We had an incredible wedding at Murthly Estate for 120 of our friends and family. I may be slightly biased, but I think this is the best wedding venue in the UK.
All of our guests spent the day saying how amazing the location was, and they weren't wrong. As you drive up the very long drive lined by incredibly tall trees, you realise this is a truly special place. With deer grazing on the side of the track and oystercatchers hopping on walls, it’s totally surrounded by nature. What you find at the end of the drive is an awe-inspiring venue that leaves you wanting to have three weddings so that you can use all the amazing settings. From the great rooms of the castle, the absolutely stunning chapel, the Douglas fir wood, and the beautiful walled garden, you are absolutely spoilt for choice.
If the venue couldn't get any better, you meet Thomas, whose laid-back attitude automatically puts you at ease and makes you feel like the estate is yours for a few days. Nothing was ever too much and he was always on hand if you needed him, even lending me his sgian dubh when I left mine at home.
One thing to note is that this is a totally dry hire venue, so you will have to bring in everything including the kitchen sink (especially if you’re having a marquee wedding), but that little bit of extra effort enables you to tailor the whole day to be your own. It's also important to note that although Thomas has recommended suppliers, he doesn't put you under any pressure to use them, although I would suggest seriously considering them because some of our "off piste" hires didn't work out as well as the recommended ones.
Ultimately, if you want a day that everyone will remember for years to come, you should definitely have your wedding at Murthly Estate. We had an incredible wedding at Murthly Estate for 120 of our friends and family. I may be slightly biased, but I think this is the best wedding venue in the UK.
