The Old Vicarage is a family run business, which makes this wedding venue very different from all of the rest. We aim to make each wedding individual and we value the uniqueness, intimacy and exclusivity that our beautiful building offers. Our boutique wedding venue is set in the heart of the historic town of Southwell, Nottinghamshire. At The Old Vicarage we have found our niche; our small Vicarage is the perfect place for your intimate wedding. Our package price is based on 50 daytime guests and up to 80 evening guests. We can however have up to 70 daytime guests, additional guests are charged at £125.00 per head plus VAT.

This venue is absolutely stunning and the team are amazing. I cannot thank Laura and the team enough for all of their hard work. The food was fantastic. The day was so well run and organised. We didn’t need to think about a thing. All our family and friends commented on how beautiful the venue is, how lovely the rooms are, how good the food was, and how lovely the team were and how hard they all worked. It all came together to create a very special day. I highly recommend this venue. I wish I could go back and do it all again. This venue is absolutely stunning and the team are amazing. I cannot thank Laura and the team enough for all of their hard work. The food was fantastic. The day was so well run and organised. We didn’t need to think about a thing. All our family and friends commented on how beautiful the venue is, how lovely the rooms are, how good the food was, and how lovely the team were and how hard they all worked. From the moment we drove up the drive to have a look around The Old Vicarage we knew it was special. The venue is absolutely beautiful both inside and out. Laura is amazing from making the booking nearly 2 years before our wedding day right up until the day after she was extremely responsive and helpful in answering many questions via email and was unbelievable when we arrived for our exclusivity the night before our wedding all the way through to us leaving the morning after our wedding-she is a machine! Always smiling, guides the team around her with expertise and professionalism so that everything just runs so smoothly. All our guests commented on the amazing venue, the rooms and the food. The food was so tasty and presented beautifully. There really is no need to worry about anything on the day Laura and her team guide you every step of the way and whatever you are unsure of they have the answer and reassurance needed. The only downside was it was all over too quickly. Terrible terms and conditions Terrible terms and conditions
Just so there are no crossed wires about the whereabouts of this venue this review is based on my dealings and service regarding our wedding booking at the Old Vicarage in Southwell, Nottingham. Laura, who is the only lady I have met at this venue due to her showing my fiancée and I around for our viewing for a potential wedding there , she was lovely, open, friendly and honest, we spent just over an hour with her one Sunday afternoon (end of Jan 2023) whilst she beamed about the venue, showed us around all of the wonderful bedrooms and she was proud to let us know she got married there. All was well and within a few days we were keen to get a booking in (paid early Feb for a wedding on a Saturday in June 2024. The old vicarage was the only venue we had viewed, we looked at various venues online so we felt the Old Vicarage was right for us due to the decor, the location and the layout of the venue plus having Laura alongside to work with. We handed over 1K to lock in a wedding date via bank transfer (should have noticed a red flag here as only bank transfer and cash were accepted) After reading all of the pages of the contract thoroughly (and there were a few) we felt really concerned. We didn’t expect such harsh and unrealistic terms and conditions. I would advise if you are planning to get married here these are the terms you and your partner need to agree with- 1. The total cost given is with and without VAT in the contract so with some and without in other parts of it so you need to work it out and read very carefully 2. Be prepared to NOT be able to taste the food they will be presenting to your guests for the wedding breakfast as they just don’t offer that piece of mind 3. No draught beer!!! Terrible for the chaps. Min card payment of £10 and no cash accepted at the bar (doesn’t matter if you were planning on paying for all but in case you decide to have a fixed figure behind the ‘bar’ this could be an issue for the odd guest 4. There are 8 bedrooms at the old vicarage, each being £195 per room (without VAT and including breakfast) so that’s £1870 total. If you would like to stay the night before your wedding (which I wanted to, you are penalised for it) so you can but for over double as much as the night of your wedding (£4200 that’s including the VAT of which I did the Math for) with zero negotiation even them not having a wedding at the venue the day before. 5. You can only arrive at the venue 1 hour before the wedding ceremony (no earlier!!) and you are limited to who comes in the bridal suite with you. So if you would like photos arriving and time to get into your wedding dress and have a glass so you are feeling nice and relaxed forget it! 6. No fridges available for your cake or flowers 7. Any staff member are within their rights to enter any of our guests bedrooms at any time and take any alcohol that has been purchased outside of the venue and will charge £50 for EACH item found. Wow! (Not that any of our guests would consider this but the old vicarage is very keen to keep the money coming in) 8. If you do for whatever reason decide to cancel you will be charged £120 per hour based on the time the wedding planner/s have spent to date 9. Further, once we had paid the £19.900 for this (of which we had to add the canapés because they forgot that cost) we get the pleasure of being charged a further ‘non-discretionary’ 3% of the whole balance to pay the staff that are on shift for our wedding day to cover their wages. 10. If you would like an outside wedding you can have it for an additional fee, that was fine with us however we were not allowed to chance it up until the day before but make a decision a week before Once I flagged all of our concerns I was told there will not be any refund of our £1000 despite them having a ‘14 day change of mind policy’ and they did not deem it necessary to even explain why. Suzanne Fitzpatrick (the owner of the venue) who I dealt with via email whilst asking if it was possible for our deposit back was a hard person and really difficult, not even an alternative or half based on the wedding being in a year and a half was even considered. The whole contract had holes in. I spoke with Suzanne for the first time over the phone today. Terribly patronising. Timeline- Paid the deposit 2nd Feb 2023 Sent back the signed event order schedule 20th Feb 2023 Cancelled the 24th having not wanted to send the terms and conditions back signed and based on all noted above she didn’t offer a compromise just said she didn’t have to give it back. I really wasn’t expecting to read all the agreements required this is why I am leaving a review to urge others to read thoroughly. The perfect dayThe perfect day
Where do we start with The Old Vicarage Boutique..it was complete perfection. Before we went to our first meeting, we knew that we wanted this beautiful venue for our wedding, however, we could have never imagined how exceptional it was actually going to be. Before and during the wedding, the organisation of the team and their attention to detail was outstanding. Chelsea spent time going through every little detail with us in our pre wedding meetings, making sure every aspect of the day was covered. The day itself was incredible, the team were so well co-ordinated, and it ran so smoothly. Laura and Helen were always on hand to talk us through what was next and keeping us completely organised throughout. Every aspect was catered for, such as setting up the indoor ceremony area should we have needed to move our outdoor ceremony inside last minute. It is only now looking back, we realise how many jobs were being done in the background to ensure we and all our guests had everything they needed. The choice of food available is fantastic. Each of the options we selected were delicious and perfectly portioned, all our guests loved it too. The wine was superb and the service top notch. The venue itself is incredible with the modern chic décor, it has such a homely warmth about it whilst being so stylish. We loved being able to wake up there the next day too, in the beautiful bridal suite. We can’t thank you all enough for the best day! We are struggling to sum up how perfect our whole journey was with TOV but we’ve tried our best with this. Perfect doesn’t even come close, we dreamt of our perfect day for so long and what we got was a dream come true. Every single detail was faultless, everyone commented on how the service and the day was seamless. This is all thanks to the team and especially Laura. Having gone to school with Laura it felt like we had come full circle having her help plan our wedding, her friendly nature put everyone at ease and she certainly did that with us. Without Laura on the morning of my wedding I would have been a nervous wreck (however I still cried the whole way down the isle) never the less your calming nature and infectious smile helped exactly when I needed it the most. From the initial meeting through to the morning of our wedding, nothing was ever too much. The food, the beautiful venue, the team .. just everything, from the bottom of our hearts thank you! The Old Vicarage will hold a very special place in our heart forever. My son got married yesterday at The Old Vicarage. I’m totally amazed by the experience from start to finish. The day was flawless, the staff were incredible; highly professional yet so friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much. The food and service was exceptional. The venue is by far the best with the decor and attention to deal, outstanding! I would highly recommend this venue to everyone. We wish we were back at TOV, dancing into the evening and eating quite possibly, the best fish & chips we’ve ever tasted! We just wanted to say that we had a fantastic wedding day and are so pleased that we waited to have our day, just as we had planned. All of our guests commented on just how beautiful the venue is (we know, that’s why we chose it and how perfect a setting it is. Laura - for us you are the superstar of TOV, you have been a pleasure to meet with to discuss our plans and on the day you put everyone at ease. You were mentioned to us by a number of guests, saying how lovely you are and just the right kind of person to have around, in what can be quite a stressful and nervous time. Breakfast got a big thumbs up from everyone and we’re sad that we won’t get to stay over again. Beautifully decorated, intimate wedding venue in Notts, who are organised, experienced and very helpful. From start to finish this venue and its staff were truly amazing and went above and beyond for us. Package prices, with options to add on extras. The venue is decorated so well, there was no need to hire an extra supplier for this. We innitally looked around the venue, booked and received a envolpe of their recommended suppliers - we used some of these, who were also amazing and used some who we found on our own. The venue provides for you a planner and a working document, your 'wedding notes' and when you have finished this document, the wedding is planned. As wedding planning is very stressful, the help and organisation of this venue and its staff made everything so much easier for us and meant that we never once doubted the success of our wedding day itself. Our planner Laura was superb - she could not have helped us enough during our meetings with her and she was very friendly, informative and gave her genuine advise. The venue replied to any questions we had in between meetings and before the big day via email immediately, everytime. The wedding day itself was a huge success - the ceremony was lovely, the food was delicious and the reception was great. We and our guests had a fab day and there is no doubt in our mind that this venue had a huge part to play in this as it is so beautiful and the staff there were so helpful and organised. What an amazing venue! We FINALLY managed to get married and had the most perfect day. We can't thank the staff enough. They were fab from start to finish and completely put us at ease. Everyone was so professional and friendly, the food was unbelievable and I honestly couldn't fault any part of our big day. We've had so many compliments about the day and it's all down to these guys! I'd recommend them to anyone and we are so glad we chose to have an Old Vicarage wedding!What an amazing venue! We FINALLY managed to get married and had the most perfect day. We can't thank the staff enough. They were fab from start to finish and completely put us at ease. Everyone was so professional and friendly, the food was unbelievable and I honestly couldn't fault any part of our big day. Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

Our beautiful Vicarage is very fortunate to have so many indoor and outdoor photo opportunities, a few of our favourites are our stunning swing, the lavender walkway, the bandstand and our eight boutique bedrooms.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

We couldn't possibly say!

What’s your favourite canapé?

This is the hardest question yet, we honestly couldn't just choose one canapé!

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

It would have to be, enjoying a relaxing bubble bath in one of our huge freestanding baths after an amazing wedding day. Our couples and their guests always comment on what a treat this is!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

As an intimate family run wedding venue we pride ourselves on personality, professionalism and a passion for interior design. Our couples and wedding guests often comment on how attentive and relaxed our front of house staff are and we firmly believe that our attention to detail is second to none. We have a dedicated, full-time maintenance team to ensure the venue always looks impeccable, and our experienced wedding coordinators are always on hand to ensure to smooth, stress-free running of your special day.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

We bought The Old Vicarage 15 years ago as a derelict building, we lived here without heating or basic amenities whilst we spent 2 years and every penny we had building our dream wedding venue. We're still striving for perfection and reinvest heavily in making sure our interiors have that 'wow' factor. At the start of 2020 we decided to invest over £100k in creating a stunning new Orangery, without any increase in capacity. We're very fortunate to have a fantastic team who share our values of self-improvement and are always prepared to go above and beyond to make your wedding simply perfect from start to finish.
