We live relatively locally to Oswestry and wanted a venue for our intimate wedding where we could feel totally relaxed and special. This WAS the place! The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings, picturesque and has a Downton' feel to it. However, what makes this venue so very special is the team who work there, their dedication to the needs and happiness of their guests and the quality of service they deliver. A family run hotel and restaurant where guests truly feel welcome and cherished.. Our day was truly the day we had dreamt of and our sincere thanks go to this wonderful family and their team for making it absolutely perfect for us. Our every need was catered for and we received a truly personal service. We simply cannot recommend The Sweeney highly enough. If you are looking for somewhere for a very special occasion, this is most certainly a place to be on your very short list.. It was my wife's 40th birthday today and she wanted to go back as it was a special occasion! We've visited the Sweeney numerous times since our wedding and it's always been fantastic! Tonight was no exception Sean and his team as always were great, the food was brilliant, some of us chose the early bird menu option which had plenty of choice and some in the group opted for the normal menu all of our food was superb! We had a small problem with a cake we took as part of the celebration the night before, nothing to do with the Sweeney I might add! The chef saw too it the problem was solved with an amazing cake of his own at a nights notice was made! I can't recommend the Sweeney enough, great setting, great food, great staff! Our wedding at the Barn at the sweeney could not have gone better- it was exactly what we wanted for our special day. The food was brilliant - both for the wedding breakfast and the pizzas served in the evening went down really well. We had an outdoor bar serving drinks to our guests throughout the day. The staff were polite and considerate at all times. The barn and the garden room both looked fantastic and we had loads of lovely comments from our friends and family commenting on the gorgeous venue. We were allowed to put our own special touches in the wedding through the decor we chose which took a while to set up the day before with support from staff at the sweeney. The staff were very accommodating when helping us to set up the two rooms prior to the big day. Thank you for this! We loved that we were allowed to have the doors to the barn open in the evening - which allowed us to spill out into the garden around the fire pits- even on a mild April day this worked well. We would highly recommend the sweeney to other couples wanting to get married in the Oswestry area.
