Wonderful wedding receptionWonderful wedding reception
I had my wedding reception here in March 2022. The hotel is beautiful – the photographs really do not do it justice. As a wedding reception venue is was perfect. We had drinks and canapes in the lounge, which felt very cosy with the fireplace, but at the same time was spacious enough for our guests to mingle (we had just over 50 guests). We then moved to an adjoining private wood-panelled room for dinner. We were back in the lounge afterwards for cake cutting and teas/coffees. Later in the evening we moved to the conservatory (which has an adjoining bar) for a ceilidh. We organised the whole thing remotely and Neil was our main point of contact at the hotel. He made everything so easy – it was almost like having a wedding planner. We had helpful suggestions and took care of every detail to make sure the day went smoothly. It really took a lot of pressure off us in the run up to the wedding and we felt we were in good hands. We changed our mind about the wedding size and doubled the number of guests not long before the wedding – they were amazingly accommodating about this and really made us feel like nothing was too much trouble. They took delivery of the flowers, cake etc. and set everything up for us. On the day Neil even acted as a master of ceremony, announcing when it was time to move to the dining room, when the cake would be cut etc. They printed out little menus for us, and our guests could have a choice for every course. They really went above and beyond, and on the day the service was faultless – warm, cheerful and professional. We had looked at other hotels in this area (i.e. within driving distance of Eilean Donan Castle, where we had our wedding ceremony) and we are so glad that we chose the SkeabostI had my wedding reception here in March 2022. Our Wedding DayOur Wedding Day
We booked Skeabost hotel without seeing it first, we booked it for our most special day....our wedding! From the off the staff were outstanding!! They kept in touch until our arrival making sure everything was just perfect! Jen & John could not of done more for our family of guests. The food was perfection, the rooms outstanding, the atmosphere fantastic and so homely . We had 21 guests and everyone enjoyed their time at Skeabost, no one had any complaints whatsoever, everything was just amazing. We are so grateful to the wonderful, friendly team for all their hard work throughout our stay and on our special day. We would recommend Skeabost to anyone!! We will definitely be back!! The venue is glorious!! The views are beautiful and the the people just lovely! Thank you all so much! Exceptional Hospitality on Skye!!Exceptional Hospitality on Skye!!
Our group rented out most of the hotel for a wedding, so we obviously demanded a lot of attention and service. That being said the staff there was exceptional!! Most of the rooms are quaint and historical, unless you stay in the newer rooms that attach the to the main building, which are much more modern and have a boutique style feeling to them. The food we had was delicious, especially the chili coconut soup. Loved the variety of the small but VERY equipped bar off the lobby—I had the best elderflower gin and tonic of my life. Bartender Sara was phenomenal, as was Gertrud at the front desk! Their kindness and attention to service made my stay! Truly unforgettableTruly unforgettable
We want to say a huge thank you to Jen and the team at Skeabost for everything, you all made our wedding day truly unforgettable. From housekeeping, to front of house, kitchen staff, to the waiting staff we want to say thank you. All professional, friendly and attentive. The food over the full weekend was fantastic, huge complements to the kitchen from all the guests. The bar and waiting staff made our family feel so comfortable whilst enjoying a drink at the bar, as if they were at their own home. The team turned around the rooms so quickly for us to enjoy all areas on the Saturday and for that we are grateful. The location is beautiful. We have only had praise about the hotel from our loved ones since returning. Our day ran so smoothly thanks to the amazing team work at this hotel. We stayed at Skeabost House on our wedding day. We got married up a mountain and then had the reception at the hotel. There was 8 of us in total and we had a lovely time. We had one of the superior rooms which included a wonderful view out over the loch. It had a very comfortable 4 poster bed and a bathroom bigger than my own living room. The whole of the hotel was very clean and tidy and clearly well looked after. All of the staff were friendly and very helpful. There really wasn't anything they would not do to make our stay all the more special. We had a mix-up with the person making our wedding cake (not the hotel) and the hotel pastry chef knocked a cake up for myself and my wife, much to our surprise. It really was a lovely touch from the staff. The only reason I've not given the hotel the full 5 stars is that was a minor communication break-down where an overseas member of our family had arranged for some champagne to be given to us and it took a little bit of investigation work. That said, the staff went to every effort to get to the bottom of it and we soon got the champagne. The other reason is that there were some flowers and chocolate and champagne upon arrival included in our package that we never received. We stayed at the Skeabost from 15th-17th July for our wedding and although I will say I think the rooms are , I cannot fault anything during our stay. We stayed in room 5 (the largest in the hotel) which was perfect for me and my bridal party getting ready on the wedding morning, and the room was beautiful. There were a good variety of breakfast options in the morning and the staff serving us were very friendly. Our wedding took place in the conservatory which is typically used as the evening restaurant. From the ceremony, to the wedding breakfast, to the reception, everything was how I imagined it to be. The meal was fantastic and we had many guests telling us how much they enjoyed it. The location of the hotel is ideal as it is tucked away in a quiet area, but only less than 10 minutes from Portree town centre. I could go on and on about everything I loved about our stay but most importantly I wanted to acknowledge the staff. They are an absolute credit to the hotel! Everyone had been so kind, friendly and accomodating to us, ensuring we had the best stay possible. I especially wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to Victoria in housekeeping (who I think was just as excited about the wedding as we were!). She really went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed. She was fantastic with our 2½ year old daughter and our parents had also mentioned to us how brilliant they thought she was. Another favourite among the guests was Nicola! To anyone considering a wedding in Skye I would highly recommend the Skeabost. I would also ask you to consider Lynn from Skye Beauty Salon (hair), Alanna McNiven (make up), Donald from Loch Duich plants (florist), Laura from Creatures of Habit cakery (cake), Penny Hardie (photographer) and Meg Gillies (registrar). Together they helped create the most beautiful wedding and I am grateful to each and every one of them. Spectacular DaySpectacular Day
We had our wedding here last Saturday and it was the most beautiful and spectacular day from start to finish and we felt like royalty. All the staff went above and beyond. Walking down that staircase to my ceremony and all the staff were stood lined up it was so lovely. The three course meal was delicious along with all the tasty wines that accompanied it, all of our family and friends were very happy. Truly grateful for the most magical day.
