An enchanting country estate and family residence, Davenport House is exclusively yours on your special day. Set amidst picturesque Shropshire countryside, this idyllic Georgian house was extensively refurbished in 2017. Now you can step inside this magical venue and make yourself at home, celebrating your wedding day surrounded by its history, warmth and elegance.
Entering this great house through the magnificent double doors, you might choose to say ‘I do’ in The Great Hall. Brimming with character, this is the very heart of the home and the perfect place in which to say your vows. Alternatively, marry in another of the great rooms, or between the pillars on the front steps of Davenport House for a truly unique setting.
The Great Hall leads through to the beautiful Saloon with its marquetry floor. It is here that you might enjoy welcome drinks and canapés along with breathtaking views over the lawns beyond. Outside, the terrace, lily pond and secluded secret garden provide a sublime setting in which to mingle with a glass of fizz on warmer days.
The Drawing Room lures your guests in to dine, with original panelling painted in elegant ‘tea green’. The specialist on-site wedding event planners and expert caterers will work closely with you to help create the most spectacular day, complete with stunning wedding food and drink. As day turns to evening, The Great Hall becomes your dance floor, while guests might also choose to relax in The Saloon or The Drawing Room.
Six luxurious en-suite bedrooms, a further 3 double bedrooms including a plush honeymoon suite and impressive breakfast area, are located in the main house, while four cottages in the grounds offer self-catering accommodation. A further cottage, The Stable, is offered as your bridal preparation area. From intimate to lavish, and from contemporary style to the more traditional, Davenport House is your country estate that can make your dream wedding a reality.

I honestly don't think we've ever had better service for anything. We had a wedding planner from the start (Megan), who was an absolute saint and was fundamental in making the whole wedding a success. She was also instrumental in helping us find a way for our 'little' dog Bernie to be a part of the main event. The attention to detail was very impressive, food was absolutely delicious, the chef helped us build our own menu for no extra cost, the house and bedrooms are so beautiful too. The staff also did a lot of the decoration for us which took the pressure off as we didn't have a florist.Held our wedding at Davenport House in June, such a wonderful day, the staff were incredible from the point of first visit all the way to waving us off the morning after. The attention to detail was very impressive, food was absolutely delicious, the chef helped us build our own menu for no extra cost, the house and bedrooms are so beautiful too. The staff also did a lot of the decoration for us which took the pressure off as we didn't have a florist.

If you are thinking of this wedding venue any of the wedding planners are amazing but I would like to give a special shout out to Charley (ask for Charley she is a dream to work with). I imagine I was probably one of their most craziest of brides and definitely kept everyone on their toes. Well I don’t even know where to start. What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Ask as many questions as you need. Feeling comfortable on the day is one of the most important, and often most overlooked, parts of your day. So don't be afraid to ask questions! If you're worried about anything then we are here to help and we would much rather ease any concerns you have than have you stressed on the day!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
It is always lovely to see couples paying tribute to their parent's weddings. For example, a part of the mother of the bride's dress reused, or the jewellery. I had a groom who wore his father cufflinks and it really spurred quite an emotional reaction, it's such a small gesture but so meaningful!

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Truly, every part of Davenport House is instagram gold, however I think the staircase is pretty iconic!

We have and it was so exciting! Sadly, we can't say who...

What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our hidden pavilion, located in the tress of the gardens. This area is easily missed unless you are looking for it, featuring our wood fire pizza oven and swing BBQ perfect location for evening street food. This cosy area has tables and chairs to enjoy evening eats and cosy blankets if there is a chill in the evening air.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
The relationships we have with our couples. We love that our couples come back to visit us, we even have a secret rose garden where we plant a rose on each couples 1st anniversary, it means you always have a reason to come and visit us and we love it!
