So many people said it’s the best venue they have been too. It actually feels personal and not like so many of the conveyor belt weddings I’ve been too before! Everything from the guest house, the ceremony barn to the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. We arranged the decor, food, music etc exactly how we wanted and it all fit together better than I could have hoped. It really does feel special at The Mill, I cannot recommend enough.We still get compliments on how beautiful our wedding venue at The Mill was. From the moment we arrived at the Mill at Hoveringham we were treated with the utmost kindness and professionalism. Sally and her team could not have done any more to make us feel completely at home, in fact the care we received felt as though we were part of the family , not customers ! All the buildings have either been refurbished or new built to a very high standard. The attention to detail was excellent . Having the large house for our stay completely made the difference for us. Hot tub and a few drinks the night before the wedding, what could you want more than that. The wedding day itself , perfect, the ceremony was just how we planned it, no fuss and in a rustic environment which just could not have been better. Being able to have caterers of our choice prepare the meal was an added bonus. The night went as good as the day, we had live music, the caterers stayed on and provided food for the evening as well. All in all if you want a no fuss wedding in a very nice scenic location look no further than the Mill at Hoveringham What a 3 day experience, what a venue. All of our guests commented how beautiful the venue and barns are and it was so lovely to have the freedom to decorate it how we wanted, as well as use vendors of our choice. The farm house that we stayed in was gorgeous, the beds were super comfy and it has all the amenities that you could think of. What is dry-hire?
A dry‑hire wedding venue gives you the space to host your celebration but leaves the rest entirely in your hands. Instead of fixed packages, you get a true blank canvas - perfect for couples who want full creative freedom. Dry hire simply means the venue provides the setting, while you choose your own caterers, décor, entertainment, and suppliers.

Everything we provide is included in our price, there are no hidden extras or upselling as we operate a dry hire venue.
The onsite bar is provided by a partnering business and we will provide you with their details to coordinate your drinks requirements directly with them.
Is your venue pet friendly?
Yes - we’re very happy to welcome pets as part of your celebration. Couples have previously included dogs, horses and other much‑loved companions in their day, and we’re always glad to help make that possible. If you’re planning to bring animals, just let us know in advance so we can make sure everything is set up comfortably and safely for them.
Can we choose our own caterers, or do you have a preferred supplier list?
You’re very welcome to choose your own caterers. We don’t require you to use a preferred supplier list, so you have complete flexibility to bring in the team that best suits your style, menu and budget. If you’d like recommendations, we’re always happy to share details of caterers who know the venue well, but the choice is entirely yours.
Can we set up the day before and collect items the next morning?
Yes - you’ll have access to the venue from 12:00 noon the day before your wedding until 12:00 noon the day after. This gives you plenty of time for setting up, styling the space and collecting everything afterwards without any rush.
What is the wet‑weather plan for outdoor ceremonies?
If the weather turns wet, we have a lovely undercover outdoor area that can be used on the day, ensuring your ceremony can still take place comfortably outside. In dry weather, the lawned areas in front of the barn provide the most stunning setting for an outdoor wedding.
Can we visit the venue again before the wedding to plan our layout and meet suppliers?
Yes - you’re very welcome to come back to the venue in the lead‑up to your wedding. We’re happy to arrange pre‑wedding visits so you can walk through the space, plan your décor, take measurements and meet with your suppliers. Just let us know when you’d like to come, and we’ll make sure the barn is available for you to explore and prepare at your own pace.
