Sutton Bonington Hall is a Grade II* Queen Anne period country property and wedding venue situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Sutton Bonington, close to the borders of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
This enchanting family home is available on an exclusive use basis for a select number of days each year for weddings and private events. Beautifully relaxed with stunning gardens, offering a bespoke and unique experience and not a commercial environment.
Our beautiful home is a unique and romantic period house surrounded by the most exquisitely landscaped gardens -providing you with a wedding venue and experience that is as perfect as your love story.
Nestled within the embrace of meticulously manicured formal gardens, Sutton Bonington Hall provides an idyllic backdrop for you to exchange your vows surrounded by your family and friends.
Licenced to host civil ceremonies within the grandeur of the house or amidst the enchanting blooms of the gardens, our experienced team is dedicated to ensuring that your ceremony is curated to perfection and will be a seamless blend of sophistication and warmth leaving you and your guests with unforgettable memories.
We also have two beautiful stone ancient parish churches, St Michael’s and St Anne’s within Sutton Bonington and both are in close walking proximity to the Hall.

This beautiful house offered us everything we were looking for in a venue. It is grand and elegant but also cosy and homely. The hall and gardens are absolutely stunning and provided the perfect backdrop for our day and also our photos. Claire is so accommodating and helpful and made us feel very welcome throughout the planning stages. The food and event management provided by Portfolio events was exceptional and nothing was too much of a problem to make our day perfect. It was lovely to be able to go in the day before to add our own decorations and little touches too. Not many places offer this, so it was a lovely luxury. The fact that they only host a few weddings a year and they provide exclusive use on your day makes it feel extra special too. As soon as we saw the place, we couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. I’m so glad we did and cannot recommend it highly enough.We just had the most incredible wedding day at Sutton Bonington Hall. What makes this venue special is you can really make it your own, the grounds are stunning and Portfolio Events was an excellent coordinator of the day. We hoped for a party and that’s exactly what we got! No corkage was a huge plus for us and Portfolio were great at ensuring everyone always had a drink in hand. After booking, we were put in touch with the incredible Portfolio Team who were able to answer any questions and queries in the run up to the day. On the day of the wedding the Portfolio team were amazingly attentive and looked after all of the guests. We felt privileged to get married in such a beautiful location and can’t recommend the venue and the Portfolio team highly enough.Sutton Bonington Hall provided us with the most special wedding day that we could have wished for. After booking, we were put in touch with the incredible Portfolio Team who were able to answer any questions and queries in the run up to the day. On the day of the wedding the Portfolio team were amazingly attentive and looked after all of the guests. It is grand but not imposing, elegant without being stuffy, with the most beautiful private grounds I have ever seen, in an intimate setting that makes you feel like you’ve come home. What sets this beautiful private venue apart from the rest is the owner, Claire. We queried dozens and dozens of wedding venues - five star hotels, national trust properties, castles and manor houses - and yet nothing came close to Claire in terms of her commitment to making this a happy day for the bridal couple. Sutton Bonington is a private residence, and Claire made us feel like we were part of the family. It never felt corporate or impersonal, and yet Claire was incredibly efficient and knowledgable about the wedding industry, advising us on exactly what to do, giving us thoughtful feedback on our plans, and to top it off had the fastest response times I have ever seen! Claire would go out of her way just to make sure we were on track and for that we are so grateful. You really want to be able to trust the vendors you have selected for your wedding, and I truly can’t think of a better team to have by your side when you’re planning this special day. From the initial planning stages to the day of the wedding, Jel was always available to answer our questions and provide guidance and support. We were looking for somewhere that would cater for 100 guests, but would still feel cosy and intimate. Sutton Bonington was perfect in this respect, as it’s first and foremost a family home. The house and gardens are beautiful, and there are several different rooms and spaces which meant that our guests could spread out during the afternoon and evening. We were particularly keen to have somewhere quieter for our more introverted guests to retreat, and the library was perfect for this. Claire, the owner, was so helpful from the very first meeting and knows the house and gardens well, so she was able to give great recommendations for how to structure our day. She was also extremely patient and answered all our many questions! Portfolio Events are the preferred suppliers for catering and they also act as event managers as well. Again, we cannot recommend them highly enough. The food was absolutely delicious, lots of people said how good it was, including our guests with special dietary requirements. They were really flexible and enabled us to tailor the food and drinks menus to suit us. Charlotte met with us in advance and helped us plan the day in terms of food and timings etc. and helped us make sure the day went as smoothly as possible and we didn't have to worry about anything on the day. She was really organised and took such detailed notes of what we wanted, and helped us make it really personal and unique to us. We were able to set up the afternoon before, which meant we didn't have to worry about anything on the day of the wedding. On the day, Jel and the team were fantastic! All our guests said how helpful and friendly the staff were, and the team made Tom and I feel so special. They brought us drinks especially and made sure we got food throughout the day (it's easy to miss out on such a whirlwind of a day!) There were also a couple of things that didn't go to plan (due to me feeling unwell!), but Jel and the team were incredibly flexible and worked with our bridal party to adapt to the situation and made me feel so supported. It was wonderful to know that we were in such experienced and capable hands, and we didn't have to worry on the day at all. In terms of entertainment we were able to have garden games during the afternoon, and a Silent Disco in the evening. We also had a Photo Booth in the main entrance hall. It was really special to be able to stay in the bridal suite on the evening of the wedding - and lovely to be able to just head upstairs after our guests were gone. On the morning after, Claire had kindly set up breakfast for Tom and I in the Library - which was such a lovely touch and a great way to end an amazing experience. We wish we could do it all over again!
