Firstly I want to say thank you to all at Sandycove who made our day so special! From planning, to every minute of our stay we were treated exceptionally and nothing was too much trouble. I can honestly say that EVERY member of staff we encountered were professional, friendly and helpful. The wedding planners prior and on the day, the receptionist, chef, waitress and night porter who ensured all of our needs were met, even at 5 in the morning! Our wedding was everything I dreamed of! We had an elopement and I have had so many comments of how stunnoing our venue looked, most people thought we had been abroad. The food was 5* and the venue was beutiful, clean and welcoming. I cant thank you all enough. They say your wedding day should be the happiest day of your life, and for us it truly was, thanks to Sandycove and all the staff. Elopement Wedding by the SeaElopement Wedding by the Sea
Looking for an elopement wedding with your children can be challenging. When we seen Sandy Cove and the view of the coast of Ilfracombe we knew it was perfect. The packages available are very reasonable especially to get the full venue for the day. It was great to spend time as a family and enjoy it. This was supported by a wedding co-ordinator who was great and support from the events team from the initial booking helped this wedding to be unique to ourselves. They offered advice and knew their stuff about what could be achieved. The team at Sandy cove all produced excellent customer service and were there to ensure our day went perfect! We loved Sandy cove for our wedding weekend everything was perfect. Staff and food were first class and the wedding venue scenery is spectacular. Where do I start. We knew Sandy Cove Hotel was the one the second we got out the car when we arrived to view the venue. Fast forward to our wedding day of May this year. We arrived with 20 guests the night before. The service was 10/10 the moment we stepped into the hotel. Myself and my now husband couldn’t fault a thing. Nothing was ever too much. We all had a meal the night before the wedding. We had our own private room and had anything we needed for the entire evening. It was the perfect way to relax the night before the big day! Then the wedding day. Sammie was amazing, she made the day run so smoothly. She took care of everything, I didn’t have to worry about a thing. From setting up tables to sorting out the decor, she did it all. The day ran so smoothly, we were all looked after so well. The food was also insane! So to round things up. If you’re thinking of getting married at Sandy Cove Hotel, do it. You won’t regret it! Where do I start. We thoroughly enjoyed our wedding day, the venue is stunning and we got lovely weather which was a touch. The hotel rooms were lovely and our pre wedding dinner in the hotel restaurant was lovely. We got many compliments on our choice of venue. We had a few little hiccups, which is more just constructive criticism, I think you shouldn’t be rushed out of the get ready room at 1pm, a lot of our stuff got thrown in boxes and a few bits got lost due to this but wasn’t the end of the world we organised it eventually. There was some mis communication between the venue and main hotel which caused a delay in some flowers being bought down from the room and our vegan lemon cake got forgotten about that was in the hotel fridge, so we cut and bought out late. The 2nd glasses of wine at our sit down was nearly forgotten about it was only because my husband realised that we mentioned about it and it was checked and bought round. We paid for an evening bbq which we missed due to photos I wouldn’t have minded a few bits being put aside for us. Other than a few minor things, the wedding was perfect, the staff were beyond amazing nothing was too much trouble, the venue is stunning and I’d getting married here again in a heart beat if I could afford a second wedding. The food was also lovely. They were also dog friendly so our 2 fur babies could enjoy our wedding. We recently eloped at Sandy Cove, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding experience! We tied the knot on 11th June and from start to finish, both my husband and I had the most incredible time. Every single member of staff was amazing – so genuinely helpful, friendly, and kind. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. A special, heartfelt shout-out must go to our wonderful wedding coordinator, Sammie, who was just brilliant. She looked after us all day and made everything ran smoothly. Our room was unreal, but the view... wow. It was breathtaking. Photos honestly don't do it justice and you have to see it to fully appreciate it. By the end of our stay, we genuinely didn't want to leave! Sandy Cove provided the perfect backdrop for our elopement, and we'll cherish the memories forever. Honestly the most amazing place! From the rooms, to the view, the food, the staff; everything was perfect! Can highly recommend the bbq food it was amazing. The whole experience—from planning to the wedding day to the morning after—was flawless. The venue is stunning, the team is phenomenal, and our day was smooth, joyful, and full of unforgettable moments thanks to the incredible people behind the scenes. From our very first interaction, Dawn was warm, professional, and made us feel instantly at ease. She was one of the key reasons we chose Sandy Cove. Throughout the planning process, Sharna and Debs were nothing short of amazing. Every single question as answered with kindness and clarity. Any bumps in the road were sorted quickly and without fuss. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and their communication and support genuinely made wedding planning feel easy and stress-free. On the day itself, Sammie, our day coordinator, was a total superstar. She ensured that both my husband and I were looked after from start to finish—kept us fed, watered, calm, and focused. She supported our photographer, kept our guests organised, helped with anything they needed, and handled everything behind the scenes so we could just enjoy our day, she was always one step ahead. Our favourite personal touch: One bride surprised her new husband by performing a song she had specially written for him after the wedding meal. It was such a heartfelt and intimate moment, full of emotion, laughter, and love, a memory that everyone present will never forget.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

There are so many beautiful spots it’s hard to choose! One of our favourites is the glass-wrapped skywalk platform, offering breathtaking sea views that couples often say feel just like being abroad. Another magical location is our private beach, accessed via charming woodland steps, perfect for romantic, unforgettable photos.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

We’ve been fortunate to welcome a number of celebrity guests and weddings at our venue over the years, making each celebration truly memorable.

What’s your favourite canapé?

It’s really hard to pick just one with 17 delicious options to choose from! Our most popular canapés are the Mini Yorkshire Pudding with Beef and Onion Gravy, and the Duck Breast with Spring Onion and Plum Sauce - both always go down a treat with guests.

What’s your favourite evening treat?

Our favourite evening treat has to be our Devon scones, served with clotted cream and jam - a classic, indulgent delight that never fails to please guests.

What is your venue's most unique feature?

Our venue’s most unique feature is the dramatic glass frontage with bifold doors that open onto a decked area, offering some of the most stunning sea views in the country. From here, you can also enjoy views of the illuminated skywalk platform at night, while our private beach, accessed via enchanting woodland steps, provides a magical backdrop during the day.
