Cannot speak highly enough of the facilities and staff at Retreat East! Highly recommend visiting for rest and relaxation, and really enjoyed taking the bikes out for a ride to a local farm shop. The food is incredible, the sea bream was one of the nicest meals I've had in Suffolk. Probably the best U.K. escape I’ve had and just what I needed. We stayed in the Nest and everything was just sublime. The mattress was the comfiest I’ve slept on and the outdoor bath was lush. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
The most enchanting wedding at Retreat East in Suffolk took place on a warm, sunny day in late spring. The picturesque venue provided an idyllic backdrop for the celebration, nestled amidst rolling hills and lush greenery. As guests arrived, they were greeted with the melodious sounds of a harp. The ceremony was held in The Farmhouse garden, which was dressed with stunning florals in an all-white colour scheme. The evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and a sumptuous feast that showcased the finest local ingredients. The Great Barn echoed the crisp white colour theme of the day. As the night came to a close, the couple departed through a tunnel of sparklers held by their guests, symbolising the beginning of their new journey together.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Enjoy the process! It should feel exciting, not stressful. We take care of as many of the little details as possible so you can focus on the fun parts, and we include a tasting evening and overnight stay ahead of your wedding to help build the excitement. For us, it’s all about making sure you enjoy the entire experience, not just the day itself.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
The best personal touch we have seen at Retreat East is a live wedding illustrator. They painted the ceremony live as a framed artwork that the couple could take away and treasure forever. The painter then stayed for the evening celebration to paint live portraits of the guests - a unique moment for them to remember the fun of celebrating the bride and grooms day.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
It’s hard to choose, but our wildflower meadow is always a favourite for its soft, romantic feel, especially in golden hour light. The rustic barn exteriors also create a beautiful backdrop, and our wooden bridge offers something a little more intimate and atmospheric. Each spot captures a different side of Retreat East.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We’ve been lucky enough to host a number of high-profile guests and celebrations over the years, however we always respect the privacy of our couples and guests, so we keep those details confidential. Retreat East is a place where everyone can truly relax and feel at home, away from the spotlight.
What’s your favourite canapé?
Our goat’s cheese and beetroot tarts. They're a perfect balance of earthy, creamy and just the right touch of sweetness, and always a favourite with guests.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
It has to be our wood-fired pizzas or toasted marshmallows around the outdoor firepit, the perfect late-night treat to keep the celebrations going.

What part of your business are you most proud of?
What we’re most proud of is the experience we create for our couples and their guests. From the moment you arrive, it feels relaxed, personal and completely your own, with every detail thoughtfully considered. Seeing families and friends come together, stay on-site and truly make a weekend of it is incredibly special, it’s more than just a wedding day, it’s a shared experience, and being part of that is something we’re really proud of.
