H&H is a charming gastro pub in the heart of Islington, offering a beautiful, intimate setting for wedding receptions and celebrations. With its warm interiors, relaxed elegance, and friendly team, H&H is the perfect place to toast your love story.
We welcome both small and large gatherings — from cosy dinners for six to full-venue parties for up to 250 guests. Our formal dining spaces can host up to 50 in one room, or 70 across two, and we have four distinct areas available for private hire. For an unforgettable celebration, couples can also take over the entire venue. We’re open until 2am on weekends (but we can stay open ‘til 4am if you’d like to keep the party going).
Our offering includes seasonal dining menus, delicious canapés, bar snacks, signature cocktails (or timeless classics), and an extensive, thoughtfully curated wine list. We’re also delighted to create bespoke menus tailored to your tastes. With a beautiful piano, DJ kit, and mics on-site, we’re ready for everything from candlelit singalongs to full-on dance floor magic.

The venue contact was really lovely and helpful and everything went smoothly. The venue setting and the table layout was beautiful, the service immaculate and the food was exceptional. Our guests were all very impressed. As a small group, we had exclusive use of one of the rooms. There are bigger spaces to accommodate more people. Everything was arranged: canapés ordered, cocktails chosen, room layout agreed. 5 days before the event, the venue cancelled my booking as they have a double booking - they had somehow messed up the dates at their end. The event clashed with a wedding & they had got the date of the wedding wrong. No notice given, no alternative solution offered. This happened on a bank holiday weekend when most venues are closed giving me 4 days to find an alternative venue for a party for 70 people. I was horribly let down & they ruined what shid be a fun celebration. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU BOOK AN EVENT WITH THIS UNRELIABLE VENUE.Many months ago, I booked the upstairs loft at this venue for my 50th birthday celebrations. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
One of our favourite weddings at H&H was a stunning summer celebration where the sunshine streamed through our bay window and the French doors in the cocktail bar, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The couple hired the full venue, allowing their guests to explore the unique character of each room. With over 100 people in attendance, it was a perfect blend of elegance and relaxed charm. The vibe of the townhouse, with its many corners to discover, made for an unforgettable day that was as beautiful as it was personal.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Stay organised and tackle one thing at a time. Create a timeline for the day, from arrival times to the first dance, so everyone knows what to expect. Don’t forget to factor in some buffer time for unexpected delays — and make sure you’ve got a trusted point person (whether it’s a wedding planner or a reliable friend) to handle any last-minute issues. That way, you can focus on enjoying the day!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
One of our favourite personal touches was when a couple honoured their grandparents by incorporating family heirlooms into their decor. They had a vintage photo of their grandparents as the centrepiece on each table, and during the speeches, they shared stories of how their love had inspired them. It was a beautiful, emotional moment that made everyone feel even more connected to the couple’s love story, and it really made the day feel intimate and meaningful.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
The best photo spot at H&H has to be our cocktail bar. With its elegant design, soft lighting, and stunning backdrop of carefully curated bottles, it’s the perfect place for candid shots, romantic portraits, or even a cheeky celebratory toast. It’s where the magic happens, and it always makes for the most Instagram-worthy moments!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
While we can’t name names (we value discretion around here!), we’ve definitely had a few high-profile guests join us for their celebrations. At H&H, we pride ourselves on making every couple feel like royalty — no matter who’s at the table. Our focus is always on creating unforgettable, personal experiences for our guests!
What’s your favourite canapé?
Our favourite canapé has to be the roast beef in Yorkshire pudding — it’s a true celebration of the best of British flavours. The tender beef, paired with the rich, savoury pudding and a touch of horseradish, is always a crowd-pleaser and the perfect bite to start the evening. It’s a little taste of comfort and tradition, and it never fails to impress!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Our favourite midnight treat has to be our cheese toasties with homemade chilli jam. It’s the perfect combination of crispy, gooey, and just the right amount of spice to keep the party going. It’s a beloved favourite that always hits the spot after a few hours of dancing — comforting, delicious, and a little bit naughty!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our most unique feature is definitely our beautiful bay window on the facade of the building. Not only does it offer stunning views of the street, but it’s also a listed feature, adding a touch of historic charm to the venue. It’s the perfect spot for photos, and the natural light that floods in during the day makes for a truly magical atmosphere. It’s a special detail that sets H&H apart and adds character to every event.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of the atmosphere we’ve created at H&H. It’s a place where every couple can feel truly at home — relaxed, welcoming, and filled with warmth. From the carefully crafted seasonal menus to the personalised touches we add to each event, we’re all about creating meaningful experiences that feel special and unique. It’s a real joy to be part of such memorable moments with our couples and their loved ones.
