If you’re dreaming of a charming countryside wedding, The Oaksmere in Suffolk offers a stunning and exclusive setting that blends historic elegance with modern comforts. This Grade II listed manor house sits on 17 acres of beautifully landscaped parkland, perfect for creating unforgettable memories. Located right on the Norfolk-Suffolk border and just 90 minutes from London, it’s an easy and peaceful escape for you and your guests.
Ceremony and Reception Spaces
The Oaksmere is fully licensed for civil ceremonies, giving you flexible options to say “I do.” Whether you want an intimate gathering of up to 60 guests inside the main house or a grander celebration in the elegant marquee, the venue adapts to your vision. If a traditional church ceremony is your preference, St. Mary’s Church is only two minutes away.
After your ceremony, enjoy a relaxed drinks reception on the croquet lawn or inside the spacious marquee. The marquee features a private entrance, a stage for entertainment, and plenty of natural light, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere for your wedding breakfast and evening party. It comfortably hosts up to 280 guests for both seated meals and dancing. Plus, The Oaksmere offers a curated list of trusted suppliers—from acoustic singers to magicians—to help make your day truly special.
Catering and Accommodation
Food lovers will appreciate The Oaksmere’s focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, many sourced from their own Victorian walled garden. The Executive Chef and team craft delicious, personalized menus to suit your wedding breakfast perfectly. An in-house bar within the marquee keeps the celebrations flowing smoothly.
When it’s time to rest, you and your guests can stay in one of 14 boutique bedrooms spread across the Main House and Coach House. The newlyweds enjoy a complimentary wedding suite, thoughtfully designed with luxurious touches for a comfortable and memorable stay. You can also extend the celebration with a farewell brunch the next day, sharing one last special moment with your loved ones.

A small wedding party of 30 with 45 in the evening. This facility was 100% ideal. The small closely located function rooms made it feel so atmospheric & inclusive. Some guests stayed the night before & just about all stayed the night after. The food on all three days was excellent. Staying there was ideal for pre & post wedding socialising. The rooms were of a high standard. Honor, the wedding planner, while being discreet did an excellent job. Always on hand to help, do or find out. For a wedding of this size, I really do not think a better venue & location could be found in this area. While I did not pay for the wedding, what I did pay for, room, meals & drink, the prices were very, very reasonable.My daughter had her wedding at The Oaksmere on the 21st January 2023. There are so many rooms and areas and every angle is a Photo opportunity! From the moment we viewed the Oaksmere, we knew it was the venue for us. The opportunity to use the hotel and exclusive use of three event rooms for the whole weekend was ideal. We used the beautiful Aviary for our ceremony and wedding breakfast, the Gun Room for our drinks reception and the Chefs Pantry for dancing, but the space is really flexible to use how you wish. Each room is full of character. Honor and her team are really flexible and willing to accommodate as much as possible so that your wedding can be everything you want it to be, often going above and beyond and nothing is too much trouble. We certainly felt that we had our own bespoke and personal event, rather than a 'standard' wedding format that some of the larger hotels churn out. Honor was so helpful in the planning of our wedding and had loads of ideas and supplier contacts from her experience in events planning. We planned our wedding in less than 3 months and Honor helped ensure this was a smooth process. There was a wide range of menu and drinks packages to choose from, but again, the Oaksmere were willing to be flexible on this. The food was really good quality. The accommodation rooms in the hotel are beautiful and Patterson Suite was perfect as a bridal suite. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and make the perfect setting for pictures. We had a January wedding, but still make use of grounds for photos. The manager Matt was fantastic, helpful and efficient after we had experienced a rocky start due to change of staff/management. Matt went above and beyond to make our day perfect. He and his team were exceptional in all the planning , setting up for the wedding, serving food and drinks etc. The food was delicious.. All guests stayed overnight and were all happy with their rooms. We can not fault a thing. All in all a very enjoyable weekend with five star service and food. Thank you to the Oaksmere team. Would highly recommend!We held our wedding at The Oaksmere at the end of October. It was a glorious time that everyone thoroughly enjoyed, which was down to the wonderful Manager and staff working tirelessly for our comfort. The food was excellent, and plenty of it. We all stayed overnight, the rooms were so comfortable, clean and all round...Perfect. A thoroughly good time was had by all. My Congratulations to the fantastic Manager, and my grateful thanks..At the end of Oct. I went to the Oaksmere for my Son's Wedding. It was a glorious time that everyone thoroughly enjoyed, which was down to the wonderful Manager and staff working tirelessly for our comfort. The food was excellent, and plenty of it. The Oaksmere is simple fantastic at another degree!We spent a few nights at the Oaksmere with some family and friends while travelling for a wedding. I’ve stayed at my fair share of 5 star hotels. I must say, the staff at the Oaksmere is simple fantastic at another degree! They are genuine family. From the front desk, to Matt! Even the evening keeper, that old chap had tons of stories while I was sipping earl grey in the “gun room” at 3am! The restaurant on-site was also amazing. We had a table of almost 20 people for afternoon tea. It was delicious and again the staff was also phenomenal. The rooms, proper air conditioning,clean, well put together and decorated very well. Each room had its own unique touch. The bathrooms were well equipped with modern fixtures. Hotel interior decor and exterior landscape is magazine level. I don’t care where you’re from, I’d you somehow land in this review, it’s your sign to just book what ever you need to book, just go! Oaksmere staff! Thank you! They upgraded us to a suite which had a jacuzzi bath in the room and a lovely walk in shower. The restaurant is lovely and the food was excellent value for money and well presented. Nothing was too much trouble. I sent endless emails because I was having flowers delivered and needed advice about Taxi’s, tables booked for dinners and I had also requested a bottle of Prosecco for our arrival. On our wedding day we returned to our room to find confetti and petals all over our bed and some Prosecco and strawberries in the fridge. All of the staff were amazing!! The property is gorgeous and set in the most beautiful surroundings. I will definitely be visiting again and they helped me have the most wonderful wedding dayMy Husband to be and I stayed at the Oaksmere the night before our wedding and the night of our wedding.
