It is all about the little touches here with us at The Castle Hotel! From the moment you enter through our iconic revolving doors, to the second you depart, you will feel the sense of romanticism that lingers throughout this historic building.
We understand that getting married and planning your most romantic day may be daunting, but we are here to ensure that it is perfect, runs smoothly, and allows you to relax, as well as have fun.
The family-owned castle is an elegant and unique town centre venue, offering 5 beautiful function rooms, all licensed for ceremonies to say your special ‘I do’s’!
We also love food here at The Castle, and we have an enviable reputation for culinary excellence! Our award-winning kitchen team source and use only the finest local ingredients, so, rest assured - your wedding breakfast will be prepared to the highest standard.
Finally, The Castle has 44 comfortable bedrooms, including a stunning, newly renovated bridal suite. All our bedrooms have that special "Castle" charm, ensuring that you and your guests have a wonderful night sleep after the excitement of your wedding day.

Lovely peaceful garden with wild and manicured areas amongst old stone wall ruins with lots of sheltered seating options. Dog friendly - water bowl and mat in room. Hotel tastefully furnished throughout. Comfortable welcoming lounge areas. Friendly and helpful staff. Thoroughly recommend the Blackdown Suite. Fabulous! Huge spacious room. Dressing area. Large well fitted bathroom. Bathrobes provided. Sumptuous furnishings. Massive very comfortable bed. Large windows and garden views. Thank You to all of the staff who looked after us so well. It couldn’t have been better. The meal was outstanding, the table was sophisticated and beautiful. The waiter looked after every little detail with so much care. It makes me realise how much better it is to go to a family owned hotel.Thank you so much for your beautiful hotel and it’s ambience. Adam on the bar was very knowledgeable and friendly, skilled at cocktails and an excellent gin and tonic, David in the restaurant couldn't do enough for us, very attentive and professional. Fantastic food aswell. Lovely reception staff, a very warm welcome and a safe journey home.Excellent room, very clean, comfortable bed and large bathroom. Adam on the bar was very knowledgeable and friendly, skilled at cocktails and an excellent gin and tonic, David in the restaurant couldn't do enough for us, very attentive and professional. Fantastic food aswell. Lovely reception staff, a very warm welcome and a safe journey home.

Gloriously well adapted building with comfortable rooms and a breakfast area combined with an outward facing wine bar. It's not cheap but it is reasonable value with on site parking (charged at £10) with the whole town on your doorstep. Really enjoyed my stay and would definitely go back... What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Remember that the wedding is all about you and what you want – try not to worry about what everyone else might think or want! Also, enjoy every second of the day as it does go quickly!
Most importantly, don’t be overwhelmed, focus on one element at a time and you’ll be ticking things off the ‘to do’ list in no time!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
One of our beautiful couples had personalised Lego figurines made to go on top of their wedding cake.

Historic, affordable, elegant, unique, timeless.
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Well, any wedding picture is great, especially when it includes confetti but At the back of our Norman Gardens we have a beautiful hidden place, perfect for the couples photos. I don’t want to spoil the secret so myself and the team would love to show you the spot for ourselves.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Well, that would be telling!
What’s your favourite canapé?
Somerset Beef Carpaccio with red pepper & horseradish… it's super fresh and tasty.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
The Castle Seasonal Eton Mess is gorgeous. However, personally mine would be champagne!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The Wisteria facade, it's more than 150 years old!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the team, especially our attention to detail.
