The Hotel boasts a plethora of exquisite details and features which add to the overall elegance and romance of the building. The Gothic Revival metalwork, stunning gold leaf ceilings and hand-stencilled wall designs embrace the original character of the building. The hotel has ten distinct and historic event spaces for your celebrations. The largest function room, Hansom Hall, can accommodate up to 280 guests. Each room is beautifully finished, offering a decadent space for your event. For the more intimate celebrations, The Quarters with its soaring ceilings and exposed original wooden beams can accommodate up to 30 guests. Sadly, in my experience, the stunning setting was completely let down by poor management, disorganized coordination, and a dismissive attitude from senior staff. In the lead-up to and on the day itself, there were serious coordination failures and broken commitments that caused unnecessary stress during what should have been one of the happiest days of our lives. After the wedding, I took the time to speak with my vendors and guests to fully understand the issues that had unfolded. When I raised my concerns with the hotel around three weeks later, I was eventually contacted by the Director of Sales and Marketing, Eva Maria Valera, I believe was her name. In my personal experience, the conversation was deeply upsetting; rather than acknowledging the concerns, she repeatedly spoke over me, dismissed the evidence I had provided, and accused me of lying. I was told that because I had not complained "on the day," there was nothing more the hotel would do — an incredibly disappointing stance, especially considering how overwhelming a wedding day can be for any couple. For any future brides considering this venue, please be aware: if anything goes wrong, you may find yourself needing to fight your battles on your actual wedding day instead of enjoying yourself and trusting the team to act responsibly afterwards. While Marriott Bonvoy points were eventually offered as compensation, no amount of loyalty points can ever make up for the lasting disappointment of feeling mistreated on such a significant occasion. Ultimately, while the venue itself is breathtaking, it is, in my view, a beautiful backdrop wasted by poor management and a worrying culture of defensiveness from the top down.
