Our historic and atmospheric building, and our perfect location in the heart of the award-winning market town of Tavistock, create a memorable backdrop. You’re welcome to enjoy our romantic walled gardens, and maybe take a stroll down to the riverbank for some captivating photos. We are licensed for your civil ceremony, or alternatively the parish church of St Eustachius is directly across the road from The Bedford. The Catholic parish church of Tavistock is less than a mile away. We have 31 individually designed rooms, including sumptuous four-posters (and the Bridal Suite is yours with our compliments when you book a full wedding package). For something extra special, we can even arrange exclusive use for you and your guests.

- SSam and Sami30/11/2025Perfect wedding!Perfect wedding!As soon as we saw The Bedford Hotel, we knew this was where we wanted to get married and booked it instantly. From the first viewing, to the day itself, everything was handled with professionalism and attentiveness by our wedding organiser, Hannah. We had regular contact and scheduled meetings so planning was kept up to date on both sides. We had a lot of friends and family staying in and near the hotel the night before so the staff were kind enough to give us use of one of their function rooms where we could all sit and eat together. On the day, the staff were amazing and the day ran smoothly from start to finish. They went above and beyond to cater to ours, and our guests needs - which included a family member in a large motorised wheelchair. The 3 course wedding breakfast was amazing and we had lots of compliments about how delicious every meal was. And the quality of the evening buffet was just as beautiful and delicious as the main meal itself. Thank you to The Bedford Hotel and all it's staff, you made our dream into a reality. Nothing was too much to ask, they went above and beyond offered to support us in ways we could not even imagine needing. For example holding a brolly and walking with us to the church and waiting outside at the end of the ceremony to keep us dry on the way back. The food was hot and phenomenal and exactly like our wedding tasting, very impressive on such big scale. We had so many compliments about the food from our guests and it even had a mention in the guest book as the best wedding food they had ever had. The evening West Country boards were so impressive not only because they took 4 people to carry but show casing local produce which was great for family and friends who had traveled from afar. Kay’s communication from our first enquiry throughout the planning process and on the day its self was so prompt which was hugely helpful and appreciated she helped our wedding dreams come to reality. We will be forever thankful to the Bedford for making our wedding day so special it really felt like a home from home during our wedding celebrations.The Bedford was the perfect wedding venue. From start to finish the staff at the Bedford were absolutely amazing and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was exceptional (we had an afternoon high tea rather than a sit down meal), and there was plenty of it, as was the evening buffet. We have spent many an afternoon there sampling their cream teas and having delicious lunches, this all helped to make us feel at home there on our day. We had regular meetings with them and they always responded quickly to any requests or query’s. Hannah went above and beyond to make our day magical.
