, from the bottom of our hearts thank you! The day was flawless, the staff were incredible; highly professional yet so friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much. The food and service was exceptional. The venue is by far the best with the decor and attention to deal, outstanding! I would highly recommend this venue to everyone. From start to finish this venue and its staff were truly amazing and went above and beyond for us. Package prices, with options to add on extras. The venue is decorated so well, there was no need to hire an extra supplier for this. We innitally looked around the venue, booked and received a envolpe of their recommended suppliers - we used some of these, who were also amazing and used some who we found on our own. The venue provides for you a planner and a working document, your 'wedding notes' and when you have finished this document, the wedding is planned. As wedding planning is very stressful, the help and organisation of this venue and its staff made everything so much easier for us and meant that we never once doubted the success of our wedding day itself. Our planner Laura was superb - she could not have helped us enough during our meetings with her and she was very friendly, informative and gave her genuine advise. The venue replied to any questions we had in between meetings and before the big day via email immediately, everytime. The wedding day itself was a huge success - the ceremony was lovely, the food was delicious and the reception was great. We and our guests had a fab day and there is no doubt in our mind that this venue had a huge part to play in this as it is so beautiful and the staff there were so helpful and organised. What makes The Old Vicarage different from other wedding venues?
We host a limited number of weddings each year and offer the house on an exclusive-use basis, so every celebration feels calm, personal and unhurried. As a family-run, female-founded venue with an in-house executive chef, we’re able to care deeply about the details - from the food on the plate to the feeling in each room.
What is it like planning a wedding with you?
Relaxed, organised and very personal. From your first viewing to the wedding day itself, you’ll be looked after by a small, consistent team who know the house inside and out. We’re here to guide you, answer questions and make planning feel enjoyable rather than overwhelming.
Do you offer exclusive use of the venue?
Yes - always. When you marry at The Old Vicarage, the house and gardens are yours alone for the day and night. There are no shared spaces, no other weddings, and no interruptions - just complete privacy for you and your guests.
Do you use in-house catering or external caterers?
All catering is created and delivered in-house by our full-time executive chef and his team. This allows us to maintain a consistently high standard and offer menus that feel thoughtful, seasonal and well-paced. Couples can choose between a relaxed, sociable dining style or a more refined fine-dining experience.
Is The Old Vicarage best suited to large or small weddings?
We specialise in intimate weddings. Our spaces are designed for up to 70 daytime guests and 90 in the evening, making us ideal for couples who value atmosphere, connection and quality over scale.
Is accommodation included?
Yes. Our eight individually designed en-suite bedrooms are included within the venue hire and reserved exclusively for you and your guests on the night of your wedding. The following morning, everyone is invited to enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast together — a relaxed and meaningful way to close the celebration.
Can we personalise the styling and layout?
Very much so. We encourage couples to make the house feel like their own, whether that’s through florals, table styling or subtle personal touches. Our spaces are already thoughtfully designed, so most couples find they need very little to create something beautiful.
Do you allow children at weddings?
Yes - children are very welcome at The Old Vicarage. As an intimate, family-run venue, we understand how important it is for loved ones of all ages to be part of the day.
Do you host more than one wedding at a time?
No. We host only one wedding per day, always. Your celebration will never overlap with another, and the house and grounds remain entirely yours throughout your stay.
What time does the wedding day start and finish?
The house is available to you from the morning of your wedding, allowing time to get ready at a relaxed pace. Celebrations continue into the evening, with music finishing at an agreed time, followed by a comfortable overnight stay for you and your guests.
