The garden gazebo is licensed for Civil Ceremonies and boasts an idyllic backdrop of the lake. When darkness falls, the gazebo is illuminated, providing the perfect opportunity to capture magical photos. The Glenridding Suite, with spectacular views sweeping across the landscaped grounds to the lakeshore and surrounding fells, is beautifully designed and available for indoor ceremonies.
Inn on the Lake is renowned for delicious cuisine specially prepared by our brilliant chefs. With innovative and exciting seasonal menus taking advantage of the finest local ingredients, your guests will experience a memorable dining experience on your special day.
We have a range of rooms to be used throughout your day:
The Lake View Restaurant: Offering dramatic views of Lake Ullswater and the surrounding mountains, this bright and spacious room accommodates up to 100 guests.
Candleroom and Ramblers: Be enamored with an elegant glass front, exposed oak beams, a Cumbrian slate feature wall and dramatic church candle lights hanging from the rafters in the Candleroom. Ramblers also has its own bar, making it an ideal place to spend your evening celebrations. Whether your preference of entertainment is an exciting disco or upbeat live music is more your thing, this is the ideal place to host your night-time function.
The unique location is any photographer’s dream with three protruding jetties from our private lakeshore, resulting in beautiful photos that ensure you will have memories to look back on. These views are visible from our newly refurbished Lake View lounges and Restaurant as well as our magnificent new outdoor Terrace.
Our dedicated weddings team are thought of as part of the furniture at Inn on the Lake. With experience that far exceeds most, they are truly invested in guaranteeing a unique day with memories to treasure. When you reserve your wedding with us, you can rest assured that you are in safe hands.

A big thank you to the whole wedding team especially Jonathan, Kerri and Teresa for planning and executing the day perfectly, it exceeded our expectations. Jonathan (wedding coordinator) made our day run so smoothly from attaching the men’s button holes to setting up our decorations, which looked so professional. Our guests loved the hotel and were impressed with the wedding food and drinks. The weather was so sunny on our day, so we got married outside. If you can I would highly recommend it! The venue and its lands are stunning, creating lots of photo opportunities. The new patio area looking on to the lake was great place for guest to relax and chat. The bridal room was gorgeous and very spacious, perfect for the girls getting ready with hair and make up. Thank you again for creating the best wedding day! What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
There are many tips our experienced wedding team can offer you, but their no.1 tip is to remember that your special day is about the two of you! Other people’s opinions can be overwhelming, so it is important that you prioritise your own and enjoy the planning process…we promise it is definitely worth it in the end!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Personalised handmade favours always stand out to me and give your day that special, individual touch.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
It's so hard to choose just one because there are lots of beautiful photo opportunities across our landscaped grounds, however we find that our 3 private jetties that extend onto Ullswater lake attract most couples. Another personal favourite photo spot of ours is next to the reflection pool. You get the lake and mountains behind, but get a reflection of the couple in the pool - it's really quite magic and unique to our venue.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We absolutely have! The Inn on the Lake has accommodated the likes of famous Hollywood actors, Grammy award-winning singers, Olympic athletes and sports stars.
What’s your favourite canapé?
All of our canapes are incredible, however if I had to pick a favourite it our Cumbrian Chipolatas cooked in wholegrain mustard & honey really do highlight how delicious our local cuisine is!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Without a doubt a it has to be a sweetie buffet for adults. There's nothing better than having a little bag of sweets to take home.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The venue’s most unique feature is our brand-new outdoor Terrace. It is a great place for guests to relax with a glass of bubbly, catching up with beautiful lake views whilst you and your partner escape with your photographer. The views simply from this stunning suntrap can’t be matched as you look over the sweeping lawns down to Ullswater and its surrounding fells.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
We are most proud of our incredible wedding team and staff who go above and beyond to provide you with an intimate and personable service. It's not only the stunning location that will make your day memorable, but all our friendly team members will provide a service to be remembered also.
