Whether you’re looking for an exclusive event or a smaller more intimate occasion, Retreat East is all about creating bespoke experiences for your special day.
Just 90 minutes from London, 60 minutes from Cambridge and 30 minutes from Colchester, Retreat East is the perfect sanctuary for those precious moments.
Our collection comprises a range of outstanding, characterful barns and a 16th century farmhouse, all of which have been designed with a sustainable rural chic vibe.
The Farmhouse is fully licensed for civil ceremonies. This beautiful property is an original feature of the dairy farm and is packed full of history & character. Nestled in its own private walled garden, it is the perfect setting for a truly English ceremony. Spend your morning getting ready in The Farmhouse whilst your guests gather in the beautiful private walled garden. Make your way down the herringbone brick path, to the altar as your guests eagerly await. After the celebrations, the happy couple can retreat to The Farmhouse for a blissful night’s sleep or select one of our other barns for your first night as a married couple.
We’ve created a ‘home from home’ experience at Retreat East. With space for you and all your guests, you’ll have all the luxuries of a 5-star resort, with lots of home comforts along the way. With a selection of luxury barns, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
We aim to create a unique day for each and every one of our couples. Our desire is to support your vision and will work with you to make a seamless, enjoyable and stress-free process. Our Events Manager will be on hand to help you with the planning and creativity of your special day at each stage of the journey.

Cannot speak highly enough of the facilities and staff at Retreat East! Highly recommend visiting for rest and relaxation, and really enjoyed taking the bikes out for a ride to a local farm shop. The food is incredible, the sea bream was one of the nicest meals I've had in Suffolk. Was also lovely to meet Dominic and the team.A little late reviewing, but did a mini-moon with my wife following our wedding in June 2024. Probably the best U.K. escape I’ve had and just what I needed. We stayed in the Nest and everything was just sublime. The mattress was the comfiest I’ve slept on and the outdoor bath was lush. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
The most enchanting wedding at Retreat East in Suffolk took place on a warm, sunny day in late spring. The picturesque venue provided an idyllic backdrop for the celebration, nestled amidst rolling hills and lush greenery.
As guests arrived, they were greeted with the melodious sounds of a harp. The ceremony was held in The Farmhouse garden, which was dressed with stunning florals in an all-white colour scheme.
The evening was filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and a sumptuous feast that showcased the finest local ingredients. The Great Barn echoed the crisp white colour theme of the day.
As the night came to a close, the couple departed through a tunnel of sparklers held by their guests, symbolizing the beginning of their new journey together.

Delegate Tasks: Divide the planning tasks based on your strengths and interests. If one of you enjoys researching vendors while the other is more into design, delegate tasks accordingly to ensure a balanced workload.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
The best personal touch we have seen at Retreat East is a live wedding illustrator. They painted the ceremony live as a framed artwork that the couple could take away and treasure forever. The painter then stayed for the evening celebration to paint live portraits of the guests - a unique moment for them to remember the fun of celebrating the bride and grooms day.
